- In this video, I am showing you how to upgrade the firmware on your Bigtreetech TFT35 or similar display. First I am doing this with a pre-compiled binary from the manufacturer. Then we're doing it by building our own firmware binary from the original sourcecode files.

@@Crosslink3D Well, now i have chosen this BTT TFT35 as you've demonstrated and connected it to a BTT SKR E3 Turbo. After all the firmware updates, my screen still shows ' No Printer Attached!''. This happened even before I updated the firmware. With the connections, there is only one ribbon cable and not two. It's connected to EXP 3 as I have discovered. This is because the BTT SKR E3 Turbo does not have the EXP 1 and EXP 2 connectors. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks.
The update went smoothly, but then the terminal wouldn't find the connection to the main board until I refreshed the current firmware. I don't understand what's going on there. Still very happy it connected! Thank you for the wonderful instructions!

Thank you thank you thank you! I must have flashed my TFT24 like 20 times with "Found outdated data" errors. Turns out Teaching Tech missed the config file part. That was critical!
wow... my goodness i have searched for WEEKS for a proper instructional on reconfiguring this. could not find anything. I attempted a flash for the SKR mini v3.0.1 on my e5+, was stuck on a blank screen for awhile, then i tried to reflash a few times, no it's stuck on "illegal app" or something like that, so i will definitely be trying this when i get home, thank you!
and...... it worked. All i wanted to do was make it work with klipper/pi, followed some bad instructions and flashed it incorrectly instead of just changing the display parameters in my printer.cfg....

Thank you so much for showing me how to edit the TFT firmware. the one they have is with the wrong build volume for my printer and i cant fix it until i show your guide.
Need to be able to give two likes for this one. Had tons of trouble trying to upload with the default procedure; compiling it and it works great. I can't believe that it's taken me like over a year to update my firmware and amazingly everything is actually working now....go figure.

Thanks for this, helped me a lot to update the firmware on mine. Out of the box I had no touch screen functionality at all. Now I have a nice shiny touch screen... BUT I can't get past the 'Printer not attached' error. I've tried every UART speed but it makes no difference.
I'm using the latest pre-compiled binary from Bigtreetech and their new SKR Mini E3 V2 mainboard running Marlin 2, so they should play nice together at a UART speed of 115200.
Any suggestions as to a possible fix would be gratefully received.
i converted my SKR to reprap but i have issue with my TFT 7" its not showing the RRF is there a way to flash it to show the RRF ?
I have the tft35 e3 and a mini e3 V2.o working ATM so. So as some ppl are having trouble with the main board I'm just going to chill for a while.

hi, I need help ... I have installed the SKR Miniv2 and TFT35 in my Ender3 Pro, but when I modify the 1990 and 2076 line with Marlin 2.0 bugfix to switch from stock display to reprap full graphic, the compiler gives me an error. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks in advance!!!

One thing i have noticed with the TFT70 v3 is it does not like you to change the temperature "On the fly" in Marlin UI. I tried to decrease the temperature, when i did, the printer stopped for a couple of seconds then inched a bit more an so on... With the TFT35 which i did use until now, that was not an issue.

If you wouldn’t mind, there’s 2 things I’ve been struggling with regarding the tft24 screen, though I believe it’s the same for all these screens.
The first one is that whenever I leave the SD card inserted and restart or reset the printer, it tries to flash and gives me an ‘illegal flash app’ notification. Can I get rid of this?
And secondly, I can’t seem to get the usb drive to work. The screen will detect the usb drive, but can’t read the content. Does this have to do with formatting the drive or is it a specific setting in the firmware?
An answer would be greatly appreciated!
the last bunch of videos u have released has almost be like ur releasing them for me. ive been building a kossel mini delta from scratch an i have the skr 1.4 turbo with the big tree tech tmc 2208 v3 an the tft35 e3 v3 an u have been a life saver along with a guy i met in the kossel mini facebook group. but i still have trouble understanding what all is needed to compile the firmware depending on what hardware u have. like if i want to use the newest marlin firmware an i get the firmware from marlins website, how do i go about getting all the board stuff into the firmware, or is it all done when i put the lcp1769 into the platformio tab. i got the printer working tonight finally got to see it move for the first time. an it has been a relief. im ordering a heated bed tonight an going to go ahead an hook the hotend up an make sure its extruding filament. still gotta come up with some kinda z probe so i can do the delta calibrations an hopefully that will help with getting everything lined out

When I inserted the SD card to upgrade the firmware using the included SD card, the screen wouldn't see it. I used a Sandisk SD card instead, put the same files in the root and it flashed fine.
I have the tft70. I really don't like the GUI on the BTT tft. I like the text based menu. One day ill try and get use to it
While i printing via octoprint there is no printing action on screen. and there is no Babystepping menu. How can i solve this issue?
So with this screen I use its memmory card port instead of the main board

Hi , i have the Bigtree Tech SKR-mini E3 V2.0 and the TFT 3.5 V3.0 installed in my Ender 5 Plus and keep getting the printer not attached info showing up , screen won't stay on long enough to scroll through the menu to change anything??

hey i tried to update my screen, after it updated it told me to calibrate the screen but I accidentally hit the reset button and now the screen is unresponsive in touch mode. Any advice???

Hi, Great and easy-to-follow video. I have one problem I updated the firmware from TFT35 E3 V3.0.26 to TFT35 V3.0.27 now the touch screen won't work, the Marlin side works ok. Any thought of what happened? Everything worked ok before I updated.

i keep getting illegal flash app. i had i working but once i updated it gave m this. i tried a few time to re flash and it did but then could not calibrate the touch screen. i reset and now again illegal flash app error
I'm us6this with a skr 1.4 non turbo. On a geeetech a20m. When in touchscreen mode I try to swap fro E0 to E1 for extruding but it can't. But if I hold the button and go to simulated marlin I can load and unload each side. Any knowledge of this?

thanks for the info, helped me to get it working on the SKR 2 I put into a DX02. Do you have any info on the menu setup? I can only see one fan (0) listed and controllable, I have three plugged in and the Marlin config.H fan# commented out. Still only gives the single fan to controll. Can't find any info re the menu setup beyond different themes. Best regards from NZ.

Changed the TFT35 folder into a .CUR but config remains an .ini and TFT35 folder remains a .bin any suggestions as it won't go into Marlin - using the TFT35 V3 screen so can you confirm which files I need to use as wondering if that's part of the problem.? thanks
I'm new to 3-D Printing. I have an Ender 3 Pro and just installed a TFT35 E3 V3.0 (software version 3.0.25.x dated June 15 2020) and a SKR Mini E3 V2.0. The TFT35 E3 V3.0 indicates NO PRINTER) . I tried changing the baud rate to no avail. I checked all connections.

What am I doing wrong I have the BIGTREE_TFT35_V3.0_E3 Display. I downloaded the latest BigTreeTech Touchscreenfirmware Zip file. I extracted the zip file as instructed. I copied the BIGTREE_TFT35_V3.0_E3.27.BIN and the TF35 folder that contains the BMP and FONTS folder and a file called config_rff.ini to the SD card I renamed the config_rff.ini to config.ini I inserted and powered up the printer it goes to 100% updated but then I get a screen stating "Found Outdated Data" Config Update Required, Icons Update Required. Insert the SD card with the required files then hit reset button to update" The printer control board should not really matter right now correct since that would be step two on the installation of my BIGTREETECH Direct E3 RRF V1.1 32 bit Control Board. I was told to update the display first then update the firmware of the Control Board RRF. How can the files be Outdate they are from the same Zip file...?
Weird question regarding the tft config that someone might be able to answer. I'm modifying my ender 5 plus to have a tft70 display and am wondering if it is possible to edit the tft config to use exp 1 for marlin mode instead of exp 3. Anyone have any ideas on whether that's possible?
can somebody please help me. after i update the firmware the touch dont work. when i keep my finger on the screen it goes to mode select but it does not register where i press is there a fix for this

Hi Daniel. Hopefully you are still monitoring. When I try to build the firmware for the BTT TFT35_E3V3_0 , the build fails due to a flash size exceeded error. Any ideas.

Ive converted a jpeg to a bmp to try and change logo pic but it says error and wont except. I used the same name is there something I'm missing? Is there a max file size possibly? Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

I have the same TFT model as the video and it gives me the error "Fade Height Off".
I state that the firmware was given to me and I don't know how to edit it unfortunately, I would like to delete an ONBOARD_SD icon but I am not yet able.
Regarding the error, I saw that through config.ini it is necessary to modify the "auto_load_leveling: 1" entry and set it to 0.
The problem is that I removed all the other entries in the config.ini file because I don't know exactly what they would modify me from the installed firmware.
When I put the config.ini file in the SD the TFT does not read it and I do not understand if it is because I have removed the other voices and if it seems strange to me.
It can be a problem to eliminate the other configuration items, with the SD card I loaded the firmware so it works

Frustrated to the point about ready to toss the SKR motherboard TFT in the trash. Been trying to upgrade my Ender 3 Pro for a MONTH. I have the SKR 1.4 Turbo, TFT35 E3 V3.0, and TMC2209 steppers. I have followed all the videos and everything else I can find. Following the directions in these videos, the screen is blank. Switched the RS232 around like shown in the video, and then there is an image, but it flashes (not steady). If I arrange the cable so that there is a clear, crisp display, I have NO PRINTER ATTACHED and it has been this way for two of same motherboards and two of the same TFTs. Marlin mode appears to work...but I didn't waste all this time and money to have Marlin mode screen...which worked fine as it was.
What baud rate setting do you have in your Marlin config?
HI there, i have an Issue, Board MKS_Gen_1.4 with Bigtreetech tft70_v3 , Display says "no printer attached" and in the "Info" System: Unknow system"
I switched the "tx & rx" Cable so now they matches with the Board and Display.
Baudrate is the same.
The Problem is, i cant set any serial port on "minus"
PlatformIO writes an error that "i cant set it on minus"
It says: pasting "USART" and " -" does not give a valid preprocessing token.
I dont know why im the only one who has this problem, everywhere i read that people set it on minus and it works.
But I cant.

around 4:18 there is a message that says "Fade Height Off" how do you fix that? my printer is working OK but this message will not go away. I have gcode to display print time remaining and all I see is this message. Ender 3 Pro, SKR mini E3 v1.2 mainboard and this same display like you have here.

@@moistcement a lot off trying out switching the ports at dome point it worked. Also check if the pins are connected in the right order

Where is your x-endstop sitting. At the left side? Does it trigger?

I have TFT50 V3.0 (V27 softwave)
everything works fine and is connected to btt skr 1.2 pro (no software inside yet)
but as soon as I insert the config.ini into the TFT50, it updates and turns on, then beeps continuously for a few seconds and restarts in 30 seconds, and so on and on without interruption until I turn it off
Can anyone help, I really don't know if I'm doing something wrong

the same thing happened to me because i messed up upon screen calibration. if this is also ur problem, try creating a blank text document named "reset.txt" in the root of your sd card, insert, then turn on your printer, when prompted to calibrate, be careful and accurate. hope this helps

Just fyi the ext cur does not mean “successfully” transferred, just transferred . Many times I have tried to upload or flas fw to a btt skr 3 mainnoard without any fonctional change to the board but still get this ext, in other words a failedflash. Also cur is a word for a worthless dog which is quite apt for btt products.

That’s sometimes happening after a new firmware update. You can reverse it again in the screen menu.
how the hell do you level the bed ABL it way off what is baby steps what is z offset and when to use it this vid misses all the info i need.
It often amuses me how so many video introductions say "Let's get into it now!" or something similar, except they then go on to NOT get into it, but to promote something or ask for subs and likes. Nothing wrong with promotion and nothing wrong with asking for likes and subs, but don't pretend you're going to deliver the content with urgency RIGHT NOW then not do it.
I wish someone would have warned me, so as I'm here, I may as well attempt to warn anyone else who MIGHT be entertaining ideas like mine: the delusion that I could upgrade my old Ender 3 to run Klipper with a self-contrived "kit" that turned out to be MISGUIDED: because this TFT35 will absolutely NOT do its dual-personality switching with Klipper. It will only operate in the old 12864 TEXT mode; the color touchscreen with all its handy-dandy features will be of NO USE under the big K.
Oh well . . . .
