- The 75mm f1.4 Summilux lens paved a new path for many photographers that embrace this focal length as well as piqued the interest of many other photographers who found it interesting. The Leica 75mm lens has always been a unique focal length for a rangefinder camera. It could be considered the “Goldilocks” focal length, not too short but not too far, just somewhere in between. This focal length teeters a fine line as many photographers embrace it just as much as shy away from it in favor of other focal lengths. The 75mm f1.4 Summilux lens paved a new path for many photographers that embrace this focal length as well as piqued the interest of many other photographers who found it interesting.

man i love your videos they really make my days !!
Awesome! Glad to hear it!
Another great one. I find myself walking away from my subject to create more distance all the time with the 75....its so nice when you get it right though.
Thank you! The 75mm focal length definitely has a learning curve to it and we agree, when you get it right, it looks the best!
This is the first episode that I have seen on your channel and I would just like to say that I thought this was very nicely presented. I have done a considerable amount of professional photography and I am now rebuilding my Leica system. I am planning to purchase this lens along with the 50mm summilux asph, the 24-70 L and a SL2s body. I think you did a really nice job of showing the rendering of this lens and its pros and cons. Thanks
Glad to hear it! Really appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
Vintage wide aperture lenses generally exhibit a glow at certain focal settings, seen at 7:34. A kind of uncorrected astigmatism that works for portraits, but not street scenes. Unless you're Saul Leiter.
As per the request in the last minute, what about you review all legendary leica lenses? Summicron 35mm 8 elements, summicron 35mm 7 elements, summilux 50mm pre-asph, summilux 35mm pre-asph, summicron 50mm rigid.
Thank you for your feedback. Those are all great suggestions!
Wonderful video - thank you so much!!
Well - what can I say, other than mentioning that this is my personal favorite portrait lens - having owned one from new, back in 1985 -
I will never part with - as I'll never part with the double aspherical 35'Lux - and - the f:1 Nocti... Long live Dr. mandler!!
It's such a great lens! Thanks for watching!
I misplaced my 75mm when I moved. I barely had used it. I know it has to be in the garage.
One day someone will buy that 75mm lens from a garage sale after you pass on for like $50. And hopefully will get some use out of it.
@@hellatightdude I have instructions in my will for my camera collection.

I miss place my stuff all the time because I have too much stuff! When I can’t find it, I just buy more.
It looks like he's trying to use a short telephoto for a lot of normal or wide angle compositions... It feels like he's trying to do a review for the wrong kind of lens.
Nice hat, mr cameraman.
Hi
You have given a realistic assessment.
That is not true with many videos.
I would like to see you find a 73mm f/1.9 Hektor and do similar scenes with
it. Camera West must have a copy lying around.
