I really think these type driverless cars are almost pointless. Other than taking a job away.
The type of tech they use is brittle and rudimentary, what we absolutely can’t have is to let a large chunk of traffic become these cars with this level of tech.
In a dynamic problem situation like a weather emergency, evacuation , or civil defense situation, self driving technology could be a game changer, but this as the experts call it “brittle tech” is incapable of any kind of dynamic unplanned event. They get stuck.

In 2007 I told someone I could never trust a car to drive itself. Someone stated not now but if technology evolves maybe they could. I stated driving on public road with infinite variables is too much to trust. They stated I think such a thing is closer than you think. I took that to mean as maybe in my lifetime and I was only 23 at the time. How my fears became a reality in not even 10 years from that point in the early 2010s

The news report is wrong they are not parked there idling like they say, they are just parked there while they stop with the engine not running... These are electric cars and do not have an engine that can idle.++

they should go to a commercial parking lot, not hang out in a residential area, that's a space for residents, not commercial vehicles.
taxi cabs cant indefinitely hang out next to a house, neither should driverless

Commercial parking lots are almost guaranteed to be private property and only intended for patrons, not people idling. People do it all the time but to be legally in the clear, Waymo won't do it.
