  • We had a look around Kirriemuir and visited the Camera obscura. "One of only three in Scotland - is housed in a purpose-designed turret room in the Barrie Pavilion on Kirrie Hill. It provides a fascinating glimpse of historic technology and striking views of the surrounding countryside."
Thanks to our guide Archie showing us around.
Kirriemuir Camera Obscura was gifted to the town by Sir J M Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, along with the cricket pavilion in which it is situated and was opened by the author on 7th June 1930
Kirriemuir Camera Obscura boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

We have lived 20 mins from Kirriemuir for 21 years now and have not been to either the museum or the camera. Have been to Kirriemuir, we got our springer spaniel from there. Thank you for showing us what is on our door step 😊 loving the tour

How lovely! A 'million' years ago, I danced 'Wendy' in a ballet duet where Peter chased his shadow!
Perhaps share your mics around when you're with others as we only catch half the chit-chat?
Have you ever been to the camera obscura in Edinburgh? Fascinating! Isn't science brilliant!?

Enjoyable but slightly disappointed, no mention of Bon Scott the previous singer with rock band ACDC. Who was also born in Kirriemuir and has a statue in the town and the Bonfest festival in May every year. Keep.up the good work.

Actually Heidi mentioned Bon Scott, in my previous video, but I must have edited it out.

Nice video of home town. It may interest you to know that the monument that you focused on at the end of the video is called The Airlie Monument and until 2021 was surrounded by trees and had a nice walk up through the forest. However in early December 2012 Storm Arwen threatened to blow Kirrie off the map leaving a huge amount of destruction in it's wake. Here is a link to a short video I made then of the aftermath which you may find interesting which includes some footage of the monument area. czcams.com/video/SBwFvHszaSc/video.html
