At 01:48 I think this was a great parenting moment. The kid was going into the cake with the cake lifter and instead of yelling at the child, the mom said "Thanks" (for helping cutting the cake)

I never knew any of my grandparents and, to the lady who said she tells her kids about her mum - keep doing it! I feel like I knew my maternal grandmother so well because she talked about her all the time. My paternal grandmother I didn't know because my dad didn't talk about her. Eventually, I met his side of the family from overseas and they told me so many stories about her and said I was just like her and finally they brought her to life.

Yes! I remember once my ex thought it would be good for me to have a party and make pasteles (sort of Dominican or Puerto Rican tamales) for all 17 guests! A friend said "I thought you were going to have a party, and we were all going to chip in." I said "that would have been nice." He said "this was a lot of work-- what time did you start?" and I said " at 10am" ( it was about 6 PM). He said "when did you finish?" I said "we're still waiting on the rice"

Growing up we always had red cabbage for thanksgiving. I just thought it was normal till I went to a girlfriend's house to eat with her family for thanksgiving. I got the weirdest stares.
When I was 12 I got a half sister from my dad and once she got older she started having Thanksgiving with my mom. We got her to start eating red cabbage now too. Hopefully my niece starts to like it too but she is only 6 this year.
