  • At one point Dawn from a small town in Alberta couldn't walk to the end of her driveway without being winded. She has now conquered her diagnosis in 2020 with secondary adrenal insufficiency and now walks thousands of kilometres a year.
Dawn's secondary adrenal insufficiency was caused by the removal of a pituitary tumour that was producing ACTH hormone. But her journey started years before SAI with a life full of illness, steroids, autoimmune disorders, asthma and migraines.
She has learned to set boundaries, manage her medication, improve her overall wellness and live a life with SAI.
SAI is not stopping Dawn from living her life and she is ready to conquer any challenge SAI gives her.

"Learn how to manage, learn how to cope...": Being at the beginning of diagnosis after a crisis, this is something I've been noticing with "symptoms". Going undiagnosed for so long, I learned how to cope and manage symptoms as, "just the way my body works" leaving me with so many that I would not have thought as "disease" if not for the great videos I've found. Now I have to relearn them as my body sending signals and not to "push through" them.
Those of us who are just learning are grateful to those of you who are already walking this road...
    God bless you...

I HATE the word fatigue because it does not describe my exhaustion times 10.

Is it just me or does it seem like some channels use the word fatigue in place of insufficiency to sell neutroceuticals ... fatigue is an understatement...i had my blood work done...the ACTH results have to be sent to Halifax...it just happened to coincide with my doctor's appointment today so they have about 25% of my results back the rest are going to take about 9 days. ..but it's finally done...but they've already found high levels of liver enzymes the normal is 35- im. At 51 ...not to bad considering i was eating breakfast sausages all week...if it was anything to worry about if I was in the level of 300 or more so. Lets hope the rest come back...but she could tell i obviously wasn't feeling the greatest ... ultrasound in 3-4 months so she said its not hifh priority so far that is what I want to hear at 42 ...theres no way I can feel the way I do but it's gastrointestinal according to her

I've had gastrointestinal problems all my life and even with images of an enlarged adrenal gland doctors kept telling me it was my diet... 10yrs later, Adrenal insufficiency, enlarged liver and supraventricular tachycardia with talk of surgeries... I hate the medical community and somehow I have to find a way to trust them... May God be my doctor's guide...

I have a question about her tumor, what happened with her optic nerve.?

I contacted Dawn and here is her answer for you "they left pieces of the tumour around my optic nerve and around the carotid artery as it was felt the risks to removing them were greater than the risks of leaving them. They are just monitoring for now." thank you for the comment and question!
