@Douglas Wfsx The point of my comment is that she seems like she's in extasy over some minor Roman provincial town, because she wants us to believe Paris was special from the beginning and ' meant ' to be a great city. Destined. This has nothing to do with history and everything to do with current nationalism. Because by Roman standards, there were many towns larger or more important. In France alone Lyon was far more important.
@Douglas Wfsx maybe something like this: this is lutecia, a typical provincial capital. In contemporary gallia there were larger cities, the reason why this city was selected was the ile the la vite, which allowed the crossing of the seine. Because it was far from the border there was no wall or large military presence.
