- Here's my Top 35 of the Icelandic entries in Eurovision so far.
Iceland in their early days I think was pretty weak, it really took them a while to actually start sending properly good songs, but they certainly did have their golden age.
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for this no.1, my second of alltime
I think Iceland has quite the range in their entries! Strangely enough, I'm less into their quirky entries than their pop ones, but when they do well, it's fantastic.
(Also, nice choice of your favorite! Such a shame that Valentine Lost didn't make it).
My favorite is Minn hinsti dans--intriguing and dark, with a wonderful orchestral arrangement!
It took some time for them to get into their groove, but Iceland might be my favourite Eurovision country. My favourite from theirs is _Is It True?_ (2009)
My top 10 of Iceland 🇮🇸 in Eurovision (1986-2022):
10: 1990: so cute and fun. 8.5/10.
9: 2014: such a good message and fun. 9/10.
7: 2003: this is such a cute and fun song. 9.5/10.
7: 2016: this song is so good and the performance is epic. Undeserved non-qualifier. 9.5/10.
6: 2007: this song is amazing and a mood. So happy you think that it is amazing too. 9.5/10.
5: 2004: this song is so good and the performance is amazing. So underrated. 10/10.
4: 1992: this song is so groovy and fun. 10/10.
3: 2019: this song is so amazing and it definitely hits different. 10/10.
2: 2020: this song is so iconic and I really love it. 10/10.
1: 1999: so fun and well-performed. 10/10.
Honourable mentions: 1987, 2013, 2018, 2021, 1986, 2012, 2021 and 2008.
Overall I like Iceland in Eurovision. They are never really up near my favourites of each year, in fact they mostly fall to the middle in my tops but occasionally they do send some real gems. I also love that they send songs in their language every once in a while. Their language is beautiful and at that is something that I can look forward to them (hopefully) doing every time they have a chance.
My fav is 2016!
Where is Ja Ja ding dong? 😂
No But Seriously, great concept videos.
Well done 😃
5. 2021 ❤

2014 🤩
Great top! Your number 1 is one of my favourites of all time! 😊
Will all due respect, but putting 2006 in 10th place? Really??
Yes.
@@eurovisionconnor I find it a bit difficult to grasp, but then again, I'm one of three people on this planet who likes Three Minutes To Earth lol
It should be higher.
Sylvia Nótt is iconic wdym 😭
Ah, Iceland. At the same time one of my favourites and one of the more frustrating countries. Why frustrating? Well, I love their language. It's so vikingy and mysterious and songs like "Ég á líf" showcase it brilliantly. The problem? They don't use it nearly enough!!!! You mad about "Hear Them Calling" not qualifying? Well, I'm ready to die on this hill claiming that it's because English didn't fit that song as well as Icelandic.
Now, thoughts about some individual songs.
First 10 or so years - even with Icelandic language, something is always off. Should've taken notes from Norway 1993 and 1995, they's be great at that kind of music.
1997 - weird. Love it. Also, a historical entry for LGBTQ+ Eurovision fans
2001 - much better than y'all claim. Guilty pleasure.
2004 - Moody. Love it. Might be better in Icelandic
2005 - Can't stop listening to it. To me, better than her 2nd place attempt.
2006 - nope, sorry.
2007 - loved it back then. But still - much better in Icelandic. Also, check out the runner up, Jónsi's "Segđu mér".
2008 - the last hurrah of Eurodance in Eurovision. Love it.
2011 - love, love, love it. Only song from 2011 where I can use the descriptive "love". The story behind it makes it even more heartwarming. Also, say it with me - it was better in Icelandic.
2012 - kinda bland for me, I'm the rare soul who thinks it got a predictable placing (better in Icelandic)
2013 - Nothing to fault here. Love it
2016 - I love Of Monsters And Men. But Icelandic reaaally made this song magical.
2019 - this was a moment in Eurovision history.
2020 - well, I did love "Occulis Videre", but I'll give this one a pass, because Dađi.
2021 - this is the one song where I'll say that singing in English was a good choice, because that message came through beautifully. This song made me love Dađi and he's that rare Eurovision artist whose concert I would actually seek out.
2022 - See how the power of Icelandic language brought them in final? Can't imagine it qualifying with an English song. A fine song.
Well, this was my competely unbiased oppinion. Keep chucking out those good tops!
I have 5 options (you can only choose one)
1. All out of luck(Selma)
2. Is it true? (Yohanna)
3. Hatrið mun sigra(Hatari)
4. Think about things(Daði og gagnamagnið)
5. Other(Comment)
Which one is your favorite.
My favorites are 1999, 1992, 1993 and 2011
Also 1995 is pretty underrated
'Eg a lif' (13), Eit lag enn (90), Nina (91) are my favorite songs of Iceland.
Mine top is 1) 2019, 2) 2009, and 3) 2016. The Holy Trinity.

Mi top: 2000, 1990, 2009, 2010, 2007.
Iceland, they seem to be a country which has been constantly bringing us masterpieces in more recent times, definitely a very strong country which deserves a victory soon. Here's what I think!
1. 2019 - not only was the performance here incredibly effective, I love the electronic industrial approach to the song, overall easily one of the strongest songs from the country in terms of creativity.
2. 1997 - masterpiece, it's pretty much a toned down version of Hatari which wasn't understood yet back in 1997, it's always a blast to come back to this entry once in a while.
3. 2011 - awesome, I love the sweetness here, it feels so genuine, and given the circumstances of the song and the performance, it's even more lovely.
4. 2022
5. 2014
6. 2016
7. 2021 - probably one of the reasons why I like this song better than Dadi's first attempt is due to the fact that we managed to see this one "live". Or maybe this one just managed to be smoother for me, that's also possible.
8. 1988
9. 2013 - this song really serves as a symbol of the beauty of Icelandic language.
10. 2007
11. 2008

14. 1990
15. 2009
16. 1989
17. 1986
18. 2004 - it takes time to grow, the song isn't an immediate hit, but the live performance here sure does help a lot.
19. 1993
20. 1994
21. 1987
22. 2012
23. 1992
24. 2006 - I still cannot decide whether I like or dislike this entry.
25. 1995
26. 2000
27. 2001
28. 2015
29. 2005
30. 1999 - honestly I'm a bit surprised that this is so well regarded, it really feels underwhelming to me, like something a bit more was needed.
31. 1991
32. 2018
33. 2003
34. 1996
35. 2017 - pretty boring with how generic it is.
