I nearly had an accident in a Fiat Seicento today because some weirdo got on the wrong side of the road in a corner. I am so glad I didn't have an accident, my heart was going insane because in this car... ehh, I don't feel a basic level of safety because it isn't there.

The mother of a friend of mine died in a seicento years ago, a plastic piece from the dashboard hit her head through the airbag.
Sorry, FIAT produced these " cars " for decades...Turin is less than 50 miles from me.

It's the first one i hear in 25+ more years since this car actually came out.
I'm so sorry for your friend's mother but we can't just let it fall depressing without analyzing the circumstances that brought a particular fatal situation to happen.
This car is some of the worst in terms of safety, it is not a secret.
All we know is that fatal crashes use to happen with cars with much higher reputation in terms of safety.
What does this mean at the end of the day? It means that fatalities can happen while driving and then most of the bad situations are actually caused by bad vehicle conduction and driving all around.
I'm not accusing as long as people are not pointless doing with this car just because it is what it is.
The lid on the airbag on the driver side comes off clean if the airbag is deployed. it will smack you in the face.
I know someone who crashed into the back of a traffic jam.
A SUV in front of her pulled out the last moment,.......when she saw a traffic jam....
Despite to make a emergency stop it was just late for her to avoid a crash....
The car she crashed in was a Tesla model S.........it suffered very little damage after the impact.
And was able to continue his way without any problems.
The Seicento was practically unrecognizable at the front...
She was lucky that she made a full frontal impact with only minor injuries....
If she had a overlap crash like this......the consequences were undoubtedly horrible!
BTW: Her safety belt was almost torn off after the impact......unbelievable!!!!!!!!
Damn am I really glad I found out about this before I bought one. I needed a small cheap car for only 3 months, the Seicento seemed an ideal option until I found out about this....

So some of us were standing on the back seats with our upper bodies out the roof window, then there were two guys sitting on the front passenger seat and obviously a driver, so one person on the driver seat, two persons on the passenger seat, two people standing on the middle of the two back seats and two more people sitting on the outer edges of the back seat.
Safe to say, if had we crashed no one might have survived...

@@elgooghosent7080 Newer ones maybe, but upto 2002ish they're nearly indestructable, reliable ( a lot make it past a million kms)...and I can tell you, the mechanics working on my car ( for regular oil change, nothing broken yet) love working on it.
Much safer than any motorcycle in the world.

The airbags are kinda useless in this car. I think it's even more dangerous with driver airbag than without. Look at how the steering wheel traps the driver.

The results are always shown at agonisingly slow speeds and in scrutinous detail, just to unsettle you.
They're fully silent to focus your attention on what you're seeing, and performed against a black background with everything else absent so that you don't feel at ease.
Just think about this...if you take a bus or train, what do you imagine an identically sped collision would result in?
Particularly if you were jammed up against other people with their unsecured luggage.
The old TRRL crash tests used to be performed outside in natural daylight, and as such, didn't scare people out of particular cars.
They also didn't "zoom in" to the gory detail of the injuries.
Think also about this...
In over 90% of cases, your body will heal itself.
The allopathic medical establishment seem to be doing precisely EVERYTHING, to prevent that from happening.

There are many big car which behave awful in crashes, look at cars like the Toyota IQ and you'll see that cars even smaller than this can be safe.
Heavier cars with the same result in EuroNCAP as smaller ones do better in real life because the test simulates a crash agains a similar sized car. That doesn't mean big SUVs are safe as they are easier to crash due to higher weight (less grip) and a high center of gravity (unstable) and they damage smaller cars more than regular cars in crashes.

Had from 2003 until 2018. It required many trips to the repair shop. once i hit a fiat punto. he had to change 3 parts. my seicento had a small dent!

Airbag c'era nel 2007,ma non serviva a una mazza se sbattevi ai 40 all'ora,ti si spezzava il collo. Buttata la mia per distruzione dell'avantreno a nemmen o 40 all'ora sbattendo contro un cordolino di una rotonda. ( maledetti per l'eternità chi le ha inventate e costruite )

Take note that there is passive safety and active safety.
Between city cars the 600 handles well, with roadholding, suspension and brakes. The Smart is a classic example of passive safety: ever driven one in the wet or on uneven surfaces? 😬
It's just this model in particular. More recent city cars like the third gen Panda or the Aygo are safer

la seicento non è un auto sicura a causa della scocca debole però neanche la smart che ha preso tre stelle conto 1 e mezzo e sicura anzi comunque subisci un brutto impatto all'interno in caso di incidente perché avendo quella scocca dura e avanti solo un po' di plastica senza un po' di cofano, l'urto lo subisci tu e non la macchina che non si deforma proprio.

@28698c Non è che fino al 2000 ha prodotto auto di plastica, la punto del 1995 era sicurissima, così come le Bravo/Brava, considerate nel loro periodo ovviamente. Dal '90 al 2010 le cose sono cambiate. La Fiat non fa auto insicure. Semplicemente la 600 è stata progettata 20 anni fa. Quindi semplicemente non compratela se ci tenete alla pelle e la Fiat la toglierà dal listino!
Scusa,ma...impara un po' di storia dell'auto europea,ho avuto la DE e guidato per 50 anni,la punto prima serie era solo un po'più grande e dunque assorbiva meglio i piccoli urti. Ciaoi !!

No,solo lato guida. Avuta una immatricolata fine 2007 e distrutta contro il bordo di un cordolo a 40 km h,da buttare ( ti parla un ex meccanico ). PS L'auto non era mia,ma di mia madre che pensava che 600 fosse la cilindrata - come molti,credo - e dunque fosse economica in generale...
