I've really grown to appreciate this scene over the decades. Because earlier, in Icicle Town, you can find the tapes of Dr. Gast interviewing Ifalna and learning the true story of what Jenova is. And also how the Cetra died and why the Planet made WEAPON. Dr. Gast didn't know when he wrote all those reports in Nibelheim mansion.
But worse is that Hojo found and killed Dr. Gast while capturing Ifalna and Aerith. And he found Dr. Gast's interview tapes while he was there. So he knew from the beginning what Jenova and what WEAPON was. And he pushed forward with the SOLDIER program, knowing full well it was never going to produce the results Shinra wanted. But what's worse is he never told anyone about those tapes. So when you get to 1:20 and Hojo starts talking about WEAPON, Rufus has no idea what he's talking about. He never saw Dr. Gast's report, Shinra didn't understand what they were signing on for when they gave Hojo a blank check to do whatever he wants.
Hojo is the biggest villain in the FF7 series.
To consider that the soundtrack of this place, "Reunion OST", sounds like a distorted version of "Flowers Blooming on the Church OST", i guess that this was another hint about the theories that implied that Aerith originally meant to die in the Great Crater, than the Forgotten Capital.
Apparently JENOVA cells can also make not just the three JENOVA children, but anyone with the cells levitate and walk affixed to the ceiling.
Yea I really wonder how they’re gonna do this scene lol. I remember playing this as a kid and I was dying when cloud started floating.
Hojo losing it to learn that "a failure" made it is the most satisfying feeling to get for how much of an arrogant scientist he is and the worst people to ever exist
Hojo is the failure. As you can see on his blocky character, even his hair is trying to run away from all that hideousness.
You know what this already complex story needs? A multiverse and time jannies thrown on top of it
And that's why I "noped" out of Final Fantasy VII Reimagine so hard when it came out back in 2020, during the conversation with Red XIII as soon as they mention that and the words "fate" and "destiny" were dropped.

I really wished this was Rebirth’s ending. Would’ve been a hell of a cliffhanger
The game might have been too long if they had done that. Not only would they cover the majority of Disc 1, but they'd also have to cover the entirety of disc 2 as well. Granted disc 2 isn't as long, but still. If they'd done that, part 3 of remake would be super short too, because it would only be disc 3, the shortest of them all, essentially just the game's conclusion and wrapping up. Still, you could argue they made remake part 1 a decent length, and that's technically even shorter, just the very beginning of disc 1 in Midgar, because they added a lot to it. So honestly, I guess either way of splitting it would have been ok.
If you think about; It makes much more sense thematically in being part of the the opening chapters of part 3. Clouds mind is fractured at the end of Rebirth, when it shatters completely in part 3, and meteor and the weapons are unleashed it’ll be part 3’s big “oh shit moment,” to let you know things are different, more dire, and more serious than rebirth.
I think they want the highwind to be the main focus of part 3. They say they had issues figuring out exactly how it's gonna land throughout the world

plus rebirth covered some of part 2 as well even with the weapons awakening

You see this is really all on HOJO!!! He's known about this all the time and Rufus and the other Shinra fools were too busy to even notice looking for a damn myth! Also turns out all this time Cloud's personal hunt for Sephiroth has really been nothing but a sham as well. Cloud was being summoned by him from the Jenova cells inside of him.

Sephiroth wants to summon Meteor so he could dent a large hole on Earth and absorb the Mako that’s healing it, so why didn’t he just absorb the mako during the 5 years he spent in the Lifestream?
Or why didn’t he just go to the Northern Crater and absorb it?
Maybe it would be more concentrated, like materia.
He wants tto absorb all ell the energy from earth and eventually the cosmos. Meteor is intended to destroy everyone and the planet and i believe he intends to use it on other planets to gain enough energy to become ''GOD''. Hence if you play the original his supernova summon as safer sephiroth boss fight shows. lol although the supernova summon doesnt even make sense how it doesnt eliminate the entire party.

Nah. I think Aerith’s “you know what” was a good enough ending because that’s where part 1 of the original game ended.

there 3 disks in the OG, the first disk ends with Aerith you know what, i guess that is what they try to do in rebirth, perhaps the third part ends here.
