Some of English idioms are almost the same as in French.
But for instance we donât speak of the "devil" : on parle du loup.
The entire phrase in French is "Quand on parle du loup, on lui voit la queue". Technically speaking, we see the entire person when we speak of her or him!
Wow,I got to learn lots of amazing expressions with the word speak in just nine minutes.Technically speaking it helped me a ton to know how to use them with real life examples.Thank you so much for everything you're doing to help us improve.đŠđ„°

@@InteractiveEng Hi! Could you explain the difference between fundamental and important? If they differ, can you give me some advanced and academic words which have the same meaning as important. I am really fed up with using this word every time.
In Portuguese, we say, "falando do Diabo, aparece o rabo" (speaking about the Devil, appears his tail) to say that the person we are talking about, appears suddenly.
Interesting. Thanks for commenting & sharing. đ
Thx.

Great job teacher but I can't understand movies without subtitles I have been learning English for 7 years

Vicki says "My ears are burning" when someone says speak of the Devil. She says you can say "My ears were burning."
In German, "sprichst du laut" means speak up. Aufsprechen also means speak up but not with a loud voice. It means to participate in what you believe by talking about it.
I hope I made sense. I can't find all the English words I want to use. So I write a German sentence, bur sometimes it comes out not making sense.
I told Vicki my family didn't take place in Nazi Germany. She said "didn't participate" is the better English translation, but the computer translator keeps translating sentences in exact words. Vicki said it stops working after A1 German. Not everything translates in exact words between languages. Gustav
That's another great phrase. Thanks for sharing, Gustav. And yes, sometimes translators can be unreliable, especially if it's word-for-word. Because when you say something "doesn't take place" it means that it does not happen. For example: The meeting didn't take place. (This means the meeting did not occur) But keep practicing and keep up the good work! You're doing great. đ
Great
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting. đ
Speak for yourself: habla por ti. Speaks for itself: habla por si mismo. Facts speak for themselves: los hechos hablan por si mismos.... it's easier to remember when you find the meaning in your own language!!
Nice
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Hope you learned some new phrases. đ
I am from Pakistan

Why âspeak âwithout s in the headline Neil Hamilton letâs the land speak for itself ?
It's because 'let' is a causative verb which means it's followed by the base verb. đ
@@InteractiveEng thanks a lot for clearing that up
I just got jump-scared by Trump at 0:24
Your face speaks volume: con la cara paga....
Speak of the devil = hablando del rey de Roma ( spanish).

Example of Trump crack me up lolđ
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment. đ
Tbh I donât like synonym or another way to say for me they are just a waste of time to learn. If there were no similar words all language learners will perfect the language faster. I like being a polymath but not a polyglot there are many people they say that learning English changed their life. If all people speak only one language their life already changed from the very bringing they donât even needa spend extra several years to perfect English language I hope the world speak only one language soon
The English speaking country doesnât go as I expected so even though I donât think synonym I will learn for sure
Speak of the devil.......... I would change for speak of the ANGEL if its a good person.
That probably works better. đ
Speak of the devil: en español "hablando del rey de Roma... por la puerta asoma". Speaks volume: sobran las palabras....
Thanks
Welcome. Thanks so much for commenting & checking out the lesson. đ
