  • In a child, physical literacy is the combination of mastering fundamental movement skills and fundamental sport skills. Fundamental movement skills (FMS) provide a foundation for many physical activities, ranging from everyday movements to
complicated sport and movement skills. This activity-oriented session demonstrates FMS progressions, how to observe and provide assessment FOR learning through specific rubrics.

I love this lesson. About to do a test for a select 3 fundamental movement skills. We learnt about 20 in total but are missing many of the ones you've mentioned in this video, but I agree that there's a need for many of these which I haven't encountered.
I also like how you categorized the FMS, have gauges for effort/difficulty, and have physical systems available for students to consider.
Some of the ideas you share in this lesson are very useful.

Note that Dodge is not considered a locomotor skill anymore and is more considered a stabilizing skill

question: at 9.00 of the video, would sliding be a more transferrable skill for basketball defence rather than galloping? my point is, we don't need to know galloping to do sliding and basketball. is this true? could someone clarify this?

You need to be able to shift weight in the gallop in order to be able to do the slide, which is basically a sideways gallop.

The only thing, participants waited for a while because of the instructions. Otherwise, the activities are impactful

@@billrogers2552 of course, but think about people who are BLIND 😉 this doesn’t mean that we are not suppose to hear from CZcams ‘s videos. Hearing right now is a mean to learn 😉 and think about people who speak another language 😉 the vocabulary used is important too. Thanks for noticing that was impactful. 🙂
