You said you use a gradient from the direction of the light to the direction of the shadows, would you say the color you used for that gradient if based on what color the light source is?
yes, and the surrounding... for example if you are under the blue sky then the shadows and light is going to be blue-ish, but if you are in the middle of the forest then they are going to be green-ish... and so on
Which video games do you do art for?
I stoped working for a video game company and decided to do my own thing over a year ago. So I am currently not in the game art business.

Great video! Can you show the overlay layer on its own (without anything else)?
You won't see anything, overlay is an effect layer that generaly makes lighter colors lighter and more saturated and darker colors darker and more saturated. Hope that helps
