Berserk has been on my radar as a story I needed to review for years. On top of it being
one of the most requested stories I should review for the longest time, the fans surrounding
the series have proven to be some of the most passionate.
Unfortunately this year saw the tragic passing of one of the best manga artists of the last
generation in Kentaro Miura. His work has touch the hearts and minds of millions
across the world and so this is chance to give back to the community of Berserk in
    a small wall.
Join me in the blind review as I Totally not Mark embark on this epic dark fantasy journey through the world of Berserk alongside Guts and Puck as they try to stay alive and achieve their goals in this cruel and gritty world!
    MUSIC USED:

Mark, PLEASE Review Magi: the labyrinth of magic and its prequel. Its an amazing manga with the worldbuilding of One Piece mixed with the Grayness and complexity characters and situations of HxH (and with much less exposition). Its one of the best Mangas out there, yet continues to be underrated and underappreciated as its anime stopped abruptly and we never got a conclusion in the anime.

I'm glad he caught on how in this arc Guts has to constantly remind himself that one must always be strong, not because he wants to but because he needs to after everything that happened to him. A lot of people criticize this arc because they say it portrays Guts as someone completely different from the rest of Berserk, saying that he is edgy or cartoonish but I strongly disagree. This is the exact state of mind anyone who lived through what Guts has would be in. As he pointed out, all that "the weak deserve to die" talk is Guts trying to convince himself that he will most surely die if he does not become strong.

I don't think they're entirely wrong either. It's pretty clear the early parts of Berserk has some dissonance with future chapters. Miura did his best to make it fit but there are some holes although it's not that big that it's bothering me really. Just keep in mind that Berserk is a manga from 80s and Berserk is perfectly fine, It's a tad bit silly to think Miura planned all of this perfectly beforehand . Things change over the span of decades on an ongoing Manga series even One piece who I think is a Amazing at setting up future events didn't certainly plan all of this ahead of time.

Fun fact: the medieval iron prosthetic hand is a real thing. A german mercenary working during the early 1500s by the name of gotz von berlichingen had two made for himself after his hand got shot off by a cannon. One his arms even had special magnetic fingers so that it could hold a sword hilt or shield. Sadly it didn't have a built in cannon since that probably would break your arm every time it fired.
Gotz was a right crazy bastard too. He got into feuds with whole cities. That is to say: there were cities he hated so much he put together bands of mercenaries and bandits and waged private wars against them, not to conquer them, just to make life as difficult as possible for those cites and everyone in them. The Holy Roman Emperor had to threaten him with jail time twice to get him to stop.

Hey Mark, great decision. Doing 1 review a month giving yourself time to digest is something I've thought you should do for a while. It takes a lot of the pressure of, gives you time to talk about many other things in between that are less dense or that you might have clearer thoughts on, I'm keen for this. This would allow you to go into more depth about specific moments too. For as neat as the 'Blind Review' idea was, It just doesn't quite suit the scripted, highly produced video style you're so good at, it's just a reaction channel type thing. I think me and many other fans would just prefer a proper review on the stories we already love.

Berserk is, alongside One Piece, some of my favourite fictional reading, ever. The story of Berserk, the struggles of Guts and what we see him go through, his slow redemption to become human again, its beautiful, but it fucking hurts to read too, cause a lot of what Guts goes through, can be reflected in people's day to day struggle to keep on going through their own hardships and battles. Some people lose that battle, while others have the tenacity to keep going like Guts.
Berserk also spurred on and inspired some of the best known and well made games and series in the dark fantasy genre, setting a precedent other manga could only dream of achieving. The sheer impact of Kentaro Miura and Berserk will be felt for years to come, and I truly feel Miura is one of the greatest Mangaka history has seen so far. His dedication to the medium and his contribution to the world of manga can only be respected. I was fucking devastated for the entire week after the announcement of his passing.
I sincerely wish nothing but the best for his family, and hope they're given the time needed to grieve without the internet bombarding them with questions related to Berserk.
    Rest in peace, Miura. #ThankYouMiura

A lot of the complaints from hxh was how you completely failed to mention characters and plot points which has always been a criticism of your weekly series from just how brutal of a schedule you've had to adapt to to play with the youtube algorithm
