Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
I prefer to upgrade every 3-4 years because I want to experience an actual upgrade in tech. Smartphones are already great as is.
Still rocking my Pixel 5 no issues other than storage full at 128gb and the speaker not so loud anymore. But other thing is mine is the last phone that gives free unlimited photos storage
I: Still uses a Google Pixel 3...
@@RyanNewby that was my first Pixel phone. It gave me 2 years and 9 months before i had several problems that made using it annoying. Slowed processing, out of internal storage, poor battery life, the speaker blew, and front camera would buzz and get blurry whenever you tried to use it. My P5 at 2 years 2 months now has internal storage full and a speaker issue but i feel like the latter is software related because it's intermittent
I've come from 7 Pro to 8 Pro, there's a massive difference between the two phones. I don't agree with upgrading every year, but there is a huge difference. Flat screen, better battery, so much faster, face unlock is so much better too.
@RyanNewby I just upgraded my Pixel 3 to the Pixel 8. I did it for the 7 years of software updates. No more new phones as long as I don't break or lose my phone.
Great vid, as always, Mark -- thanks! Sounds as if fundamentally there isn't much of a difference between the 7 and the 8 for the recreational user. I've got a new(ish) 7 now (256gb) and will probably be keen to go to the 9 next year, as I suspect Google will introduce significant enough changes to the Pixel (a la from 5 to 7) that it would be worth the $$ to upgrade. See you next year on that! 💡
Nice review! The contract on my Pixel 6 is up, so you just helped me pick the Pixel 8 as my new baby!
I have had mine for a few days and it tunes itself really well to your behavior, it scares me how clever the thing is.
Hi. How do the speakers sound? do they have more bass something like iPhone?😊
I went into Best Buy last night and traded my pixel 7 in for the pixel 8 since that was such I great deal just cost me $ 270 They sent the earbuds the next day I love the smaller size
Do you know if the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro now finally support/offer Display Port Alt Mode (DP over USB-C)?? Natively, from the USB Port of the phone, and without any separate Display Port Adapter? Samsung Phones nearly all support DP Alt Mode natively, but the Pixels 5,6,7 didn't.
I guess i should hang on with my p7,ai feature would definitely comes to an update,my p7 is working great so yes for me no need to upgrade
I currently have pixel 7 and on Google fi with financing 5 months so far if i were to finance an 8 would that be an additional line would finance cost basically double?
I do not trust these shortly afrer release reviews. They always overpraise the new phone minor adjustments. No need to change your one year old Pixel 7.
The main funny (actually not funny) point is how most reviewers compare the battery life of the brand new phone, with the battery life of a phone that has been used for a year.
Good video. Thanks for the quick comparison. 👍
Substantially battery life and the phone not getting super hot in summer are the only reasons why I would upgrade. And I'm not sure it will be substantially better so I'll wait a year or I'll just switch to a different brand
Maybe it's just because I'm old, but....
I usually run my Pixels (including the 8, which i got just a day or two ago) with the regular battery saver on. I don't really notice any difference, but that's just me. Unplugged the charger about 6:30am. It's now 11:30pm, and i have 37% left, with over 9 hrs of SoT.
No complaints here. I love it!
Thank you for reviewing the Regular Pixel 8 , most all reviewers only talk about the 8 pro
Thank you! :) more videos about the 8 coming soon
Yes, I agree, not enough reviews on the Pixel 8. Not everyone wants or needs the Pro version.
I was on the edge deciding between the 2 phones upgrading from a Samsung A32 5g. Seems the Pixel 8 is the best choice for me. Thank you for the video greatly appreciate it.
Which one should I buy p7 or p8? I am concern about battery and p8 cost more but it also have 7 year updates
Does the Pixel 8 overheat while shooting 4k videos?
I am on Google Fi (going on 7 years now) and I went ahead and upgraded from Pixel 7 to Pixel 8 Pro - LOVE the feel of the Pixel in hand and it was a super easy transition/transfer of all my data from 7 to 8 Pro. With trade-in and discounts, I paid $651 with tax! I got the cutest case too :D Review coming soon but I loved how you compared the two.. new subscriber here (I just discovered you in my feed - great comparison thank you!)
congratulations you played yourself
@@Lazy943jealous little child 🤡 go play with you're ball in the garden kiddo 🤣🤣🤡🤡
Of course it was an easy transition, they're basically an identical phone with updated chip and camera.
Thank you for Pixel 8. And compared both phones. All CZcamsrs just talked about the pixel 8 pro. Thank you!!!!
Many more videos on the 8 coming!:)
Great video! We need more content on the regular pixel 8. I love what I’ve seen of it so far, but I’m wondering what kind of screen on time it gets and if standby time is improved?
I get around 7h SOT
@@zekiz774 that’s really good considering I getting 5 to 5 and a half hours on the pixel 7 last year.
I have many more videos on the 8 coming this week! :) I'm getting around 6.5 hours on the 8. Very impressive. The 8 Pro Is getting me around 7 hours, even slightly more depending on my use
@@MarksTech that’s awesome :) I look forward to your videos because they are super informative and help me decide when I’m buying a new phone. That is really great sot on the pixel 8. My metric usually is if it gets 6 hours or more of sot being a flagship device then it has good battery life. Funny thing is after the bugs of the last few pixels and the tensor chip issues I thought I was done with pixel devices. But I keep coming back to them because I love stock android and all the cool pixel features. Definitely looks like the year where Google made significant improvements and upgrades.
I bought a pixel 7 a year ago and I feel ripped off to be honest why make new AI features exclusive to pixel 8 already pixel 7 is left in the dust thanks Google
I feel ya on this one just got my 7pro and then a year later they dropped this?!?! Google trying to lose some people
Like you said. Thanks Google. That sums it all
Lol they AI features aren't really that important 😂
Actually am Getting Those Ai features update this week on my pixel 7
I've only had the p7 for about 4 months now no complaints so I'm going to hold on it for a while
I don't normally but I did upgrade this time and the camera is much better coming from the 7 to the 8 pro got used to the size change too
Hey man I got the Pixel 8 and my volume and power buttons wobble back and forth. Do yours do it at all? Was wondering if it was a cause for concern.
I have the pixel 4 xl is it worth upgrading for performance gaming? 🤔
I wish the Pixel 7 had the bezels of the 8. The 8 looks more comfortable to hold, like a bigger version of pixels of previous years.
Great review, thanks a lot!
I took the plunge after having watched various reviews on the pixel 8 and so far I am loving it.
Same here, I'm loving every aspect of it
I can get the pixel 8 for £214 with Amex cashback and trade in. But I can get the pixel 7 with free case and google charging stand for £92. I am still undecided which one to choose. Please advise.
I had a look at the pixel 8. It feels more comfortable to hold , bit more solid. The display is brighter and more vibrant in manual standard mode, the whites appear cleaner , albeit in this mode its not 2000 or 1500 nits like peak brightness or the HDR thingy . Must be just over 600 nits in standard manual mode using the slider
I'm definitely subscribing. 😘
The battery won't cover 7 years system updates though
Dude you should REALLY teach yourself how to do a really good impression of Charlie Day (from the show Always Sunny in Philadelphia) because you look a lot like his character! You could be a dead ringer if you had the voice nailed down!
Youd probably get a lot of attention at bars/parties with that.. you've been given a gift! Don't waste it!
What about pixel 8 vs pixel 7 pro?
I was loooking at the price in mexico and the price for the 7 pro is lower than the 8, not the pro
Hellz ya I went from 6 pro to 7 back to 6 pro. Then now holding the 8 pro. Amazing best phone I've had yet
Great vid! Btw, how do the selfie cameras compare?
Pretty much the same. Just HDR is better on the 8
Yeah but is the Pixel 8 worth it 150 eur difference? Pixel is not officially in my country so I have to buy through third party resellers, Pixel 7 starting from 410 eur while pixel 8 is from 550 eur. Which one should I get?
I love the hazel colour of the pixel 8.
The answer is simple and short…YES!!!
....... Yeah.... No, The Pixel 8 does everything the 7 does 😅
I upgraded from the iPhone SE so far so good 👍
Just bought a renewed Pixel 7, in like-new condition, for just $297.74 (+tax). Great phone! Maybe I'll catch Pixel 9 or 10 when I can pick one up renewed at a huge discount like I did my Pixel 7.
Also if you could do a social media camera test again, against the s23 ultra and 15 pro max. It'd be cool to see how they've improved and if those are finally optimized for Android or at least this android phone
I'm not getting a trade in offer anywhere near what you got from Best buy for Pixel 7
nicely done bro
Upgrade from Pixel 7 not really worthy!!
I was just debating if i should upgrade i have the Pixel 6 and 7
I'm happy with my 6a.
For me it was. Runs cooler, brighter screen outdoors, battery lasts longer and fingerprint sensor a bit better. Good trade in value from my 7.
@@MrPontiac005any reception/modem issues?
@@duttyow8766 none so far, seems a bit better than the 7 when I'm out and about. I know they tweaked something on the modem so maybe that's why.
Traded in my pixel, seven pro for the pixel eight pro and it’s definitely an improvement. Things are buttery smooth. The screen is wonderful. There’s lots of new little touches. It feels better in their hand. It’s overall big improvement because there’s lots of small improvement. Glad I did it.
great video🔥💯
Thank you :)
i hate ultra hdr it's to brigth and i couldn't understand what happends to pixel photos and i was nervous, when i turn it off i saw that pixele look and i calmed down
It's funny I had the pixel 8 and changed it for the pixel 7 as I prefer the feel of the 7 in the hand!
You know I don't see much different from my pixel 7 , I just see no big differences, I'm good with my pixel 7
Can you please help me in choosing between Google pixel 8 and iphone 15 plus?
Which is the best buy?
Pixel will be a better option because smooth display, one of the best cameras 7 years of os updates and its AI
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are scary good 👍😎
Agreed!
Can you do a snapchat/ social media test again??? :)
I saw the best buy trade in promo and i was going to do it and i checked back and its over now
Idk why no one is comparing 7pro and 8.
P5 vs P8 on look n feel?
i bought the blue pixel 8 pro, but for me its a little to big but like the color, side info, i never use a smartphone 7 years lol
Which pixel should i get
Nice review but BB is only offering me $165 for my Pixel 7. Bummer.
I'll wait for the 8a.
I wish there was an "8 Pro" with all the feats but in the size of an 8!! Google please!!!
Am on the 6A, Am thinking to upgrade but I don't need to yet. Idk.
Thanks, Mark! The best Pixel 8's review on CZcams i ever seen ! That helped me really out..
One question,if you don't mind: In SETTINGS/DISPLAY/COLORS, is there a BOOSTED mode as it was available on Pixel 4, 5 and 6 , or only Natural and Adaptive?
Thanks in advance!
Greetings!
Thanks so much! There's natural and adaptive :)
@@MarksTech Thanks alot for your quick reply! Best regards!
Will pixel 7 get Camera AI upgrade of Pixel 8 in updation of software....
Unfortunately not! The new G3 chip is required to handle all the AI processing
Pixel 7 has Ultra HDR support now!
Don't think the battery is going to last for 7 years tho
I was going to get the Pixel 8 but since Google doesn't distribute Pixel phones in México the only option I have is through Amazon, but right now the Pixel 8 is aprox 23,000 mx pesos (around 1,270 dollars converted) which is insane, and the Pixel 7 just droped to 8700 mx (around 480 dollars) so the difference in prices is almost 3 times cheaper to get the las year Pixel 7, and I would LOVE to get the Pixel 8 instead of the 7 but Im no stupid cause that price gap is insane, I get it just came out but cmon. So I rather get the Pixel 7, save a lot of money and in a few years maybe get the Pixel 10 or idk which hopefully has faster charging speeds, a beter chipset etc.
Wow ... that's a bummer I just assumed that Pixel phones were for sale in Mexico , depending where you at in Mexico you should visit San Diego for a day .
@@jejunamja Yeah, I've thought about it cause I live in Monterrey, close to Texas but still I think getting the Pixel 7 is the best for me, giving that I'm still a student I prefer stpend less money since I don't have a lot of income and get a better phone once I'm graduated
I always wanted a pixel phone too bad its unavailable in my country
Short ans sweet, Thanks!
I just traded my iphone 12 for a pixel 7 and got it for essentially free durimg the google sale for the unlocked pixel 7. Is the best buy trade in only for a carrier?
No, you can do unlocked phones too
Best Buy offering $450 for Pixel 7 trade in unlocked.
damn I might go get one then that's a good deal!
@@MrPontiac005
I was in Vodafone today and I must say I was very disappointed with the pixel 8 pros camera….like the selfie camera was just so bad maybe it was because it’s a demo unit? The s23 ultra demo unit camera was wayyy better
Pixel 7 also had a bad selfie camera for that price and I believe it barely changed with Pixel 8
Nope every year there's gonna be a new faster and better phone and expensive one . Who's gonna buy it ? Aah people with money! My pixel 7 gonna be arriving tomorrow here in India gonna use it for as long as possible 10 years. I gonna be fine with my pixel 7🙂
Pixel 6a only !!! 🎉
Didn't notice much difference. Maybe I just wait for the Pixel 9 Pro much later on as I didn't even digest the hidden features of the 7 yet.
I think the only noticeable difference is the display and improved brightness. Google has almost caught up with Samsung in the display department 😊
The only problem with these videos is that trade ins and deals only happen for buyers in the U.S. If you are in any other country you basically get screwed. I think all the cell phone manufactures are rip off artists. Best way is to get a one year old refurbished and forget the marketing crap.
Most the goodies also came to the 6
I upgrade every year because of the trade-in value at Best buy. My pixel 8 cost me less than $200. I traded in a seven. I used the $100 gift card. Best buy
So far as you don't play games, watch long term CZcams and do videos, you'll be fine with any of these
Please bro reply which one is the best 7pro or 8?
8
The pixel 8 is really not much of an upgrad from 6 , let alone 7. It's sad that they just pushed it out with crippled software compared to a pro model and expect people to buy.
I dont like pixel 6 all that much, but i dont think 8 is much better. I dont want to go back to Samsung, but google it making me. I love clot android
Battery life took me away from the Pixel. If the 8 is the same then ill pass thanks.
They're offering $165 for a 256 GB Pixel 7 trade-in now... I guess the market is flooded now.
I hope the battery life is good not just now that it's new but after a few months of use. Paying+1000€ for a phone to only work well for the first few weeks is not funny
Indeed. But consumers nowadays are happy to pay more for less so...
I went to best buy.. looked at the 8 and 8 pro cameras compared to my 7 pro and i wasnt really impressed.. they still look good but its almost exactly like my 7 pro
Same with the pixel 6 and 7, no discernible difference 😊
@@marksouthwell4490 yea I agree. And you would think with the disappointment on the camera upgrade side that Google would really upgrade the battery life, cellular connection and heating issues but it's all the same.
@@jasondefelice2710 I think the main improvement is the display, particularly the brightness., manual brightness too.Maybe improved hardware as in a slightly better build . Cameras are pretty good on the 6 and 7 series anyway, can't see how they can improve on this at the moment 😊
My question is about high end gaming. I got a game on my 7 pro that causes screen flickering, even on low graphics. I wouldn't want that to happen on the 8 pro.
Bro u dont buy a pixel to game
@@ainutoikea3552 lol I know that now. It was actually a gift from the wife last Christmas.
@@Risad gotcha
Pixels aren't gaming phones . Better options out there if you like gaming 😉
@@marksouthwell4490 yeah, I'm currently waiting to see what that have for black Friday and will probably switch to a galaxy ultra
Has the pixel eight got a glossy back?
yes
Unfortunately yes :(
Is it worth upgrading from pixel 6 to pixel 8?
1000%
Should i trade my galaxy flip for the pixel 8
10000%
My Pixel 7 has fingerprint issues. Doesn't work 9 times out of 10. Just the way Google handled it, this may be my last Pixel.
This is one of my gripes that these reviews never touch on. And the 7 overheated taking basic pictures and videos all summer... my guess is that the 8 does too but no one will notice in October and these reviewers who use the phone for a week won't mention. Just a tip though, if you are really frustrated with the fingerprint sensor, ditch the glass screen protector and go with just plastic unless you really think you will break the glass, plastic will protect from scratch and the fingerprint sensor works well with the plastic. I think you should be able to use glass but plastic will allow the reader to actually work if you get really frustrated
Mine works 10 times out of 10
Appreciate the video, just wish they didn’t handicap the 8 vs the 8 Pro.
Yeah it's a shame :(
Should I get a pixel 8 or pixel 7 pro? Both are around same price in my country.
8
8
wow, 7 years, definitely upgrade. Then next year, another video, you should definitely upgrade to the pixel 9.
That's the plan!:)
Im wondering if i should trade my s23u for the pixel 8 pro 🤔 😅
Hmmmmmm. I'd say maybe! But I think it would be a good idea to wait for the S24 Ultra to make your decision.
@@MarksTech thanks
Why do I feel like this is a marketing strategy to get us to click the link dowm below? 🤔
Well it’s simple, really, if you wanna buy the phone and you wanna save some money - feel free to click the link.
If you wanna buy the phone for full price and zero incentives, don’t click the link. Up to you 🤷🏼♂️ I’m just trying to save my viewers money
I just got a 7 for free black Friday from my provider
So much excitement because of nothing. Advertisement?
Trust me - it's not really worth it.
I'll stick to my P7 for now!
Any classic Pixel overheating? 🤔
Not yet! I'm surprised
@@MarksTech Nice, I'm also surprised 😁
I used it for 12 hours yesterday and no overheating at all. Battery only dropped down to 20% from full charge.
