- Who needs brakes? Or a throttle! Segway Customer support will gas light you into thinking you want the brakes to not work ;)

Had a GT2 with a bad master cylinder to the rear brakes. If I grabbed the brake quickly, it would work. If I pulled slowly on the brake to apply it, it wouldn’t work. Had a bike shop bleed the brake without any improvement. After some correspondence with Segway customer service, they paid to have the scooter shipped back and then sent me a new unit. New unit is working great! Turn around time for the warranty took months though
So, my local bike shop refused to look at it. I'll film a video this weekend to do it myself :D

You need to bleed the brakes. They are hydraulic. You also need to make sure there's enough fluid in there.
there are many users saying bleed doesnt work
First maybe right grip is too close to accelerator grip which makes it get stuck. Second maybe brakes need bleeding. Air in hydrolic brakes is maine reason for weak breaks or mushy breaks.
i really like the way this scooter handles and how stable it is to ride compared to any other high end scooter available. but why segway didn’t give this scooter electric brakes combined with mechanical brakes is a big miss.
i love and highly prefer electronic braking, sometimes called regenerative braking, among many other names. not because of its ability to add a little charge back to the main battery, but for two other reasons. make that three other reasons. electric brakes adds a backup layer of redundancy, to the braking system. for example, your brake is presently, randomly not functioning properly. if the segway gt 1 and gt2 came with electronic braking as well, as all (if i recall correctly) or at least 99% of all high end scooters in this price range come with electronic braking, if you had this on this scooter (electric brakes) you would still have a fail safe, for stopping, or a braking backup/redundancy system)
i hope segway adds electronic braking with the ability to adjust the level of braking power such as all dualtron scooters have, the nami burn e viper has, and most other high end scooters have.
please segway, upgrade the braking system to at least have adjustable regenerative electronic braking system as most scooters in this price range have.
i hope your sticking throttle and unpredictable braking system is repaired soon. this is highly dangerous and it is not safe at all, to ride with a sticking throttle, and unreliable braking (because of unknown reason, although could be a faulty brake caliper)
i would also like to see more of a motorcycle style/size/type of brake calipers and brake pads on this size of a scooter. the use of very small brake calipers with very little contact area for the brake pads to interact with the rotors is a recipe for disaster.
we need maximum surface area contact of brake pads, to brake rotors, for these larger super scooters.
i think this is one of the reasons the brakes are experiencing great difficulty. it is not a good match for this size of scooter. motorcycle size calipers, or at least several times larger brake pads, brake calipers, and actual brake pad contact area, are critical factors.
and i will say it again,
please add electric braking ability, to the segway super scooter (segway gt1 and gt2) this is highly desirable. with the ability to adjust the electric braking intensity, to preferred degrees.
lastly, electronic braking permits the brake pads to last, exponentially longer, than not having electronic braking, ability.
and i absolutely love the feel of electronic braking/regenerative braking. it is pure magnetic friction(magnetic resistance), rather than the grinding and wasting of brake pads, upon every use/application/stop.
and regenerative braking may add an extra 1/2 mile of range to the battery, per full battery use, which, is a plus +

hello friend! did you fic your throttle issue? maybe the handle on the side of the throttle has moved a little and pushing against it making it stuck?
Hi there friend! I used some silicone grease and that seems to have worked temporarily, but I’ll be trying to replace the throttle entirely soon
@@DrBernieBabylon ah ok nice! can i ask i know there is a thing on those gt2 scoots that when its not moving for 5sec the mode turns back to park. is there a way to deactivate that? its not annoying on the traffic lights?
@@billgangsta539 no there isn’t but if you hold the brakes it doesn’t do that!

I use a GoPro hero 10 on a chest mount! I have a microphone on the inside of my helmet too

hello i am thinking to buy a gt2 from ali express.. first do you believe its safe to buy it from there and what about its reliability.
mine is from Alibaba. I posted the exact listing somewhere in the comments of these videos, but I had an ok experience. It took like 2 or 3 months but I got it! as for reliability, I got the brakes working ok and the Segway team replaced my throttle for me, but it worked fine after some silicon lube. dont expect help though because you will not have a warranty from Segway if you purchase via Alibaba. I'm going to post a long term review soon :D
How did you resolve the stuck throttle? I have the same problem.
ended up replacing it, thankfully its plug n play :')
Ever heard of doing maintenance on your brakes? Also the throttle has a quick fix you can hit it with compressed air or WD-40 problem solved
Yes i have! and i did try that, i did ultimately have to swap it out for a new throttle, things are good now!

I never really got it fixed but the electric braking really helped so I dont notice anymore!
Guess I might as well wait for the Xiaomi E-scooter 4 Ultra instead...
I have a GT1 I frikkin hate it. I get 5 miles of range in race mode before it loses 30% power and then subsequently loses a ton of speed and power.
I only get around 15 miles of range on the GT1 and over half of that is at a snails pace.
I would have returned my GT1 already if not for the 15% restocking fee at Best Buy.
yea I am noticing a decline in speed and range too :/
I having the same issue in my GT1. The back brakes don’t work i have to press a few times for the brakes to work. I think the brakes need bleeding.
I think so too, but I am not sure which fluid to use, there doesn’t seem to be much info about these brakes…
@@DrBernieBabylon mineral oil. Take it to a bike shop. I just called my local bike shop and they fix it for $25. Ill take it there when im off

@@DrBernieBabylon Take it to bike shop and they will determin if it is mineral oil or DOT fluid. Very important as you can not mix them or use wrong stuff like DOT in mineral oil brake sistem. Most likely brake shave not been bled proparly in factory.

Ich kann leider nur schlecht englisch sorry! Ich beneide dich so ! Hier in Deutschland ist der nicht erlaubt im Strassenverkehr. Jeder Idiot mit nem Bike kann 80 kmh oder mehr fahren, Niemand regt sich da auf. Als einziges Land auf der Welt, gibt es in Deutschland eine Autobahn ohne Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung, du kannst so schnell fahren wie du willst. Aber Hauptsache der E Scooter in Deutschland fährt 20 KMH und nicht schneller! Der absolute Schwachsinn hier !!!!!!!!!!!!!
