I'm constantly surprised at the people whose thought process goes "Oh, my motorcycle is going too fast. Gas, gas, gas, I'm gonna step on the gas."
It's a side effect of the twist throttle. You accelerate and are being pulled backwards, but hanging on tighter tends to pull the throttle more, so it goes out of control. You have to do the un-intuitive action of relaxing your grip a bit and twisting forward to slow down.
They call that whiskey throttle.
i keep asking myself what did they think would happen if everything happened perfectly for them.
It also matters a lot in how you establish your grip.
If you grab the throttle with your wrist flat, its pretty much impossible to go out of control because it would break your grip.

It's both disturbing and terrifying that the girl didn't know what a real phone looked like before mobile phones became so common just 15-20 years ago.

If it makes you feel better, I think I’m around her age if not a bit older (17) and I’m aware of the many types of older phones from before the smartphone era. I see them pretty commonly in media and pop culture, even I’m surprised when members of my generation don’t know abt the history of technology.
