- How to cut open a 55 gallon drum with a Uline barrel opener. Don't be stupid, guys. If there's a build up of gases in the barrel you can get maimed or killed. This is the safe, easy way to open the steel barrel.
I have a Uline barrel cutter, but you could get this Wesco barrel deheader: amzn.to/2KWbhRj

Thanks for posting the warning at the beginning. Before you go cutting into an old drum, be damn sure the old contents were not flammable. Even a drum that seems empty can have enough vapors to explode. A guy in Iowa killed himself welding over an old barrel that he thought was empty, and there are a lot of other stories out there. Filling the drum with water can displace vapors if done correctly.
This is what I use to open my Costco baked beans.
Paul Bunyan can opener! We needed those yesterday. Beats crossing your fingers and using the chopsaw
Slick as snot. LOL thanks Ed for sharing that tip. Cool gadget by uline. ATB Mike
These work great but they leave a lot of sharp edges that you will need to grind down if it is used as a chip barrel that has many different hands on them.
Awesome. Great tool. Thanks bub!!
Burn barrels work a lot better if you cut off both ends.
Thanks bro! You just doubled my profit when selling these!
Hey quiet storm. I sell them as well
@@matthill3223 T want to buy it
Have you tried to use a lever locking lid on a steel barrel after removing the old lid? Does it work?
Thank you sir
Thanks Ed!!!
Cool! I've got one of those!
Its basically a big can opener.
I think that gadget is money well spent. It cuts it nice and trim and doesn't cause explosion or fires.
This tool will NOT cut all metal drums. Some, if not all drums have a taller bead on both ends now a days. The blade will NOT make contact with the metal on these drums. I have this tool and has worked on less than half of the drums I have cut. Air chisel , saws-all. If you use a saw you have to have a bead of oil so the blade won't bind.
Wish I had seen your comment before I dropped $80 on this thing. Doesn't work on my barrels.
Since I only plan on doing something like this once a decade or do i will probably just use cold chisel, but that looks like a good tool.
For $60.00 this is the way to go.
@@leonardhall7203 I already have a cold chisel.
Where to buy that tool?
If its just residual liquid and not full of compressed vapors, you will be fine. Just be sure its empty and has a vent hole.
Heck yeah, man.
Grind the top off the lid like a door skin off a car.
Thanks.
I got one of those in my kitchen draw.
I have an electric 1 on my kitchen top a little smaller.
ULINE raised their price to $100 in 4 years ?
Air hammer works even better
you got a video?
Would u feel safe using that tool on a barrel that contained brake cleaner ?
Yes
Can it be cut on its side instead of the top?
I'm sure it can't. I need that upper lip to keep it in place. Plus I'm very sure that it would deform the can just like it did to the "lid".
That looks like it took a lot of muscle power. Do you think a female might have enough strength to use it?
I use a grinder
Got one of those at my work i can open like 5 drums in 5 mins with one
what is that thing is called?
For a tool I'd never use again, no thanks
We’re do u get a ugliness??
I have a Uline barrel cutter, but you could get this Wesco barrel deheader: amzn.to/2KWbhRj (The Uline is not on Amazon, but this is basically the same tool.)
Hell naw
black barrels matter
