- Knight Rider is an American television series created and produced by Glen A. Larson. The series was originally broadcast on NBC from 1982 to 1986. The show stars David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a high-tech modern crime fighter assisted by KITT, an advanced artificially intelligent, self-aware and nearly indestructible car. This was the last series Larson devised at Universal Television before he moved to 20th Century Fox.

Larson.[5] The series DVD bonus material contains an interview about this lead music, where Glen A. Larson says he remembers a theme out of a classical piece ("Marche Et Cortège De Bacchus" Act III - No. 14 from Sylvia written by French composer Léo Delibes) from which he took pieces for the "Knight Rider Theme". The decision to use synthesizers was largely a network decision. Larson claims that they used five or six synthesizers, drums and a Fender bass.

That shot of the car in the desert at dusk kicking up dust, the pink and purple sky, that music, the lights, KITT's voice and the Hoff in all his absolute glory - how can a show that's full of gun play, stunts and crashes be so wholesome?
I was born 2002 but this TV show is still a part of my childhood as TV6 in sweden used to broadcast this every week.
Us 80s kids has the best TV in modern history and could buy ten sweets for 10p yet obesity wasn’t even in our vocabulary. We watched awesome TV then played outside, rode our bikes, climbed trees and participated in the odd bit of mischief. Best times ever!

Everyday this year my grandad would show me episodes of both knight rider, amazing stories, twilight zone, laurel and hardy and incredible hulk and I would enjoy every one of them. The pure nostalgia you get when watching these fun filled shows allow me to appreciate how much these people have given to bring a smile to people's faces.

I and siblings watched this show every Tuesday night back in the early 80s when it came on at 8pm. Brings back AWESOME childhood memories!
My childhood was Knight Rider and the A team we loved them shows here in the UK they don't make them like this anymore.

Such a great time, television was absolute gold back then.
I miss that feeling where Saturdays and Sundays were best spent in front of a television, it was exciting. you could go from Knight Rider to Columbo, even shows like the Waltons and little house on the prairie were peak comfort.
Some of my best memories are me and my brother just lazing around on a Sunday playing games and watching tv shows like KR and movies like Wargames and Tron.

I remember watching this after studies at 10:30 p.m. back in the 1980s. Waited the whole week for watching cartoons and TV series like Heman, Swat Cats, Thundercats, A-Team and Knight Rider, McGuyver, Air Wolf and Street Hawk. Those were the best days of my life. I want those days back.😌😌

Stu Phillips, bless him, composed the legendary Knight Rider theme, as well as the themes for McCloud and Battlestar Galactica. As of 2023, he is 94 years young!
