    I am excited you got started so young. If you do things right by the time you're 25-30 you could have the business set up so you're basically retired. Good luck on your adventure. I look forward to following your progress over the years.

    Age 17 and already killing it bigger than most small business owners in the lawn care industry... Big respect bro. I been helping my dad's business as a kid and always had frustrations about wether just going about my own and doing my own thing.. you are in shape too I see, keep killing it man, I know you are gonna be even bigger at the rate you are going! 😤💪

      Heck yeah man. My simple advice to you and your dad's business- if you see it as a jump start into your career so you can make more money sooner, go for it. But if you're like me, you want to earn it, and never have anyone tell you that you only did it because of daddy's money.

    This may be too late, but nix the Ford Raptor if it has a turbo charged V-6. I used to sell trucks. Customers complained about the V-6 towing limitations. Go with a 2500 series with whatever you buy. The Raptor is not a tow truck.

    • @themowtivated
      @themowtivated  Před rokem +1

      Haha just picked up a 3500 instead of a Raptor.

    Buying a raptor is cool but it's a poor business move. Not being negative just hoping to help. This is a grow or die business and you will never regret getting a larger truck like a 250 or 1 ton. It dosnt have to be new but newer is a plus. It will allow you to have a heavier payload if needed as well as taking very little wear pulling your trailer.

    don't buy the cookie cutter light duty truck, get the 250/2500's they pull better, better control of a trailer load like that and better mileage, and longevity is almost 3 times as much due to less wear and tear better transmission and engine package with more gears to handle the towing. and is an absolute must for any enclosed trailer over 14' i have found, professionally for a bigger commercial state wide landscape company.
    used mowers with such low hours should last easily until 1400 hours, you can take them to 3000-4000 hours if you bought them brand new and took good care of them.
    mower troubles? check out taryl fixes all on YT. the fast track probably just has a corroded starter wire. could be the return wire to the battery also, carb issue.
    change your oil, air and fuel filters every year some times twice. every 40 for the oil is recommended and is good care, but every month is decent too. i can listen and hear when the motor starts to strain under loads it doesn't with fresh oil, that's the signal to change the oil and filter. check the oil on EVERY MACHINE every day no matter what preferably at the beginning of the day before leaving to the jobsite where you have oil and tools to remedy any problems!
    clean your air filter every month!!!! cuts down engine strain but more importantly saves fuel up to a gallon every 2 days. just pull it off, tap it out on the paper ridges on a flat level surface outside like a driveway and be upwind from it. if you have access to an air compressor blowing it out after tapping it out is even better. if you can't feel good air moving thru the paper any more it's time to throw it out, it's shot. this is all part of the good maintenance to get your equips to last 3,000 hours.
    acessories like a bagger, make sure they are interchangeable for 2 or more of your machines, incase that machine dies on the job or just becomes junk, so that accessory doesn't become wasted money and something you can't make money with any more.
    also, in my state any one under 18 legally can't pull a trailer for commercial purposes, and 18+ you are required to have a health card ever 2-3 years which you can get from your physician for $80 and it's just basically a physical, like you do for sports, they just want to make sure you don't have diabetes epilepsy and won't die of a heart attack and have good vision so you don't crash into things and kill some one. federal D.O.T. motorcarrier laws that applies to every one who gets paid and has to drive as part of their commerce.

    Where do you put grass clippings and debris that you haul away?

    • @themowtivated
      @themowtivated  Před rokem +1

      Generally in paper bags, I'll load it in the bed of the truck, or I'll put up plywood in the trailer and load it in there. I don't bag clippings so I don't have to worry about there.

      Depends where he's at just basic math if you did 50 yards x 50.00 6 months that's 60 grand right there mowing and that's only 10 yards a day 5 days a week. Plus you can add in (area pending) leaf removal, pressure washing , extra lawncare stuff like mulching, hedge trimming etc easy 100k a year
