    Aussie Al here and I owned a 91 FN model in Red. Purchased it as second owner with 48,000km on clock and kept it for just on 20 years and another 100,000km. Was used every day (well nearly every day) to commute Queenslands famous Kuranda Range (Cairns) and tour the East coast of Australia. I absolutely cherished the beast. It will quite easily pull 250km/h (150mph) and It would powerslide out of bends in the right rev range and every day when off to work it would be warmed up and on my dirt road i would fishtail for just on 80m thru 1st , 2nd then into third. I know it sounds like i abused it in that sense but it was looked after and the only problem it EVER encounted was with a full touring load the center stand gave way just as I finished filling the tank in a garage. The weld gave way and this is a problem that can occur (probably later in life as it turns out) apart from that the clocks polycarbonate face deteriorates but yours being garaged i cant see that happening. gave it to my nephew five years ago when i bought a 45foot boat to live on and he's only just sold it and bought a Harley. (everyone to their own i guess).
    Such a strong ,sturdy ,reliable beast and i do miss her. I now have a 1991 VTR 1000F 🏍 and its great but its just not the same, Vtwins are good but Vfours are great. Enjoy the new addition or should i say addiction to the garage and alternate those rides. Stay Safe & Stay Upright. 🤙

      Aussie Al again sorry two things. Center Stand Collapse & they will chew through voltage regulators (3 0ver the twenty years) so try and find a finned model if it happens , no when it happens.

      @@allanross7969 Cheers mate.. awesome comment! Sounds like you had a brilliant relationship with your VFR, and that is some mileage, kudos my friend!👊🏼 Mine only has 14k so I feel a little inadequate in comparison 😂
      Your experience and many others I read online was what convinced me to pull the trigger and finally get a VFR of my own! I have always wanted one, but the timing was never quite right, or I purchased something else.. but I am super pleased with this one..
      Your VTR is a great bike as well, I guess my TLR would be the Suzuki equivalent.. but yeah, that V4 motor is the best of both worlds, torquey, but revs when you want to..

    You got very lucky finding that bike. Owned one when nearly new. I eventually bought a 1995 vfr 750 brand new. Sold that after test riding a 1998 vfr 800. Of the 3, it’s tough to choose between them. All different. The 1998 vfr 800 was the most sorted in stock form. Also the easiest to lose your license on. It masked speed eerily well. It sucked you into rolling down 2-lane roads at 85-90 while feeling like 55-60. That’s actually why I sold it. Along with my 1993 Ducati 888. Neither of the bikes was particularly fast in the Gixxer sense, but they both just lulled into this la de da sense that you were just pooling along, when in fact you were in go-to-jail territory. Now in my 60’s, I ride an old air cooled 1990 Moto guzzi lemans 1000 and a 91 Ducati 900ss. Any more motor than these bikes have is pointless on public roads, imo. YMMV, obviously.

    • @woooster71
      @woooster71  Před měsícem

      @user-hh9cu2px9g Thanks for the comment my friend.. & I absolutely did get lucky with the VFR, low miles & completely original, including the long rear mudguard (not fitted, but goes with the bike). I almost purchased an earlier VFR, an '89, gen 2 I think? It was also white, and looked great..from 5 meters away. So I'm glad I passed on it & found this RC36. 👍
      I have never owned a VFR, so I'm learning about them daily..
      A Ducati 888 is up there as one of my top 4 bikes, particularly the SP's, beautiful bikes!
      I totally agree with re: bikes with a licence losing propensity.. but at 52 my crazy days are behind me, & I'm happy just to pootle around 😊
      That's a lovely pair of bikes you have, the '91 900SS is an underrated Ducati, it still has that old school aircooled vibe.
      Ride safe on them my friend, & thanks for the comment...always appreciated 😊👍

    Absolutely beautiful. In '91 it was the red one that took my fancy.
    Is it expensive in the UK to keep bikes on the road with road tax/registration? Here in Queensland, Australia, the annual tax for a bike is similar to a car!

    • @woooster71
      @woooster71  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks bro, much appreciated.. I like the red too, but it was always a white VFR that I wanted. I just love the clean look of them. 😁
      It can be just as expensive here too.. bike tax is/was generally cheaper than a car, but cars are now taxed based on their emissions, so it could be £20/year or £700+/year for a car.. Bikes are based on cc, so around £117/year for a 600cc & above. But I only tax mine for 6 months during summer. In the winter you can take them off the road and declare a SORN (statutory off road notification) which is free once declared.
      On top of that there is the yearly safety check, MOT.. so it starts to add up.
      Governments mate, it seems no matter the country, they know how to shaft their motorists and citizens for every penny they have! 😏

    Hi Wayne,
    An incredible find that VFR FM or is it the FL?
    1990 and 1991 had ever so slightly different decals.
    I much prefer your one.
    I thought about getting one a year or two ago.
    I do prefer the red/ white wheels one however the white was a very close second.
    Wow it's even got the little side stand fairing.
    Absolutely beautiful.
    I'm still reducing my bikes.
    I think my red H2 is sold.
    Prior to recommissioning it £3000
    I just don't have the energy to maintain them all. A few yes but not more than a few.
    Can I ask you what you payed for that lovely VFR please.
    And finally a question about your old fireblade:-
    That fuel filter. Did you put that one on it ?
    Was there one there originally?
    My rrt doesn't have one so I automatically thought there's one in the tank?
    H'mmm
    Best regards.

      Hi mate, you sold your ZXR? £3000? That's a lovely bike, £3k seems too low.. but I know the market is a bit slow at the moment..
      Cheers mate, it's an FL, '91.. I'm learning slowly about VFR nomenclatures slowly 😄 I paid £3995 for it, from a main dealer, but it had the valve clearances checked, serviced, mot's & new front tyre.. There's not many left in this condition.
      It also came with a rare uncut undertray which I've stored, & a high level Delkevic exhaust.
      You're right, there is a filter sock in the tank but as I just cleaned the carbs I thought I'd put extra protection in place.
      Cheers for the comment as usual Colin 👍

      If you want to sell the Delkevic let me know. I’ve had my Blue (black) FN for 30 years, wonderful machine. The looks just don’t seem to age. Will never sell it.

    You ask 'Decent purchase'...well we got to know what you paid before we can decide. It's a stunner but if you paid silly money then no.

      It was worth what I paid..to me. It was a fair amount less than £4k.

    How much do you pay to keep them road legal?

    • @woooster71
      @woooster71  Před měsícem

      I tend to rotate what bikes I use each year.. and I have a multi policy which is usually around £300 to cover 3 or 4 bikes.
      The other costs not usually considered is servicing, which I do myself.. but 7 lots of engine oil adds up 😄

      You'd be fine. It's fairly easy once you're used to the v-four power delivery.. It's an awesome bike to ride, especially when you open the throttle! 😄👍

      Thanks mate, there's just something about a white VFR 😎🤍
      The Blade will be up for sale as soon as it's running & purring again. I've just cleaned the carbs and about to replace the spark.plugs. It hasn't been used for 4 years so the carbs were full of green crud! 🤢

      Drop me a message when you put the fireblade up for sale with details and price mate, I’ve been after a decent 900 blade for a while in the original colours prior to your Repsol kit. Cheers mate
