    I had a GameMax PSU which I installed in my server computer a few years back as a "test". Still going strong now so great to see them still making them. Fantastic option for a budget build, thanks Mike and Kath 🙂

    Good video. I dunno.. Up until this week, I would have been fine with budget power supplies. An ARESGAME 850W 80Plus psu that I bought brand new 15 months ago from Amazon went sideways and destroyed a rtx 3060ti this week. (I use a surge protector, So..) I initially thought it was the motherboard that had went wonky and did the damage since it still turned on but the video output had massive lines and the pc was very slow to do anything BUT I found out differently when I when I hooked up another motherboard/psu & video card and still had multiple problems, I then hooked up a 600w Evga psu that I had lying around and the newer motherboard setup works fine. The ARESGAME 850W under warranty but what chance do I have of getting the motherboard & video card replaced. I would say slim to none and slim just boarded a bus heading out of town. I ordered a new 850W Cosair 80+ Gold psu since I also got a good "Prime day" deal on a 13700k cpu, z790 motherboard, cpu cooler, nvme drive & psu. My last Intel pc was an i7 4790, it's been a while.

    • @roythunderplump
      @roythunderplump Před rokem +2

      On paper. It's the recent rumours of EVGA winding down as a business and warranty support. Customers always get shafted when that happens.

    • @OlettaLiano
      @OlettaLiano Před rokem +3

      @@roythunderplump I'm not worried about warranties. If EVGA calls it quits and this PSU breaks, I'll just buy another one from someone else.

      @@roythunderplump that rumor would not stop me from buying an EVGA PSU if the price was right and I was able to know who the OEM was. Only issue I ever had with one was after a couple a years, the fan was making a hideous noise. It was much easier and cheaper, for me, to just change the fan for a much better quality one instead of starting an RMA process and now it is silent.

    I tried a cheap PSU once and I cannot say I was impressed. Sure enough, I'm torturing my computer, but I though the excess wattage would make up for the quality, I was wrong, hopefullym nothing bad happened, but I learned my lesson..
