I had to laugh that you buy many expensive resonator guitars but complained that the flat wound string set cost $40
Very nice demonstration and you are definitely worthy of those nice instruments....I'm envious....
I own many guitars but never invested in a resonator.....but now I want one....

The first steel bodied Mule was probably my favorite. But, I pretty much love them all. Thanks for sharing these. Can’t wait for you to get another resonator or two and devote another episode to them! 😜

I love all of Matt’s guitars. I have a steel cutaway, and a Mavis (also cutaway). I have another one Mule ordered and it will be a 12 string. I’ve been working diligently on Rev Gary Davis’s ‘Death don’t have no mercy’ on my 6 strings but, can’t wait for the 12 string. I really liked the blue one a whole lot though!

Mule is my dream guitar. Unfortunately I cannot afford one. I will live with my Gretch.
My favorite of yours is the Mavis. Also share your Martins. Sometime could you do baritone guitars.

Tony! Thanks for making my day. I had just awakened from my nap yesterday to get ready to fly the redeye back to LAX from Maui and tuned into the Acoustic Tuesday show. (BTW I had completed a nice 30 minute practice session with my Taylor GS Mini before the nap - re learning the lick "Tax Deduction Scavenger Hunt") I was thrilled that you mentioned my comment on your show about traveling with guitars. As far as the cargo compartments on airliners, they are all pressurized and sometimes they are heated depending on the type of jet. I love being a member of the "TAC Family" and these great Acoustic Tuesday shows. Thanks for sharing your passion for guitar, your amazing teaching and playing skills. The "Blue Bastard" is too cool!

AMA Tony, would you consider having a multiple year TAC student visit & play sometime with you on a (Iris) guitar you inspired to show how old tunes help folks with dementia? I know you support Guitars 4 Vets, just wondering about folks with dementia or the Montana Chapter Alzheimer's Association?

Hey Tony, your show was, is, and will be...Awesome! Got a kick out of the J.L.H. houseparty clip. Spontaneity is what it's all about, whether it's a busker, a food truck appearance, or ordinary folks breaking into song and dance to the sound of a car radio. As the song goes, " we're here for good time, not a long time..."

Thanks for another entertaining and informative Acoustic Tuesday. If you wanted to rehome one of your resonators I would give the Blue Devil a good home. I really liked the tone with the flat wound strings and it sounded like it would be a little more forgiving in less than capable hands, like mine. Thats the thing with resonators when played well they are a thing of beauty. When played poorly that sound could make a freight train take a dirt road. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard or pulling the cotton out of a medicine bottle it just sends chills throughout my body. I also liked the snippet on the Furch factory, I recently purchased a Furch Vintage 2 OM SR and absolutely love this guitar. It would be interesting to see and hear your vintage Martin's in an upcoming episode.

Great video, Tony. What I'd like to know is, a) do you get any use out of the cutaway, and b) is there any disadvantage to not having a built-in pick-up? Otherwise, it seems like your two resonators are essentially the same -- except for the strings. Any comment? Thanks!

Love the baby blue. And would love to see your vintage Martins! I have a National RAW steel 12 fret. Ive never seen a Mule in person, but their colors are stunning, especially their 1970's puke green color and this baby blue too. Id get their green, cutaway, relic'd a bit (if you google: Mule resonator green and click images; there is one from Mule, love it.)

    AMA Do you play ukulele?
Note: If you capo a guitar at the 5th fret and play the first four treble strings, that’s a uke! (Assuming you use a “low G” for the fourth string. Standard G strings are an octave higher, same notes for chords, giving the uke a distinctive jangle.) It’s a light, easy couch and travel way to get better acquainted with the higher frets of your guitar.

Hey. Have you ever tried Newtone strings on your resonators? Made in a small workshop in Derbyshire in England? They are designed to reach pitch at lower tension and are a joy to play on a resonator. They send to the US. Give them a try.

AMA. Hi Tony, my question has to do with my practice routine - at least I think it does. When I set a goal to learn a riff or a song or a technique such as slide guitar, I tend to dive into it 100% and do nothing but that one riff, song or technique for about a month or so. The problem is, when I stop concentrating on that one thing, it seems I've forgotten lots of other things I used to know. So how do I get new techniques down while not losing what I already was pretty good at. Thanks for what you do, Tony.

AMA Are you still swinging a golf club these days? I find that golf and guitar are mutually beneficial. When my golf swing is “off”, I go and play guitar, concentrating on rhythm and tempo. When my guitar playing is “off”, I go to the range and swing a golf club, concentrating on my rhythm and tempo.

AMA: If you find an older instrument that sounds good and is otherwise in good condition, is checking of the finish a good reason to avoid making a purchase? If you go for it, is there any special treatment one should do to preserve the instrument's quality? Thanks for all you do, Tony. All my best to the TAC family.

#AMA Tony, I've watched every episode of acoustic tuesday you've done in order to find a question you've not answered in one way or another. I've thought of 2 you've not addressed or if you have they're so obscure I overlooked them.
    1) would you ever do an episode for electric players switching to acoustic guitar and what to expect? I would've loved this information when I got my 1st acoustic

Easy, unless you play totally clean tones (no overdrive or reverb), you probably won't sound as good as you think you are. I play both. I honestly enjoy playing acoustic. I think there is nothing better than a really nice acoustic tone. But there are some songs (rock mostly) where electric guitar just gets the sound you want. Do it; you'll find satisfaction in both and being able to use the instrument that best suits what you're playing at the moment.

I liked the steel tricone. Please send it to me. OK, just kidding about sending it to me, but I do have a question about "the Blue Bastard": You said that you use Tomastik flatwound strings. Could you be more specific about which set this is? Among their acousting string sets, I am seeing hybrid sets with round- and flat-wound strings, but then there is the Classic S that appears to come in different versions. Is it the Classic S that you are using?
