You are da man!
👍
Not all heroes wear capes…
What an king move. Thank you - and you didn't even ruin the surprise.
I like Makers Mark Cask Strength better but then again WT 101 kind of tastes like mm cask strength
I am fortunate to have them all in my 175 Bottle collection that started about 40 years ago. I was glad to see OF 1920 on the list. You saved the best for last. I only pay normal retail for bourbon. I have several bottles that were purchased only about 7 years ago for under $40.00 that are now impossible to find such as Rock Hill Farms and Elmer T. Lee. There is no reason to chase allocated bourbons when there are so many good bourbons under $60.00 that are on the shelf everyday. Great List!
What’s your favorite 5-10 great bourbons that are usually available?
@@johnklose6540 All of these are available in most stores here in CT and are all less than $60.00. Old Forester single barrel, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and Rare Breed, George Remus, Russell’s Reserve single barrel and 10 year, Knob Creek small batch, Makers 46, Four Roses single barrel, Woodford double Oak.
@The 0% Liberal Show I’m looking to pick up a bottle of that today! Cheers from Florida!
I know its been a while , but …Was wandering if any bottles over the years in your collection , does the bourbon change at all over the years . I mean would a nice bourbon save for 10 yrs . Say at 1/3 a bottle left ?
@@m.ramsey6396 The bourbon will definitely change over time depending on how much air is in the bottle, how long it has been, the temperature it is stored at and how good a seal you have. If you have a bottle that is 2/3 full and is only a year old it is probably like new. A 1/3 full bottle a few years old is much different than when it was first opened. If you have a small amount of a bourbon that you want to keep intact, put it in a smaller bottle.
This is hands down the most comprehensive beginner bourbon list. I love it man! Thank you for everything you do!
I wish those were still the prices for these…
This right here is why you're my favorite channel. The history and storytelling is spot on very interesting. Well done sir.
If someone were to make a top 10 whiskeytube videos you need to watch, this would be in it. And probably 5 more of your videos. You'd dominate the list, let's be frank. Thanks for the knowledge!
Nope Matt at ADHD Whiskey rules the internet
Pulls cork. Murrica! Cracks me up every time.
I started drinking bourbon 6 years ago at a bar called Husk in Charleston, SC. Asked for a bourbon for a person who wanted to like it but was struggling to get over the harshness. Bartender served me Basil Hayden in a special glass with this huge ice ball. Next day, he introduced me to Woodford's and 3rd day Blanton's. Thanks to your channel, my collection has grown. I think I tend to love anything from Buffalo Trace or Heaven Hill right off the bat but working on branching out
Facts 👍
Basil Hayden is the gateway to bourbon and you gotta appreciate it for what it is. It’s like your first love, you appreciate them for the memories but probably never wanna go back once you’ve moved on from it!
Love Husk😎
My gateway bourbons were OF 100 and Larceny.
@@100puremustard5 I have not had Old Forester yet but I will soon. Larceny is wonderful. I may need a second job to support my bourbon habit after finding this channel
I started Bourbon hunting 3 months ago. So far I have a buffalo trace store pick, a trails end 8 year, eagle rare, Breckenridge reserve blend, and an EH Taylor small batch. So excited to see what I hunt next
Dam that’s a nice start, especially that Taylor
LOVED this video!!! Great shots of the Whiskey room and a great list for ANY whiskey lover.
"That's right, I said it" beautiful!
I loved watching this because I have a list of “10 Bourbons to start with” that I made to share with friends getting into bourbon. I got my list as I watched and 7 of them were exactly the same. It’s great your $400 list had exactly 10. The three that were different were: you had Makers 46, EH Taylor SB (still hard to find in N Texas), and G Remus (I have a full proof GR that I love). My three that were different that I had were: WT Rare Breed (nothing wrong with 2 Turkey’s), 1792 Small Batch, and Regular Buffalo Trace.
Great list for people starting to learn about bourbon. I tell them to subscribe to your channel too and they will pick up a lot. Cheers 🥃
Old Forester 1920 for me is always up there. Everyone has been getting me Blanton's at retail from the airport duty free lol
What airport?
@@colbyshaw2256 Miami but I have seen some posted from Dallas and Atlanta airport
I have about half of these already in the collection. And tried most of the others. Haven't had Blantons or George Remus yet.
@@jswebhead A Rare Breed would have been good in there. Blanton's is not "hard" to find for me per se. I see it all the time, it is just expensive. and I am not putting down 150-200 for that even if I am trading it.
@@anthodebourbon Nice pick. +1 on Rare Breed, also really like Russell's 10 year old.
This is fantastic. Not only are picks really solid choices, but loved the consideration of the history and stories behind each of these selections. This really shows your passion for the history of this beloved spirit, and the enjoyment you get passing that along to others. I can appreciate the research that must have went into this particular video and kudos to the presentation of this interesting information, all while keeping it under 30 minutes. Great work...thank you :)
Absolutely loved this video Jason. This is an amazing list. Great job!
Solid list for beginners. I completely agree! Loved the history you shared behind them all as well.
This is really well chosen. I can't disagree with a thing -> though i'd maybe make Rare Breed my bonus bottle.
Love the Wild Turkey Rare Breed, both, bourbon and especially the rye...
AMEN 🙏!!!!!!!!
Or even a cheap one like Evan Williams BIB
@@jeremybaumgartner867 no. Just no lol. All I get on the ew bib is new oak and not much else. But you can’t expect greatness for a $20 1.75L bottle imo.
@@Sleepy_spartan717 What I am saying is, for the price you can’t get much better than Evan Williams BIB! It is so great for around $20!
I'm just starting to get into bourbon and this was very helpful. I especially appreciate the history you included. Great video!
This is probably my favorite bourbon video. What a great list. I’m glad I have a few of these bottles in my beginner bourbon collection.
Very educational.
Hands down the absolute best "list" video with a splendid blend of history and product! This content is why this channel earned my patronage.
LOVE IT! Thanks soooooo much for all the history!!!!!
Someone will have the most difficult time coming up with a list that is better. As usual you nailed this. All hail the king go whiskey review!
This is a great lineup Jason! A little bit of everything to explore and find your preferences through in the bourbon journey, also all hitters in their own right. Cheers!
The best part about this video, is the education of each bottle! Well done sir! 👍🏽 Cheers!
Love the selections are based on history and sharing stories with your friends!
Thanks for the history lesson. It adds to the overall bourbon experience. Great job!
Great story behind each bottle, well done!!
Tremendous list. I have most of these on hand right now and have had all of them in my collection at some time. Great combination of price, quality, variety, and history. Cheers! 🥃
So, I just bought my 1st Whiskey, I'm 53 yrs old, LoL, this video is friggin great.
Got yourself a new Subscriber, thank you Sir.
As a beginner, I really enjoyed this. It's obvious how much work you put into this. Thanks for doing it!
One of the best collections I’ve seen. The Taylor is still super premium and hard to find for me though.
agreed. Hard to find in michigan
Taylor, eagle rare, blantons, impossible in Illinois... Unless you pay about triple msrp.
Video was 7 months ago. Yes, the market shifts that quickly. Good luck out there.
For a newby such as myself thats a GREAT GREAT selection! Thanks Mr.C
You never cease to amaze me. Wow . Your knowledge of the subject matter and the historical background give life to the Bourbon whiskey you are discussing.
Really enjoyed the list and a little history lesson. Seeing I’m a scotch guy that has recently been bitten by the bourbon bug, I have 3 of those bottles. I’m a bit surprised not to see 1792, Evan Williams, Old Grandad BiB, or Henry McHenna.
Appreciate this. Good blending of history with your recommendations.
I didn't realize i had a 400$ collection minus Remus one. Nice
Loved this episode. Great history and great bourbon for anyone’s collection. Well done!
The way you seamlessly weave in the history with the profile with your own personal commentary makes for a very quick 25 minutes! Happy to say I’ve got 10 of 11 on the shelf (Uncle Remus... Where are you???). Well done!
What a great video for collectors who want a quality base!
I recently started learning and collecting whiskey and I am excited to see that I have all these bottles except the Remus, Maker 46 and 4 roses high rye. Makes me feel good about my journey so far. Also, I learned that I really like a sweet wheated bourbon, such as Weller. Which means maker 46 here I come! Thanks again for the great video and content. Love this type of history/educational videos. Cheers!
Great selection Jason. I couldn’t agree with you more. Generally available most everywhere. And good representation of the major distillers
Digging the 10 bottle lay out even the bonus. Fabo job! Of course, you did this video after I was already 40 bottles in 🤷🏽♀️ cheers! 🥃
You really need to just buy one bottle of Blantons. After you finish it just fill it with a blend of Benchmark and John J Bowman Sib.
Michters US 1
Ancient Ancient Age 10 star is closer to the Blanton's profile and that's what I do.
😂
I started my bourbon journey about a month ago and love this channel. I have learned so much in that short amount of time. I hope to start my collection soon, already have Knob Creek and going on the hunt for more. Thanks for the channel!
Thanks buddy. Glad your enjoying the content.
100% agree! Just started my bourbon path 12/22 and I have all of these already. All great choice’s Jason!
Have ‘em all, love ‘em all. Great lineup and video!
Excellent list! Lots of great bourbons in there. I’m still new to bourbons and am learning new things every day. Gathering good bourbons to share, you want them all, right now! Haha! As a friend told me, “it’s a marathon, not a sprint”. I stumbled across Eagle Rare at a Target near me just yesterday. Guy was opening the box as I rounded the corner to the liquor aisle. Cheers!
A rather delicious way to start a collection. I've been enjoying bourbon for over 40 years, but only began collecting it during the pandemic. I've had about half of these on my shelf in the last year.
Bravo sir 👏👏👏 absolutely love videos like this. Extremely informative and this is a great start to ANY collection
Dude you’re very knowledgeable in bourbon’s. I’m sure it took time to do your research, because of the leg work you put in, I subscribed today. I look forward to future videos and discovering your previous uploads.
This guy killing it with his bourbon review channel. Best on CZcams. Period. Keep keeping on.
Awesome video Jason. Would love to see this trend on WhiskeyTube like the “You Only Need 5 Bottles” videos that have made their rounds!
Great selection Jason. Cheers.
I have everything but the Remus. I'll have to pick that one up. Love the whiskey room. Very nice.
Your whiskey room and layout is very impressive Jason! I'll have to steal some of your ideas to build my own some day!👍
Friggin great list and great idea!
You pretty much nailed it... Larceny could have been included as well as Old Grand Dad 114... Also, Uncle Nearest,, a good, or great budget pour.. These three are all easily found, and very reasonably priced.
I also love OGD 114 and Larceny. Great budget bourbons.
I’ve had all but the Remus. All great pours. Probably the best obtainable list I’ve ever seen! 🤙🏼
Perfect list! Thank you!
The intro is awesome 🤩. Thanks for the view!
Great educational video!! Thanks
Great list Jason!!!
Other than the Remus, which I've never seen on a shelf, I always keep the rest of the list in my collection. This list is a great variety of flavors that anyone can appreciate.
What’s your list ?
Nice line-up even for today, thanks!
Thank you! Been drinking Bulleit for years and decided this year to branch out and explore. I buy one bottle at a time, and this video will save me so much time as I hunt around for my perfect bourbon.
Love the list, I just started collecting bourbon about 8months ago and have been watching your channel and a few others (bourbon junkies, ADHD whiskey and The deathless dogs) for tips on what to buy and I am happy to say I have every bottle in this list except the George Remus, I haven't been able to find that but I'm still looking! Loved this video and everything you put out, please keep them coming :)
You nailed it! Fantastic list. I have most of these bottles. Looking forward to owning all of them, some day...
Great info here Jason. Thanks
This is your best video. One of the best on CZcams in regards to bourbon. Good job man.
Amazing list, I own every one of those! Hilarious we share the same distaste for Haydens...lol! Thanks again Jason!
I’d be interested in seeing your list for the high-end $ bourbons that are worth their price vs. those that are more marketing than substance. Love your show... my #1 and ONLY go-to reviewer 👍
I also would love to see a higher dollar list...worth the price and quality.
SOLID!! I have them all, but I want a MASH and DRUM hat!
Great video, thank you for the list and for the history.
Own all of these. Great list.
awesome collection you have! thanks for a great video!
That's a great list. Easy to get and a nice mix of distilleries
Just found your channel. Thanks for the such great list! I especially enjoyed the stories behind the bottle. I finally found my first bottle of Eagle Rare. Can't wait to share!
Great collection and I love the Blanton's at the end!! I love your humor brother!!
Can't argue with this collection. Especially since I have 5 in my collection already.
If I were to do this myself, I would have almost certainly listed 90% of your same picks. I would recommend your video to everyone!
Love this episode. A good list.
If CZcams translated this for Canadian viewers it would be titled "The Perfect $1,500 Bourbon Collection for Hardcore Hunters"
more like 750,,,come on..lol
geez, I know. $35 for WT 101 here.
Bring me a case of Caribou Crossing and we can work something out. You can find the whole list at retail any day of the week minus the BT products.
As a Canadian, I can confirm this to be true.
Here in Oz that collection is just over $1000.00.
But the sharing with friends and family is well worth it.
Glad you mentioned Wild Turkey 101. I used to be a night watchman at a Power Plant and when it got freezing cold out at night, 101 was the juice that kept me warm. Blanket in a bottle. I can still purchase a liter for around $20 bucks . Good stuff and thanks for the video.
Spot on. Have every one of those in my cabinet, except the Uncle Remus. Might need to try that.
Almost perfect list. Nice!
I like OF1920, but for a newbie I'd recommend 1910.
I thought with your Bonus, you'd throw out something to get because you won't find EHT
1910 is too similar to woodford double oaked, with both being toasted. Putting both in the collection would be sort of redundant. 1920 is a different beast, and is much better IMO. Plus it gives a high proof option in the collection. To each their own though!
@@nfc3po OF 100 Signature, OF BIB, OF 1920 - this is the Flagship of the OF line.
@@nfc3po excellent point, because your pallet will definitely build up more tolerance towards the higher proofs in a matter of months, before you can finally find that sweet spot.🥃
Great video! As a beginner I am really enjoying your brand- keep 'em rolling!
I really enjoyed this video..the history lessons for each bottle was very cool...thank you sir..im glad i found your channel
Nice history lesson. Thanks!
Great list, time to go shopping is right! - 💪🏻
Started two months ago. Have all but Taylor, Woodford, and Eagle Rare. Having fun with it
I will now have to look even harder for G. Remus to complete these 11. It was next on my list anyway but nowhere nearby.
Loved the video. Will forward to others.
Blanton's was actually the first bottle of bourbon I ever owned. Was a gift from one of my professors back in 2005. I'd have to credit him and that bottle with really getting me into bourbon.
Started collecting less than 2 years ago and have acquired 40 bottles so far (about 2 a month on a limited budget). I was pleased to find that I have 7 of your 10 selections. Learning more as I continue the journey. Thanks for your content.
Jason, that is a solid list!
Great info and a equally great thought behind it.
Great video. I know it took time to research, learn and appreciate what you’ve shared…..thank you!
I really like these very practical and helpful videos. Thanks.
Love the concept and selections of this video. I am a big fan of many CZcams bourbon sites but you always nail it, Jason. You totally had me up until the Blanton's.
This is a great list!!!! Keep up the good work!
Very helpful video to assist in my new found hobby. Thank you for making this great and insightful content. It is exactly what I was looking for and will help me out a lot.
I couldn't have put together a better list! Most of these are favorites of mine.
Great recommendations !! Thank you
