Old adverts are so good for bringing back memories. It's like a little part of your brain lights up that had been dark for years.
Now the only thing that is dark is my area, even the postman is!

not for the little ones were rolf harris was concerned
When I watch these videos,i always think back to the 80s,we all had tea n baths then we'd sit as a family n watch the tele.I can still remember every little detail of that living room, can still see my mam n dad
Little bros all sat there laughing and happy.
I truly yearn for those days..
You forget all of these adverts , but you never forget them. It’s all locked in your head until you see them again.
mate..it dragged it all back..boom...im born 72..been loving going back before its all gone..good times

Let us bow our heads as we remember the products and services that are sadly no longer with us.....
I know, sad 😢
An hour of my life i did get back, thank you.
Miss these more innocent times
Anyone who takes the time to put this together deserves at least a thumbs up 👍👍
This made me give a thumb

Have another
I just smashed it!
These really do feel like simpler wholesome times.
I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s
Me to as well
So many ads from the 80s were like mini movies. They had a story, unlike the ads now.
and they really stuck in your mind
Ads are too Woke these days thats why they get skipped when shows are recorded
Ads in the 80s had massive budgets same with music videos
in 1980, we would moan that the adverts on all the time. but 30 years later we are watching them!! lol
40..
@@nikkijackson2981 🤣
now the majority of the adverts nowadays are like the programmes bollocks
I always like the adverts lol it was better than most of the shows. I always liked the beer adverts and the Clio adverts. Papa...
The adverts are complete trash these days so is pretty much of the rest of the programmes to
Most of these Adverts are better than the rubbish on today's TV!
Nitin Bhatt that’s why I don’t watch tv anymore 😂
Strangerthingscats 13 Ditto!
There was plenty of crap on tv in the 80s.
Omg I bloody agree with you
@@mirabellamcgarry8269 lets start a movement to get them all back on TV 😀
The 1980's - a damn good era for UK TV ads!
Love to watch these as it reminds me of being a young child, 5 years old to 15 in the 80s
Life was much better then, kids were not all complaining of being depressed and anxious cause we were out in the streets on our bikes! Now they sit in on their phones and have mental health issues! I'm grateful I grew up in those times, But sad for my children and future grand children! Oh to be able to go back in time to before the Internet when life was easier
Well said !!! I totally agree! The 80s were great!
I agree with you 💯
gosh, just watched the entire thing!- back then I hated ads, now they take me back to the times when life was much better
We used to hate these adverts now they are treasures
I remember eating a Crunchie when it came in a wrapper that was paper on the outside and foil on the inside. I distinctly remember that....what joy
Like Penguins.
The chocolate bars were so much bigger then
The chocolate had a different taste then as well.
@Tim Dyer Fast paced consumer takeover is now. Generation Z is the generation of demand and want, when they want it. I doubt planet earth has long in consideration of its creation since time began.
I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in America and our ads were virtually the same, the accents are the only difference, love it.
That was a brilliant hour of nostalgia! I remember about 95% of those adverts, It was like being 8 yrs old again. I could remember what I was doing and how I was feeling. Life was fantastic in the 80’s. If you wanted to be in an advert, you had to either be very well spoken, or a cockney lol. We had very little money, but we always had fun. Thank you, that’s made me feel great 👍🏼
Mike Robins mike, 38 year old here. Usual night after a few beers is watching 80s ads 😀😀
Same here,I completely forgot all these existed until I saw them and recognised them straight away. It’s funny how things like this bring back so many memories and emotions.Love being an 80s kid.I’m 43 next month 😂
The problem with technology is it does rather take over, in the 80s we had it just right.
in a nutshell steve
I totally agree ,its gone beyond common sense now ,and yeah 80s was great to live in especially as a kid .
In the 80s we could carry our music around with us and listen on high quality headphones, and we could communicate with people we didnt know with CB radio. We could also communicate with people on the other side of the planet using little red boxes that were on most street corners, And most of all we could still watch shite on the tv.
Apart from most people not having central heating. The only real decent invention since then.
I loved the 80s
Is it me or were these days just fantastic ,everything seemed so genuine .Now its FAKE FAKE and yes more FAKE.
It was all fake back then too, you were just too naive to see it for what it was...
Yes CORRUPT 👎
Good old days
@@mattelliottmusic Not as fake as today, far from it.
More or less the same big business advertising there wares but this bunch of adds are not well known ones this collection is the b sides I think unless I was to busy working I don't remember any even the smash one I remember had the space men nnever seen the one on here
The irony of me happily watching a full hour of adverts from my childhood when these days I record programs so I can fast forward through them. 😁😁
Because modern adverts are pure pish. Lol.
EVERYTHING in the 80s was better including the ads.
UK adverts have become social engineering.
Multicult
They always were, literally the sole purpose of ads is to convince you to part with your money. The only difference is you have more choice now
Interesting that in the 80’s Cadbury was making all the chocolates a good bit bigger. And yet in the last 10 years they’ve all gotten smaller and smaller!
@Eccremocarpus scaber: Counting down on costs and sugar no doubt.
Yet sadly I’ve got fatter and fatter….I suspect a conspiracy of sorts…no details but happy to put it out there
I always thought it was my imagination but definitely isn't its getting to obvious lol.
And still charging the same price as well I remember wagon wheels were massive now the are like a one penny
That lucozade ad! - you'd never get an Iron Maiden backing track to an advert these days....
Wow remember when Oil of Olay used 2 be Oil of Ulay, Anyone????
Yep and Jif wasn't called Cif, now it just sounds like a disease.
I was just talking to my sister about my great gran and how I always think of oil of Ulay when I think of her. And we wondered why it changed...so you think they made the ulay plant extinct? 😂 once olay is extinct maybe they will change it to oil of alay...
@@gra-emed3617 It was always Olay in other markets. Ulay does sound better though.
Anyone remember Quattro drink think Coca Cola used to make it, it was like lilt
Yep and CIF was JIF and Snickers was Marathon
To all those who think the 80s were rubbish, I am so glad I lived them. I feel so sorry for the young now.
I agree - and I was born in 86! Haha. Don't know why, but I find that people who were born as little as 5 years after me are so different
80s were the best wdym bad, damn music was euphoric af and the vibe was unreal. Gta vice City made introduced me to the 80s
The early '80s were like the late '60s... "for about 2 weeks."
Me to
We both look bath on the past with rose tinted glasses as well as not realise how good we have it, I would on one hand hate how basic tech was back then (im talking more bulky, expensive etc) but prefer other things like more local businesses, more easily available jobs, a general chill atmosphere overall etc.
Those who have disliked this video, what the hell did they expect? The description gives it away on what it as about. Thanks 2ombieboy for the effort you put in to compile all our nostalgic of our 1980s UK classic adverts. It certainly brings back great as well as sad memories. Cheers :)
I know why would anyone dislike... maybe some teenagers lol
Wow I a trip to my childhood it's scary how much and fast things have changed. Personally I think life was much better back then.
Absolutely. I was an 80s child and everything seemed better back then. I feel so nostalgic when I watch these ads. Wish I had a time machine:)
It definitely was better back then by far .
And i was never able to experience it, fml.
ok boomer
I wasn't born then but I saw Eastenders on Drama from the 80's and it was better
Personally I would've loved to be a kid in the 80's. The arcades, music and tv shows back then sounds so cool...technology hadn't taken over yet
Technology was outdoors, grounded and sparked a world of exploration, creativity and ideas. Now there are no more independent computer shops or independent anything really. You go look to buy in store or ask for help and everyone tells you to go online, a solitary experience that is hard to make a connection with anyone or even find the truth from all the lies and trolls.
@@cattysplat true. Damn, im only 26 i was born in 94 but still even during my childhood things were so much better.
I was a kid in 1950s 1960s. Have a look at these classic advertising promos era's. No Arcade games but Monopoly, Subbuteo, Tri-ang, Meccano, Comics. Wonderful Comics..
@@fatherkarras2483 Whipper-snapper.
It was very different, but it was shite. Its very easy to wish growing up in an earlier decade. Rose-tinted glasses etc. The music and films was and still are great.
I feel that 80's adverts tried harder, Thanks for this lovely flashback :)
I bet in 40yrs time they won't be reminiscing about today's adverts!
Thank you so much for posting this...as a child born in 1977 this is an absolute delight of nostalgia 💓💓💓
totally agree. brings back memories
We had great adverts in the 80's i remember all of them.
me too and I guess we only had three channels too lol. great times
Ahh, what would life have been like in the 80's without a sale at Allied Carpets 😂😂 They just all merged into one sale that lasted for about 20 years!!
That Michael J Fox Pepsi ad is a thing of beauty.
I wouldn't dare open a can he passes me these days.
@@OngoGablogian185 😅 I think he’s doing a lot better with that nowadays lol
All those movies I sat through to edit out the adverts whilst recording only to sit through this. Adverts used to have character back in the day.
VHS has the calming, childishly innocent aesthetic to me, that I suppose black and white film did to my parents...
People commenting that technology has ruined the present age, having just watched a well put together compilation of TV adverts from 40 years ago, on CZcams.
My partner and I very much enjoyed the nostalgia and non-subtle sexual references these ads contained. Thank you for posting :)
Less than 40 but yeah
Ah the good old days without social media when the vast majority of people were genuine and respectful.
I agree 💯 did you know that the Bible says that critical times hard to deal with will be here and that people will have no natural affection and be unthankful not open to any agreement to me it is like reading the news paper Eileen
@@jager896 Amen, indeed. I think the social media tycoons should take this word of biblical advice and shut up shop immediately. That way we don’t let the screen time strain our true vision, and we can be more open-minded and aware of the world around us without even having to be plugged in. Besides, there is such thing as RSI. Jesus is always there to make sure the odds are evened out for us, so even when the chips are down, our hopes of seeing eternal life are raised for our sakes.
No pathetic trolling either
Feel the power of the programming! Half of these live in my head somewhere. It's uncanny.
Aww such nostalgia! Plzzzz bring back the 80z!❤
Oh lord..I must have watched much more tv than I remember….
Fantastic. Normally I hate adverts interrupting what I'm watching youtube. This is fabulous. Thanks for putting it together.
love the 80s ads l grew up with them still love today good memory great days
Couldn't stop watching this, really drew me in.
Me.. "CZcams has too many bloody ads!"
Also me.."oh cool 1 hour of old ads!"
holy crap!! The rolf harris brush -for the little ones, how sinister that sounds now!!!
Brings back great memories of being a kid in the 80s but at the time when your dad taped something you are watching on the tv you would be always pressing forward to speed past these
I lived in England in the 80s. They only had 4 tv stations and only two showed commercials.
Wow!!! The new Peugeot 309, that's incredible
I don't care if people think I'm sad - I love watching these! The only adverts you get now are; hybrid cars, broadband, iphones/galaxy, TV services and just eat. Shite!
The adverts of today should be banned
And funeral costs and charities.
@@dopedup222 Aye!! Absolutely. How could I forget those!? You're so right. Your comment just reminded me of a life insurance advert (it was definitely on the radio - I'm not 100% sure about whether it was also on TV), and Ben E King's "Stand By Me" was the soundtrack used for it... It makes the insult of a bad advert 100 times worse when they use a brilliant song on it. I rather miss the late Saturday nights in the 90s when I was jolted awake on the couch by the blasting noise that was "CALL CHATBACK NOW......0891 50 50 50" Those were the days!!!! Haha
They are disgusting adverts today. These big name "charity" companies playing on peoples emotions with stories about how people are homeless and wanting "£7" a month. We all know where the money goes.
Yes it's crap now
Watching 5 years later but oh this brings back so many happy memories. Thank you so much for sharing and re-lighting a part of my life when I was truly happy ;)
'80s UK TV in general was about 100 x better than it is now, including the adverts.
I don't know how I got here but its greatly appreciated
It's a credit to the advertisers that i can still remember theses ads word for word.
"all home pride men look same to me". That shit wouldn't fly today! Lol
I think the Black Magic one would have racism read into it more. Anyway it's only white people who are racist, don't you know? 🙄
I'm solly?
It is quite shocking how antiquated and primitive these ads seem now. Even people in their forties, like me, grew up in an entirely different era...
I think //antiquated and primitive// is a bit harsh ...
@@osamaalmulki4548 True - it's just different. With identity politics, our adverts will be looking 'antiquated' in about 5 years.
I agree and I am nearly 45.
@@patrickpaganini yep, so much virtue signalling and requiring every demographic in every advert to tick off the diversity checklist.
I wouldn’t quite antiquated and primitive lol
I don’t see that as a society we have come on that much at all. In fact a lot of people now can’t even properly relate to each other as a result of too much technology in our lives, it has sucked the life force out of people.
I love all these old adverts.
Fiona Fullerton in the Nescafé advert. Still looks as good nowadays. I see her around Cheltenham occasionally
This was so cool to see things really was simpler back then 👍👍
This is brilliant takes me right back,I remember I wanted the coffee bean gold chain 🤣
😆 me too! The way the light hit it, I turned instantly magpie 😁 don’t think my 10p a week pocket money would quite stretch though😏😊
Not exactly sure how you put all these classic adverts together but thank you it's brilliant and brings back happy memories
oh my god the " fleurs du monde " ad is so romantic and nostalgic it almost made me cry 💕
I so wish I could go back. I so wish.
It was better; Tech, music, movies, fashion, culture - everything, though I didn't realise it at the time.
Oh yeah, the Rutger Hauer Guinness commercials - they were some of the best at the time...
they were thought to be state of the art (at the time).
The 80s....the golden era
There's something so dreamy about the colours and filters they use
I remember all of these ,,, but can't think of one modern one ,,adverts are pretty awful now
The adverts of today are rubbish
Definitely
I loved the ads of the 1980s - so much so I entered the Industry in 1989, and set up an Agency in 1992 (regrettably the recession of 2012, I closed it). ☹️
The industry changed so much over those years.
Wah, the British accents, you don't hear this no more

There's an interesting comfort to watching adverts from before I was born, from so longer ago that they are in no danger of successfully marketing anything to me. It's like interacting with a predator that's been de-clawed and de-fanged.
Cant beat a bit of nostalgia, how offended would some people be at some of these ads Haha 🤣🤣
Im probably biased but back in the day adverts were much better
My mother and I used to shop at Kingfisher Centre, 11:03. when I was a little boy in those days. Pleasant surprise to see that ad.
“These days everything has to be brown” LMAO BASED ❤️
Back in the good old days, when ads were entertaining, didn’t take themselves too seriously generally, and when you could do an impression of a Chinese person without offending everyone.
Box ticking bullshit nowadays...
So true. Its a hyper sensitive era we're in now!
Good to see the old adverts are been archive bring backs memories
Makes me nostalgic for the 1980s when you compare these adverts to today's advertising life insurance and funeral plans for the over fifties it shows just how far U.K. television standards have fallen,
The Homepride Chinese and had me laughing very loudly.
These are great and represent the Britain I remember. Watching these now only confirms the decline we're in.
Social media has destroyed people talking to each other
Every advert has to have black people with mixed race kids!

Back in the 80's we used to 20% extra, now we get almost 50% less, god damn greedy chocolate companies.
I noticed more and move over the past 20 years 10-15 especially companies doing tricks like shrinking size of a product then having an offer like "2 in pack for price of 1" so it tricks consumers into thinking they have a deal, when the 2 together would make the same if not a little less size than the previous single product, or its like the size of one and a half of the old product but the price has increased so you are paying more than what 1 and a half would of cost before. I also noticed every time I saw the words "new, improved recipe" I knew the product was worse (as they cheapened the ingredients), just like as a kid each time I saw a freebie on front of a comic be it a lollipop, stickers etc it was always a few weeks from a price increase. Sad that people think we get better value now for certain food products for example tins of sweets at Christmas, in the past we had metal tins, better quality chocolate and British made, now its plastic containers (and now they expect us to have no container at all) cheaper ingredients and foreign production, so even if adjusting for inflation we pay a little less we actually aren't getting as good a deal as the companies overheads have shrunk, also they don't take into account sales after Christmas.
I remember having choc ice and chips, just like the advertising👍♥😂
Mam thought, l was crazy!
Fabulous!👍😋
