The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict seems to have come to an end. Faced with Armenia's weakness and isolation, Azerbaijan has seized Nagorno-Karabakh in a lightning mission that has led to the mass exodus of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from the territory to Armenia, in what many already claim is another ethnic cleansing in the post-Soviet space.
However, tensions are far from leaving the South #Caucasus. Russia, Turkey and Iran have strong interests in the region. Moreover, the attacks suffered by Israel at the hands of Hamas may lead the Jewish state to try to harm Iran in the region.
What interests are at stake in the South Caucasus? How has Azerbaijan finally gained power over Nagorno-Karabakh? Will this be the definitive end of the conflict between #Armenia and #Azerbaijan?
Israel is Jewish yet its supporting the Muslim Azerbaijan. Iran is Muslim yet it’s supporting the Christian Armenia. What a paradox…🤔
Israel supports every country who treats their Jewish population good. And Azerbaijan is a Muslim Zionist country.
It's geopolitical, Iran fears that Azerbaijan will grow more influential due to the huge Azerbaijani population in her South Azerbaijan region while Israel wants a stronger Azerbaijan to ally with against Iran
@@nenenindonu Oh I get it now; they can't use religion as a weapon in this situation like they usually do. Iran is putting its geopolitical interests in the Black Sea over its religious responsibility to the Shia of Azerbaijan.

If the Azerbaijani goverment was so interested in making a peace treaty with Armenia why have they pulled out of EU-mediated peace talks? Why are they occupying a significant portion of the Armenian territory that they show no intentions of returning? Why are they demanding the return of their enclaves inside Armenian territory but not offering to do the same to the larger Armenian ones inside their territory? Or withholding several POW's from the 2020 war? I don't think you or ordinary Azerbaijanis want a new war, but your government needs a permanent conflict with the Armenians to justify their authoritarianism and the preservation of a ruling family that has taken millions of the Azerbaijani state ever since its independence. There will only ever be peace when you guys get rid of Alyev and replace it with a guy who does not think pardoning and rewarding criminals who kill Armenians in their sleep is an acceptable practice.
Errors and omissions:
1) The name of the place is ZanGezur, not ZanZegur
2) Omitted fact that Azerbaijanis represent 2nd largest ethnic group in Iran, dominating the population of the northern part of Iran and thus this can be used as a leverage against Iran by the global powers
3) Iran doesn't need a route through the Black Sea to connect with Russia. Firstly, they both share the cost of the Caspian Sea and do have a maritime trade. Secondly, they are building a railroad through Azerbaijan (North-South Corridor) and already do have a railroad connection through Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan
4) Interests of China (for which the East-West) corridor is significant and of India (for which North-South) and Persian Gulf-Black Sea is crucial is not mentioned at all.
3) Iran needs a Black Sea route to connect with Europe, not only Russia. That's the reality.

In the video, you are saying that Russia was supportive towards Armenia, which isn't true. The last events were not only the rise of Turkey's influence in the region and the withdrawal of Russia but Russia's attempt to draw any last pieces of benefits, which is Azerbaijan's support for the war in Ukraine, because Azerbaijan is helping Russia a lot with parallel import of pretty much everything required for war in Ukraine.

Great video. It's crazy to realize how tangled the web of alliances in that part of the world are. It makes a lot more sense why many of the great powers are reluctant to intervene, since they have allies on both sides of the conflict.

Read George Washington farewell address.
First president of Azerbaijan referred to Turkey and Azerbaijan as “one nation under 2 states”. Difference between Azerbaijan and Turkey are no larger than Flanders and Netherlands or Germany and Austria. A border was drawn based on faith in 16th century. Sunni Ottomans and Shii Safevids drew the border. It is no different than 17th century Dutch rebellion, Protestant Dutch speakers separated from Habsburgs, Catholic Dutch speakers stayed with Habsburgs.
Azerbaijan was created by russia
Azerbaijan, the word stolen from the Persians, is an artificial creation of Soviets and the remnants of the now-defunct genocidal Ottoman empire. It never existed in the history of the region and was invented by the two first as a home for the homeless Caucasian Muslim Tatars and then only in 1936 is renamed to Azerbaijan. The name carefully and cunningly was chosen jointly by Turkish and pseudo-Turkish Azerbaijani leaders of the time so as to claim in the future this artificial Azerbaijani state in the South Caucasus as "north Azerbaijan" and Iranian provinces in the Northwest bearing the same name, the original name, as "south Azerbaijan" as part of their separatist pan-Turkic movement to divide Iran.
Well explained 👍👍
Not true Osmanli turkish and azeri are different, though similar languages .And ethnicity and religion are also different.
If you don't provide numbers it washes away as some euphemism that's hard to grasp: When Amenia took territories that were formally Azerbaijani territories (both in the Armenian enclave AND the Azerbaijani surrounding regions) there were around 800.000 refugees in total (200.000 from Armenia proper), that's a number hard to grasp for such small countries. This provoked a huge crisis and a never forgotten trauma, and these people didn't leave just because of some little discomfort, there were atrocities committed as you can imagine. So, the Armenians leaving the enclave en masse had something to do with such historical memory: there was no mercy for the Azerbaijani and they didn't expect anything else from them in return.
Another thing to remember is that Iran has a HUGE Azerbaijani population in the north, so much so that they try to downplay and deny such numbers (but people in the country know this to be true) and even deny that they have that much in common with their neighbors, when they are basically the same people. Iran playing with Armenia is an strategic counterpoint to avoid making Azerbaijan too strong and prosperous lest than Iranian Azerbaijanis have some ideas of prosperity of their own.
Also and again, and when it comes to this channel (and it's a staple of European way of seeing things in the world): when they don't like a country they are fast to remember how undemocratic and how much of a regime it is (what may be true in all honesty) when they like it, they don't even mention it and focus on other considerations or those related to the matter at hand.

It's clear that Azerbaijan took advantage of the fact that Russia is preoccupied and their military is tied down in Ukraine. They gambled that the handful of Russian peacekeepers there wouldn't be able to stop them and they were right. That made Russia look weak. Countries right now are probably asking themselves what's the use of being in the CSTO if they don't send help when another member is under attack.
True, it was good calculated move! But also happened because Armenia once again kept stalling the already made agreement of leaving the invaded teritories, which made another attack a neccesity.
Even without hindsight you can see that CSTO minus Russia, Belarus and Armenia are all Turkic Muslim nations like Azerbaijan. No surprise they prefer Azerbaijan over Armenia.

One thing you missed is that Azerbaijan expelled the same amount of armenians from Azerbaijan and in nachchivan where azeris destroyed armenian churches and historical sites. Don't talk shit if you can't back it up
This video lost my focus once it mentioned that Armenia and Azerbaijan are two brothers. Azerbaijan's origins trace back to the Altaic region (Mongolia), where Turkic people, such as those in Turkey, originated. In other words, both Turkey and Azerbaijan are colonizers and nationalists who share the goal of annihilating Armenians, as evidenced by the Armenian Genocide. It's crucial to note that this video doesn't adequately summarize reliable sources. Armenia is a democratic country, and similar to Georgia, democracy is considered an enemy by the Kremlin/Russia. Additionally, Azerbaijan is a dictatorship with no press freedom. It is essential to highlight the existence of Armenian phobia in Turkey and Azerbaijan. The Kremlin does not support Armenia due to its democratic nature, contrasting with the Kremlin's stance against democracies.
I also hope that the two-sided European Union can effectively prevent another invasion from Azerbaijan, considering the democratic values upheld by Armenia, in contrast to the authoritarian nature of Azerbaijan and its monarchie. This geopolitical dynamic adds another layer of complexity to the region, with potential implications for stability and peace.
To be fair Armenians aren't angels either. They are indo-european migrants from near the anatolian region that moved up to the caucasus. Armenians also have committed ethnic cleansings as recently as 1990s where they helped "Abkhazians" kill off Georgians and kick them off their own lands.

If azeri people didn't exist 100 years ago, how come we have 10 million people in Azerbaijan and 30 million living in Iran, those people didn't spawn 100 years ago out of nowhere:)) and when it comes to claiming the fact armenian lived there for 2000 years, persians lived in the region 4000 years before armenians, 4000 years before..In fact, I would say that none of us have the right to say the Caucasus belong to us except persians..and your logic also points out that all Europe should leave their territories to Italians and Greek people, because they lived on the continent for 10000 years:))

Azrebaijan has already invaded armenia, Azerbaizan is now inside the internationally recognized border of Armenian and I'm not talking about the defunct nagorno karabakh..
It is not a bluff at all. Armenia will become part of Azerbaijan 🇦🇿
Due to the following reasons:
- Armenia (3 million and declining due to centuries of emigration to the West and low birthrates)
- Azerbaijan (10 million and rising).
Armenia still occupies 7-8 villages of Azerbaijan@@ashapuhin72
The great thing which i saw in that video is Azerbaijan finally is completed the duty which UN couldn't
I.m curious where were Visual Politik last 28 years when 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory was under occupation, about 800000 refugees, Khojaly genocide, 4000 missing and most of the terriroty now is a mine fields. Still finding mass graves in liberated territories even in the territory of Shusha prison.
You left a very crucial part out. Azerbaijan, Turkey and all the other central asian countries are the same race. Therefore, one of our interest is to rebuild this connection
Yes, and they were cut from each other by Russia, in order to control them easier. Central Asia was cut off by Caspian sea, Russians blocking Caspian transport connections to Azerbaijan citing 'ecological' reasons; and the second block was the constant conflict they kindled in Karabakh. But Russia is getting weaker and is losing influence, while Turkey wants all the influence it can get, among that- to transport hydrocarbons from Central Asia to EU, as well as unite Turkic people from outside influence (and into Turkish). I hope this works out, and Central Asia stays safe from new attempts of Russian imperialism.
Lol same race 😆 the people in central asia look more chinese and the azeris and anatolins arab, how could they be the same race?
@@KoroushRP hays and Armenians are different. How can be hayastan Armenia.armenian language is proven Indian group. How can be Armenian Caucas nation?
its a Utopia. Why would Uzbek leader ever want to be governed by another country? Organization of Turkic states is the last fancy version of the Arab League, apart from cultural ties, not that much is achieved
@@hovhannesmkhitaryan172 They don`t want to be dominated by Russia or China either, so seeking to develop ties with Turkey is great for power balance. Especially because Turkey is geographically disconnected, so a much safer `bigger brother` option.
In 1990 Artsakh won the war. 30 years they were winners. The current loser Armenian Government is a bunch of idiots, that's why all this happened.
You failed to mention the 700.000 Azeri refugees displaced by Armenian forces in the first war.
Could Europe be fairly towards Cyprus Turkic part? ( Muslims)
What?!! When Karabakh declared its independence? In 1918? Why are you lying? You gave wrong information about history of the conflict!
It's the Zangezur Corridor, not Zanzegur.
Zangzaor or Zanzegor
Doesn't Matter because it's not exist
It's Syunik, actually. And it's within sovereign Armenia. 🇦🇲
where is the other host?
Wow, you are lying! The mutual defence pact with Türkiye was signed AFTER the war of 2020! When it comes to F-16s, yes, they were present in Azerbaijan but none of them carried out a single flight during the war! Their role was purely geopolitical - to deter Russia and especially Iran from thinking to invade Azerbaijan.
so many inaccuracies... Why do you make this videos?
Video successfully evades to mention Armenian cease fire violations. Congratulations 🎉
Mentioned 7 neibourhood regions were populated by azerbaijanis that 7 times more than entire nagorno karabakh population, including all ethnic groups in karabakh. Armenians genicided all other ethnic all over the captures territories
Why is it a defeat for Russia when they have made it clear that when forced to choose they choose Azerbaijan? Also why does a video about the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict have a thumbnail declaring "Iran's next threat" as if Azerbaijan invading Armenia could be Iran's next power play?
You completely misrepresented the origins of Turkish aid to Azerbaijan. Both countries are Turkic, have a common history, similar cultures, speak the same language (80% mutual inteligable similar to Dutch-German) and share many values. Turkey would support Azerbaijan if they didn't had any oil and gas or if they were in a geopolitically unimportant place.
Turkey didnt help to Azerbaijan in improving economy.Azerbaijan did it by himself with his oil
One of russia inspired conflicts btw. AZ reclaimed its INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED territory and now both countries can sign peace deal and enjoy safer investment climate and integration to institutions of their choice.
Even though Azerbaijan having a huge upper edge compared to Armenina in weapon and gears Azerbaijan lost equally or little less to equal soldiers fighting Armeninan, Now Armeninan has nothing to lose so next war they take Azerbaijan with them down.
Do you know why Turkey is more active in the area? Because Azerbaijanis are also Turks.
Did you know that the complete Armenian land is part of the Historical Great Azerbaijan?
Also, did you know the main part of Azarbayjan, which is 3 times bigger than North Azarbayjan, with 40 million population, is inside Iran and called South Azarbayjan? Do you know that they will unify and make great Azarbayjan again?
I am going with a strong NO here as the leadership of Azerbaijan is too stable, too corrupt and too rich for them to rock their own gold encrusted boat !!
And that's exactly why they need to keep the conflict going. Corruption and poverty are plaguing the majority of the Azerbaijani region. Until now, the government has blamed Armenia for all its problems. If the conflict is resolved there would be no one to blame for the deteriorating conditions that regular Azeri citizens live in their day-to-day lives. Meanwhile, the nation's leader is busy with money laundering, exploiting the country's oil reserves for personal gain.
@@artak4890 I was in Azerbaijan but it was about 15 years ago so I won't pretend to know about social problems today. I would however say that even then it did seem that much of the growth and wealth was focused on the Baku area and outside oil workers rather than the wider populace and that could become a factor, but given it's pro-western stance and the fact that Ukraine is done win or lose the government won't be short of support against dissent !!
@@artak4890how little you know, and how confidently you speak. although, one usually goes with the other
Armenia should take Nakichevan, there should be no more enclaves. This is the best option. Azerbaijan should not be allowed to control an Enclave which is a security risk to Armenia and that is practically a Turkish militarily base, the region will stabilise once Armenia takes control of Nakichevan, the 30,000 people who currently live there can relocate to Nogorno Karabakh and that will end the hostilities once and for all.

Azerbaijan will take Zengezur.

If i was an Iranian, i wouldnt make such claims. Everyone in the region is either your enemy or see your political regime as a problem. Cou could the Azeris end up ethically cleansing the Armenians?!???
The name Azerbaijan appeared on the map in 1936 by Stalin. The formation of now Azerbaijan started in 1921 by Bolsheviks Russia and Ata Turk. It was first called Caucasus Tatarstan, The capital Baku was Russian speaking city, with majority of Russians, Armenians, Jews, and some Tatars (Azeris). The demographics completely changed during the soviet years. In 1989 when the autonomous republic of Nagorno-Karabakh under the new Gorbachov's law to have referendum to gain their independence. The newly formed Azeri army started "the Pogroms", attacked Armenian civilians in major city’s in Azerbaijan specially Baku, Gandzak -used to called Kirovabad. In Sumgait the Armenian civilians suffered the most . Some women were raped and burned alive, some thrown off the roofs of high-rise buildings. Over 500 thousand Armenian victims of the atrocities fled to Armenia and Russia. Most of them were Russian speaking, as they were forced to forget their language. It’s funny - when you meet an Armenian of any generation from Iran, Lebanon, France, or anywhere else, they speak Armenian, but most Azeri Armenians do not. People forget to realize Nagorno-Karabakh was given to be part of Azerbaijan as an Autonomous Republic by Stalin, under Soviet Union. And just like other republics, the Armenian population of NGK voted for their independence, the parliament in Nagorno-Karabakh made a formal declaration. The population at that time was more then 90% were Armenians, indigenous to the region for millennia, conquered over and over by different powers, but still attached to their mother land. In 2023 by Azerbaijani Pres Aliyev's decision - 120 000 civilians were pushed to starvation for over nine months, and forced to leave the ancestral lands, where some of their ancestral gravestones in cemeteries are millennial, now left behind, left for desecration and destruction, just like (over 10 000) "khachkars" - Armenian gravestones in Nakhijevan...as well as churches, entire cultural history... History is repeating itself. Geopolitical players have their agendas, while "people on the street" are being filled with hateful propaganda. I'm Armenian, love my country, and my Christian upbringing has given me the base - Love, Faith, Hope. Love for my heritage, Faith in humanity' even in Azerbaijan, and Hope for Peace.
😂😂😂
I don't think it will happen. I don't think People of Azerbaijan want it. But if government will do it, it will be stupidest decision from their side and they lose this war in long term and reputation for many many years. Hope, this will never happen.
And in reality they will WIN this WAR just like in 2020-2023 armenia is are beaten cards that exist only because TURKS don't won't to Finish their job 😊
2020 spending table is off. Should Azeri expenditure not be 2.24 B? instead of Millions?

You should make a video on how Georgia can retake occupied territories
Russia would have to collapse first and that makes Abkhazia and SO small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Unlike armenia they very well understand who froze their conflict.
If we had a comptetent government that wasn't bought by the kremlin then maybe there'd be chance.

Armenia, like the overwhelming majority of Orthodox and Catholic Christians dont believe in Zionism.
They believe the Jews rejected the Messiah, Jesus Christ and therefore has no right to a state of Israel.
A majority of Protestants and a minority of Orthodox and Catholic believe in Zionism. The reestablishment of Israel and the gradual conversion of the Jews to Christianity.
Based
as an iranian azerbaijani, I hope that one azerbaijan re-unites with iran because its a stolen territory, azerbaijan is our land and it has been stolen from us by russian empire in early 1800s.
It was part of the Persian empire. Rather, it was part of the territories of various Iranian dynasties. It being a part of your empire does not make it your land. If anything, it belong to the local Caucasian peoples of the region.
Look, I love Iran and next to Georgia, I consider it one of our historic brotherly nations. In fact, several of our royal and noble families were of full or partial Iranian dissent. However, I do feel that these claims of greater Iran are a little bit irredentist and imperialist in nature. The territory of what is now Armenia was also part of Iranian empires, does that mean Armenia should be absorbed into Iran as well?
Nope, Russia took a big chunk of Iran in 1813 (Gulistan treaty) and 1828 (Turkmenchay treaty), which exactly translates into modern Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia territories. All this happened because Russia wanted to trade around the shores of the Caspian sea (that also explains today's Ukrainian war). Moreover, all 3 of us enjoyed being apart from Iran and the westernization process for 100 years, when russian empire collapsed things started to get complicated as well because all 3 countries had not drawn borders for 100 years:)
@@sakogekchyan7366 Im not saing armenia should return to iran, but azerbaijan is whole differentely, because we iranian azerbaijanis are way more azerbaijanis in numbers then baku azerbaijanis and we wish to be re-united with our families in the north, they were separated from us by the russians.
