Ryde Garbage - SL30

- In this video we see Suez Spare (Ex Ryde Council) Side Loader #30, handling the red lidded garbage bins in the suburbs of Putney and Ryde on a Monday morning just under a week ago. Its been quite a while since I uploaded something from the Ryde Collections, so I decided to throw up some fresh footage of this 10 year old truck still doing its thing on a full time garbage run of 1400 bins with the two loads taken to Veolia's Transfer Station at Clyde. Both SL029 and SL030 based at the Eastern Creek Yard are the two dedicated spares for the current Ryde contract when a Side Loader or Units Rear Loader breaks down or is not available, RL006 is the spare/extra Cleanup truck used heavily throughout the summer months.
I was up nice and early at 4am on this particular Monday for the first couple of bins on Victoria Rd Ryde and managed to stay with this truck all day for an 11am finish in Ryde. You will notice in the video that I managed to include a couple of early dark morning shots as well as some daytime footage to mix it up a bit. This driver like most drivers in Ryde only uses the Beacon on the main roads and during the day, but when it comes to the local residential streets in the early morning before the sun rises, the beacon is off out of respect to the residents sleeping.
One of the old Ryde trucks/spares used to get used every fortnight on the recycle week for the commercial waste run but the council wants the bins picked up by a new truck now so the BOTEK system can record the bins. So every fortnight the garbos have a roster on whos new garbage truck gets used on the commercial/trade waste run and they have to drive the spare on there full time garbage run for a week (8 week rotation between the 4 trucks/drivers).
At the 1:35 mark I managed to get one of those new 80L garbage bins being picked up on video, this driver likes to half grab them as they dont fly around in the grabs and a lot easier to put down. Expect to see more of the Ryde Collections on my CZcams channel very soon as I have a heap saved of the new and old green Side Loaders as well as some video of the Dennis/UrBin Rear Loaders. Great to see footage of one of these. These MJ models are some of my favoruites. Its cool to see Ryde having 80L bins now, noticing more and more councils doing this. The old trucks down here used to shake em real hard. Now the trucks can grip 80L bins properly D:
Yeh gotta love the old school banging Macdonald Johnston MKIV's with an Acco...nothing better ! In a way im still glad to see them used around Ryde as brings back memories of the old contract, the new equipment gets a bit boring after a while. Yeh more councils are introducing the smaller bins as an option....one day it will probably be standard to see 80L's everywhere as the garbage bins and 360L's as recycle bins.

You thought right haha, yeh those bloody 80Ls are everywhere there way easier to pick up when you half grab them if you dont they fly around. Yeh exactly why I got out of bed for at 4am was this truck, sounds mad hitting those residential streets with the noise coming from the exhaust just bouncing of all the houses...stuff all the residents who want to sleep haha :P

is SL30 and SL029 the only mkivs that service bins in ryde council
Yes at the moment SL30 and SL29 are the only MKIV's in use in the Ryde contract as spares. Also SL61 is a spare for Ryde now.
