Completely and utterly agree that Stephen was in the wrong, though he had a point later on that it was bizarre that the family cast him out for cheating but was perfectly fine with Danny cheating. Both were in situations where their marriages were strained, but one was given full support in cheating and the other was (rightfully I might add) called out for it.
Keep in mind, the family was torn apart when Muriel's son (Stephen's dad) left his wife and kids to be with another woman and it's made clear they never forgave him, so I'm guessing that adds some baggage.
tbf, iirc Daniel was only emotionally involved with Viktor at first- they then had sex during the Hong Sha Dao crisis and he left his husband for Viktor. Quite different to Stephen who was having sex with Elaine for years without telling his wife and children.

Everyone in this thread is making exuses for Daniel saying how it was only him and Ralph whereas Stephen has a family, Daniel only did it once during an end of the world situation whereas Stephen did it continously etc. It doesn't matter what the variance is, he still cheated on his husband, and then promptly divorced Ralph for Viktor becuase he was younger and he'd gotten bored of his husband, and the rest of the family was completely hypocritical in how they reacted to it versus how they reacted to Stephen.
When it comes to affairs in the Lyons family double-standards aren't noticed. Stephen has an affair and it's hellfire, Danny does it and no one's bothered. Even Stephen points this out
the weirdest part of that whole scene was the girl asking what colour Elaine was and when he said white she just walks away, as if it really mattered lol, so if it had been a black girl he'd slept with then it would have been okay or at least not as bad but because he sleeps with someone of his own race suddenly it's a problem? Surely it should be irrelevant and it should be the fact that he cheated in the first place, not who the person was?
You're a fool. She is beauty, if anything she is way out of is league and he just ruined that relationship. There was no reason for him to look else where. She was damn near perfect and he couldn't accept the fact that she was handling their financial situation better than he was.
