- Hey all! Just a vid of me describing my experiences with the 2023 Honda XR150l! New to the CZcams game, so please like, comment, subscribe, and let me know what you’d like to see in the future regarding moto content!!
I love mine. It’s an amazing dual sport. Just fun as hell.
Try changing your sparkplug to iridium… then tune-up your mixture of air and fuel… no need to change the jets of the carburetor… from 🇵🇭… me here been using also a diesel oil delo gold ultra 15w/40, been using it for 4 years now… never failed me eversince…👍👍👍
Glad to see folks checking this little bike out...... as you mentioned, she's been tested true in Asian, European, & S.American
nations for quite a few years. I do believe that Honda decided to drop this in the US due to the explosion of Chinese and of
the electric ebikes. Think about the cut-throat marketing between them all & for $3000 you can get a reliable bike or ya can
spend $2000 at Amazon & watch the nuts/boltz vibrate out? Yeah, I'm LQQKin' at this bike seriously. Thanks for the work !
peace & be safe out there
Is it safe to say you did the "carb" mods(jetting)? Nice skid-plate as well, what I've learned is that Honda did stuff like
smaller jet sizes, muffler sizing, & other little things to get this bike past emission laws(Kalifornia). I'm still finding the
changes to uncork her....lol, not too much too Un-Cork but if ya can get the MPH up to 65-73mph that would be like
the best/safest moves to be made, in my humble opinion. Hearing this endorsement coming from a man who's had
a liter bike is a strong recommendation, a valuable consideration for any perspective buyers of a dual sport. I've not
ridden any bike since the early 90's but at my age/physical limitations, this one can be handled w/ relative ease and
I just know I'll have to pick her up or load it in truck/trailer sometimes. Thanks for the review. peace
Dude great review, thoughtful and professional, thank you!
Agreed. Mine has 1200 miles on it. No performance mods. I cannot get over 58 mph on a flat (full tuck). Mileage is 77 mpg with my 185 lb weight.
Good job. I just bought a new one and you reviewed quite accurately. Looking forward to more.
Thanks I really appreciate that!!
I’ll be doing a 1k mile update soon. About 60ish miles left before I hit 1k. To anybody else reading this response I apologize videos have slowed down. They will pick up per the normal here very soon
Excellent video. I picked up an old (2017) one of these two days ago with a seized engine. Freeing up the engine and pulling it apart was so easy. It just felt like a really nice little bike without being too small. I have a new jug, piston, high lift cam and gasket set on the way. Today I picked up a second one (same age) in better condition that I'll get set up for the road. My first time twisting the throttle in 40 years. Smiles/$ they are unbeatable.
I’ve definitely had a blast with mine! Glad you’re liking yours!
Been riding 55 or so years on so many different bikes sometimes it's hard to remember them all. Kz 900 in the seventies along with Harleys, enduros, scooters as well. I just bought a black zr 150 this week and love it. I like the low-end bikes. Good video
Good review and please make another video with the mods !!
Good video. Now I will go check out your mods video. I purchased this bike last August and am very happy with it.
Thanks! I will be making an update video soon, some things have transpired since my last upload lol. New vid coming soon though!
Great video
Awesome video and info. Thanks for sharing
I appreciate you! Let me know if there’s any other kinds of content you’d like to see from my channel
Good average Joe perspective, glad you like it, I’m getting one in November to ride in Guyana SA so I wanted to hear your thoughts. Cheers.
I’ve got nearly double the miles on it now vs when I posted that. I’ll be doing a 1000 mile follow up review in the coming weeks! You’re definitely going to love it. Even coming from big bikes this thing is just so capable and very fun to bang through the gears on for riders of all experience levels
I got one yesterday and I agree fully so far! Riding it is an adventure for sure…I do wish it had a bit more top speed but it’s good enough and for backroad or in town riding you can’t beat it
Absolutely, and congrats on the new bike!! If you do those basic three mods it’ll be a lot snappier in power. I got 4mph extra in top speed too! YMMV.
How are you liking the bike, Nicholas? Any issues with oil consumption?
@@redemptiverevelation no issues at this point. I’m only 350 miles in
@@ShenanigrinzI agree with you completely on this bikes fun factor! It’s been a journey for me on different bikes along the way I have had an FJR1300 and a Victory CrossRoads and as nice as all that power was, this little thing is more fun for my type of riding. Commuting to work and adventures on the back roads of WV! I’m 220 and I can hit 55 on flat ground (45 on going up a mountain) and adventuring on routes that are limited to 50 mph is part of the fun! And it is light weight enough to easily load into my truck and drive it to places I want to ride if the place is too far away to ride the bike. Absolutely worth the 3800 I paid out the door
Pretty good for a 1st video, better than mine anyway. Would like to see one regarding the modifications.
Thank you! Means a ton man! I actually have a mods video on my channel if you wanna go check it out!
Nice video. Any issues with oil consumption?
Great video! Yes, we would like to know the mods. I'm guessing replacing the main jet with a 115? Thanks!
I will more than likely be making that one today! Thanks for the support 🤙🏻
I'm not crazy about the hump in the seat. I pulled the cover and blended the seat cushion back.
Also added a 110 main jet and engine guard.
I can see what you’re saying, I’m not really bothered by it but to each their own. I will say this… when carrying gear on your bike via backpack, and I mean like an actual rucksack. That raise in the back is a life saver for the bottom of your bag to rest on 🤙🏻 doesn’t put near the strain on your shoulders
Yes mods video please ! I just bought same exact bike I have 172 miles on mine now . I started on a 2002 cbr 600 lol so yes major power drop but this bike is just fun .
Any issues with oil consumption?
@@redemptiverevelation not that I have noticed yet. I drained the factory oil at maybe 100miles it was very thin . I put Honda 10w30 oil back in it . I have 210 miles now not noticed any usage . I’ll recheck after I add some more miles
Kind of odd... The CRF110 has fuel injection going back to 2019 but the XR150 doesn't? It needs a slip on exhaust and a lectron carb and open up the airbox a bit with some top holes. Also it would look a lot better with a different set of fenders on it. What kind of adjustments are available on the stock rear suspension? How does it hold a wheelie? Will the stock tires last more than 1k miles? have you got the break in oil out of it yet? I am thinking about getting one of these for my 13 y/o he has outgrown the crf110 and will be able to get a permit before too long.
Going carb injected was one of a few ways Honda was able to keep costs low on this bike. This bike is extremely popular overseas and has been for many years. Was introduced to the American market in 2023. The only slip on available atm that I know of is the yoshi but from the reviews I’ve seen it’s very little improvement on power. And sounds about what it does with the spark arrestor removal. And for $500… I’m waiting for something more affordable. Stock suspension is non adjustable to my knowledge. I do know that a lot of crf150 parts fit this bike though as it uses the same engine and I’m pretty sure the same frame. I could be wrong on the frame though. Stock tires have lasted me 900 miles and some change. Still going strong but they aren’t the greatest in mud. Getting knobbys next. Break in oil change was done at 600 miles. No metallic flakes or anything to worry about there.
@@Shenanigrinz Thanks for the Reply. I had a Kawasaki KE 100 when I was a kid, and it seems very similar to me. That KE 100 was a 2 stroke that was oil injected so you didn't have to mix gas but had to make sure you kept 2 stroke oil in it, and it had lights and signals. A lot of good memories on that bike, my kid isn't much into motocross riding, so it may be a good option, the only thing that turns me off is the 12 HP but for him that might be fine.
@@nikhayes3396 they definitely leave a bit to be desired in the speed department when stock. But even just taking the spark arrestor out, rejet to a #115 main, and snorkel removal from the airbox REALLY gives you a lot more low end and mid range snap in the throttle.
I got one.
CHANGE THE OEM TIRES IMMEDIATELY. I rode the stock for 4100 miles
PUT A 4.60-17 REAR. ( I put a 2.75 -19 for speedometer accuracy)
You'll thank me later
