Got stopped in Ohio in 1970 at a random inspection station. I was driving my all factory 68 Road Runner. The inspecting officer started to write me up for a defective horn. I told him that "meep meep" horn was what the car came with. Had to pop the hood to show him. I guess he hadn't seen this commercial. Finally did convince him and he let me go citation free.
Imagine the choice, being able to walk into a Chrysler dealership in 1969 and pick a Barracuda or Roadrunner or Chrysler 300. The only thing that would stand in our way in those days was money - we didn't have any or at least not enough to buy a new car.
I went with my dad Halloween night 1968 to get a new blue roadrunner that he wanted. My mom and the salesman talked him into a four door automatic satellite 318 instead of the 383 runner, because we had my little sister and they thought the 4 door was more family friendly. I’ve always hated my sister for being born. Lol...I’ve been pissed at my mother (god rest her) for 52 years over that one. I think the price on the runner was $2900 something like $72 a month for 2 years with $100 down. The good old days
Bought a 68 Road Runner with 11,000 miles for $1,600. 383 4speed was quite an upgrade for a 17 yearold who's previouscar was a 63 VW bug. Great times and great memories!
Everything on my 1969 roadrunner is original including the tires, nothing has been changed. It’s only got 34k miles on it as well. My dad got it brand new for $2500 in Chicago, IL 1969. Phenomenal condition only 500 made in its color, never been restored. A gem fr💎
Yeah, I got out of the Navy that year and bought a brand new deep green VW bug so I'd have enough money left over to buy a Norton Commando, kinda wish I'd grabbed a Barracuda Formula S.... Used to enjoy beating the Road Runners and Super B's at the local drags with the Norton, back when there were local drag strips every where and running your street car was just good fun.
I had a 72 Plymouth scamp with a stock 318 what a great car but seeing that show room floor with those brand new road runners barracuda in it making me drool all over this place

Animation by Warner Bros Seven Arts Cartoons, one of the last projects they did before they were shut down in 1969
It’s too bad we don’t see stuff like this anymore.
Look at that interior. My god. No wonder it was so exciting to get a new car back then.
