    For what it’s worth, I have several stream light pro tac HL models in different setups and never had a problem with them. Tape switches work flawlessly with many mounts and the lights themselves are durable and compatible with all scout style mounting options. I have owned two inforce WMLs and both have completely broken. First one was mounted to a rifle that got knocked over onto its side while at the range. Just the simple fall from resting on the butt pad to falling on its side on gravel shattered the lens and completely broke the plastic housing of the light. Second one I had mounted on the rifle I use to train new or recoil sensitive shooters (an M&P15-22) just up and quit working one day. Tried new batteries, cleaning the terminals, whole 9 yards and the light is flat out non functional after maybe 4-5 range trips. Wish I could afford surefire stuff but can’t justify that amount of coin for a light right now. Just my two cents.

    Love my stream lights. Had a full size HL that was run over by an RV, dropped in various fluids, coolant, oil, etc. still worked wonder. RV egg shaped the head a tad but sent it in to streamlight for warranty and they sent an entirely new light except for the battery end cap. I was amazed by their warranty department.

    I'm definitely a mob light or a surefire guy, streamlight offers so much value and it is just so easy and it is compatible with the scout mount standard so you can connect it just about any which way to whatever you want. I feel like everybody needs to grab a few streamlights just to be able to put lights and extra guns even if it's not on your primary firearm.

      Streamlight ProTac’s are hard to beat now. Cloud Defensive makes a great pressure pad mount for them and also they make an end to make them compatible to Surefire tail caps and switches. I like the factory switch with the Cloud mount but that conversion makes it nice if you wanna use Modbutton or Taps switch or something with a crane plug. I also have Surefire’s but I’ll always like the ProTac and I think they are the best price/quality ratio light on the market

  • @marzcapone9939

    Good info, thanks. I also like Surefire, and have upgraded to Modlite. I have two ModButtons being delivered today. It's a momentary on switch, that is also the mount for Scout lights. Mounts to the pic rail, and also has an option to extend the light more forward.
    If you get a Surefire remote switch, and an Arisaka mount, you'll spend more than the ModButton. ModButton is $125

    I've been using the Protac for about 3 years now in a hard use duty capacity. Of the 40 guys we have running them, we have burned out one light with the concussion of a muzzle brake and had 2-3 tape switches go bad. Streamlight has great customer service though and they were all fixed for free very quickly. All the scout mounts work for them. Highly recommend them.

      @TheChefty Před 4 lety +1

      Hi , they are getting tougher to license new firearms and to relicense guns .you have to go for a background check which takes up to 5 months , when you apply for your license , which can take up to 7 months to get processed .In SA you are allowed 1 handgun under a self defense license , you are allowed 1 handgun & a shot gun & bolt action rifle for sport shooting . You have to get dedicated status ( have to belong to a shooting club and go tru a certain number or rounds a month to keep your status ) to own a ar15 or ak . Every year the gun laws change , like now the government is limiting the amount of guns that u can license , and you basically can't have to ar15 chambered in the same caliber .self defense license we have to reapply every 5 years , sports and dedicated status is every 10 years . There is no open carry in public ( only allowed to open carry if your are in the police or army ) . Fully auto guns of any make are banned

The body of the object has to accommodate that. So, CR123, probably 1/2 or 7/16 inch at the slimmest.

    When I picked up a new rifle and needed a light, I just took a Streamlight TLR 1 HL (800 lumens) off a pistol and slapped it onto my rifle. Done, works great. Mounted on the side pic rail up front, switch is very intuitive for me (don't like the clicky switches or need a pressure switch). Could it accidentally be activated? Yeah, I suppose so.

    I just used a regular small hand held flashlight, modified some rings and track and cast it together. Cost me about 40$ and has never fallen off. Even in the heaviest and dirtiest conditions. Don't get me wrong it's a bit bulky, but does the job on the bug out rifle. it's about the same as the 3rd weapons light. About the same size and width

    Never personally had issues with the enforce light. That's what I was issued on my ar. We would qualify on them at 100 yards. They had plenty of reach for that. I think 3 exploded during range though. That may not be an issue with the light, more an issue with being mounted too far out (muzzle blast got them) but they still blew apart.
