It feels good to see someone finally understand this song and music video because some of the reactors didn't know who Method Man was or kept calling my guy Red Man lol and other's just didn't understand the dope culture moments behind this.
CL IS actually friends with Method mn.. she posted on instagram about one month ago screenshot of there face time🍃🍃🍃 we love and support queen
!!BACKGROUND INFO!!
CL was actually set to make her American debut. LIFTES was supposed to be the "debut" song but apparently that isn't the case and was more like a pre-release track(?). She did perform this on the Late Late show with James Corden and it did do well on the Billboard charts.
However, her US debut has been delayed sooooooo long that we're not really sure when she will officially release her album. The following year after this song was released, her group 2NE1 officially disbaned and she's also had some issues in her personal life which has affected this journey of debuting in the US. Also YGs management has been severely lacking with many of his artists.
I HOPE we get to hear her new music this year. She has so much potential to do amazingly well in the US and is already living in LA and is under Scooter Braun's management. So I hope we get to hear this album soon!

Yeah this song was CL's US debut and I think it was a song that really connected to both cultures. YG has lot of connections with American artists that's why they tend to have a heavy hip hop influence

This song was recorded a few years ago when she and her producer were goofing off in the studio, listening to Wu Tang Clan and Method Man. The producer told her to go into the booth and freestyle some of the lyrics.
Since you like CL, I think y'all like Jessi too. Listen to 'Gucci' or 'Ssenunni'. She also has great vocals which you can hear in 'Excessive Love'.
She was also in a group before called Lucky J (they unfortunately disbanded). You could listen to their songs 'Can you hear me' and 'No love'. Her vocals are insanely good, better than a lot of girl group members imo.
