The U.S. Congress is based loosely on the English parliament with the Senate being like the House of Lords, supposedly the more conservative body. The U.S. House of representatives is the people's house based on the house of commons. All laws must be passed by both houses and the Senate has the exclusive power to approve presidential nominations.
Committees like this are supposedly to inform lawmaking and approval decisions but often turn into political grandstanding.

That's probably not a very constructive thing for elementary students. As far as CRT; I do know what it is. "Dr." Ibrim X. Kendy (or rather, Henry Rogers - nobody can seem to find his doctorate) basically plagiarized Karl Marx's "Critical Theory" slapped some more racist rhetoric on it & published it as a book. (Ironically though Marx was a racist himself) Henry Rogers s a race pimp & a grifter. But, true to form so many "progressive" white women heard about him & bought right in.
