I bought the ToughBuilt 700's and they are incredible. The ends will hold either a 2x4 or a 4x4. The only downside is pulling out the legs and tucking them back in. But, totally worth it.

Same here. I could have gotten two Dewalt or Kobalt for what I paid for one Toughbuilt. I’m 5’4” and the adjustable legs are invaluable! Real ergonomical line!

I have had the Toughbuilt C700 sawhorse for about 6 months now and love it. I placed a sacrificial 2x4 on top of it as others have done and have not sawed into it by accident...yet. It sure was an upgrade from my home made, 11 year old, wobbly saw horses. The adjustable and folding legs are great. I have no problem with them having to be guided into the open position. I feel I need a second one to complete my MOBILE WORKSTATION. For now, still using the tailgate for one end.

I bought the Triton SJA300XL which is almost identical to your Ryobi Jawhorse with a different paint job. Man, I've done some pretty cool work with that, it's very versatile, use it to hang doors, build a fence post, painting, repair, clamping
Once you have a Jawhorse or 2 you'll never go back to the standard sawhorse, a college style work vise where ever you want, indoor, outdoor, building site or a customers home, garden, driveway, garage . Super useful exactly where you want it to be, it's a 10/10 tool. Will change your life as far as DIY goes

A co- worker of mine picked up the DeWalt ones a couple of years ago and they are great. Easy to set up. Easy to fold up. Really solid and very lightweight. The clip together feature is a nice bonus for van storage. The Toughbuilt ones are great with lots of great features, but they are really heavy, and when you’re already transporting a load of other tools, it starts to add up quickly. I wish they could make something using an aluminum or something else to make them lighter. (Or maybe I could just work out more.) But at 50+, it’s not just wear and tear on the van…it’s me also.

I agree the Jawhorse is incredible and has so many uses. Its main detraction is the cost, but mine is going strong 5 years later.
Another great, albeit expensive option is the kreg track horse. I personally love the adjustability as someone who is 6’5” tall it’s nice to have the option to extend the legs fully and gain extra height.

I have all 3 and my guys and myself LOVE the first set just because as you said they are tough and best of all they are LIGHT!!!!!
JAW horse weighs a ton, nice when working with door slabs
then I have a Set of Tough built and A set of BORA that look like the tough built.....Both are a bit on the heavy side . WE use those to pile on framing lumber......a lot easier then bending over all day!.......I want the Bora Centipede. Any thoughts on that??? Again thanks for the entertaining vid !!!!!

  • @tycox8704

I had to modify my Toughbuilt horses to make them useable. Before I attached 2x4’s to them, I couldn’t rip sheet materials, nor use clamps with them. They also aren’t “tough built”. The button latches jam, and the yellow powder coating came off in sheets, revealing rust underneath.
Meanwhile, the Rockler jawhorse is one of the best tool purchases I made.

I have a Rockwell Jawhorse which I purchased about 5 years ago and only paid $139.00 for on Amazon including shipping. I use it in conjunction with some Stanley ABS plastic saw horses I've had for over 10 years and together they work great. I had a early version of the Toughbuilt saw horses which ended up bending one of the steel legs under load which made them hard to close. The other thing I didn't like about the Toughbuilt is they are heavy to tote around and set up. I'll stick with my set up with the Jawhorse.

It has gotten to the point where, when I need to buy something, I look to see if you made a video about it. It's not that I am always going to agree with your reccos, but that I know you are going to show me a full demonstration on the features that are actually relevant.
Today, for example. I am still working with old school, homemade sawhorses (the kind everyone used to make out of 2X4s). They are great, and I have hooks for them in the garage ceiling beams to stow them out of the way and all of that. I have never seen a need to upgrade them. But my Father is in his 80s now, so my trips to go do work on his house (5 hours away) have become a regular thing. I just...need a more portable set of sawhorses. So I thought "self, you handsome devil, didn't you see some video Clint made about sawhorses, back in the 70s or sometime?"
So here I am. Now I don't have to read about 87 different brands, try to figure out which are sturdy to go along with all of the shit they say in their ads, and all of that. Portability being my real need, the way those DeWeys lock together is the selling point. The jawhorse is out of the question because of it's lack of work space and moreso it's price. The toughbuilts look great...but I am an old school guy who still uses wooden sawhorses. Damned if I want to go through all of those height adjustments and all of that shit every time I need to use a sawhorse. So...the DeWeys it is!
And because of this video, it took me 6 minutes to decide what I need.
Thanks brother. Definitely using your ACME tool link to buy! Purchase coming as soon as the Navy sends me my next check.

You can get the dewalt 1s in a 2 pack from home depot but only online for 79.99 but other wise yea 60 for 1 if you walk in the store. Ive replaced a total of bout 4 over the past few years as i also always have 4 on the truck at a time and im pretty disappointed. The plastic underneath where the legs store keeps busting up and then they keep getting all wobbly. Contractor use tho. But i love that they stack together super convenient. I jus feel like i need to move on to some thing sturdier but i jus love the portabilty and storage so much. Idk wat to do lol. O the other drawback is the dewalt sits really tall and doesnt adjust which is perfect height for cutting material but bad height when i stack commercial overhead door sections which i do both often. Stack gets so high with sections especially with 3" thick but even standard 2" gets pretty high for me only being 5'9 and my partner being 5 '7

I have so many different types of horses from the cheap plastic one's I also have the work table but nothing seems to beat the aluminum sawhorse with the folding legs with the 2×4 you have to put across the top. It also depends what job I'm on because if I'm working inside I'm going to use the plastic so I don't scratch the floors the music going to have the other ones outside. I have a Rockwell jawhorse different larger older model, but I was curious does your jawhorse allow you slide the clamp off and rotate 180 degree to allow for a larger clamping width? Mine will allow for clamping plywood sheeting when rotated. Love my jawhorse, love my toughbuilts and DeWalt's as well. And I'm embarrassed to say this but I'm an idiot because I was clueless I could clamp my DeWalt's together prior to watching this. I had a pair of the top line Menards brand of the Toughbuilt sawhorses. They were very study and nice to use but they didn’t hold up past 3 years of usage. Everything that moved started getting rusted or bent creating problems. I scrapped them and purchased a pair of Ridgid sawhorses from The Home Depot. So far these sawhorses have been great and I like them much better. The lower folding shelf has been very handy.
