      My mother was nearly killed by a "surgeon" that had a bunch of forged certificates from India, that were required certificates needed to hold the position in 2003. She ended up having to spend several months in a medically induced coma due to her complications. At the time of her "win" in 2006, it was the largest malpractice award in the history of our state. Literally front page news in our city... for a grand total of 1.5 million. After the lawyers took their cut, she got something around 700-800K. The doctor was banned from practicing in our state for life and had his license revoked... She eventually died from those complications in 2012. Last time I looked into it, he was practicing at Cedars-Sinai in L.A. To say I'm averse to going to the doctor for anything, is an understatement.

My mom DIED due to willfully and criminally negligent malpractice, and my family got pennies by comparison. Oh, and the "Dr." is still practicing today in L.A., after losing his license in my state. OP's comment was spot on. She get's eight figures for a firing, while people die due to criminal negligence, and often go without anything.

Race isn't the factor. The problem is that people get 20+ million settlements for being fired, and clear medical(and CRIMINAL) malpractice, that leads to death.... is ignored.

    I used to work for a Starbucks in Chicago when I was in my 20s. We allowed anyone to use the bathroom they just had to ask for the key. One night I was closing and realized one of the bathroom keys were missing. Went to check the bathroom and someone had overdosed. So I totally understand that stores policy of having to buy something to use the bathroom. I have many other Starbucks bathroom stories from that time as well.

    If you listen closely, it was a black district manager and black manager who called the police. But the CEO didn't want to fire black people, because well, you saw what happened when you tried to kick out LOITERS who refused to leave that were black.
    It's lovely that people can be jagoffs and get paid off, just because of their skin color.
    Anyone, regardless of race, knows Starbucks is tough on loitering. I was harassed 10 minutes after buying a $5 coffee to buy something else. What do you think would happen if I refused to leave? I'd get arrested without publicity, because I'm white.

    While I'm sure the ex-manager will probably be set for life with that millions that she won in the lawsuit, that's just a mere drop in the bucket for Starbucks, who racked in just over $30 billion just last year. The fact that they had to go to court about this shows that they don't care about her race, all they care about is profits. However, this video only touched on 1 topic in which people have protested on Starbucks in the past. Even their own employees aren't happy with Starbucks for other reasons.

    • @solandri69
      @solandri69 Před rokem +7

      That's sales. Starbucks' net income (profit) last year was $3.28 billion. So $25.6 million is just under 0.8% of their annual profit. That's a pretty hefty chunk for a single line item. Like someone making $50k/yr losing $400. Add in their court costs and settlement with the two black gentlemen, and it's probably over 1% of their annual profit.
