    Hey man, this was great! Thanks for the shoutout! I like warlocks, certainly one of the higher ups on my list of classes I would play, specifically Hexblade ones from DND, dark magic and a sword in hand. Also think its cool to see the crossovers in classes even with different theoretical approaches/explanations.

    It's amazing how you put any personality in a trascendent path, giving all of them the respect, deepness and admiration they deserve, through epicness, an element that may appear vacuous, but that stands for quite the opposite.

    I'm a fantasy writer, and since I've discovered the amazing world of cognitive functions I've been trying to fit my characters in some of the personalities.
    It's almost scary how well most of them fit your class choices for each personality. '^^ When they don't fit the class, they end up playing a similar role in the story, carrying that class's iconic code, motivation and values, even when performing a completely different job.

    This is great! Not only does it explain personality types well but it explains fantasy classes better than videos I've seen that are specific to rpg games. I'm going to show this to players who are trying to choose a class for their character, perhaps that will be easiest for them to identify with based on the player's own personality.

    I always thought INFP is a Druid, but after intense research, I realized INFP are more of rogue type. I find it weird how they meditate and u were thinking about deep connection to self and being a dreamer. To me I think they’re more of deep connection to the world. Trying to find the meaning of life and what purpose. After looking at some most famous INFP from tv shows, movies, books and video games. I noticed that they r being stealthy and trying to avoid conflict, but at the same time helping others when necessary or when the timing is right. I’d give u some examples but don’t want to make this long.

      Knocked it out of the park my friend. I'm bard too. Makes total sense. Plus ENFPs are usually adaptable and are able to speak anybodies language. To influence/inspire them. And music is the universal language. Plus every party needs music, every party needs a bard and every true party IRL needs to have an ENFP to keep it alive and vibrant. Good stuff

      One last interesting thing I thought of about ENFPs and Bards.
      Bards are usually socially acceptable and wanted in almost any situation. Around friends and foes. And if this were a true RPG with factions. ENFPs may be the only ones capable of crossing into enemy territory, without stealth, and able to sit down and amuse, entertain and strike some kind of diplomacy or treaty with an opposing faction and inspire them to think another way. As we are super friendly and socially adaptable. We definitely have what it takes to cross enemy lines and bard our message to their hearts. And that's true IRL aswell. Ultimate diplomats. Where ENFJs are on the front line holding the group together. ENFPs and ENTPs are capable of crossing enemy lines flying solo.
      Just some thoughts because this relates to real life aswell. And it's certainly true of me. In a high danger situation or a situation where my values are not welcome. Other people will say, "dont do it!" But I know exactly how to get in there and make good with everyone so I dont worry about it once. Instant perception, social adaptablity and understanding what people would like to hear and feel. All without ever having met them yet in my life. Like a 6th sense. Become a chameleon without altering any of my core values. I could convince you that I have the same personality as you for a short while just to make an Avenue into your internal personal space. Haha

    At first I liked AsuraPsych explanation more but I also love your explanation! When I play RPG games I always choose the mage class or wizard class mostly cause I think it’s the most fitting for me, and the fact that I always seen myself in an RPG world as the kind of character who is focused on seeking knowledge learning magic and understanding how the world works if this makes sense? But the thing is I don’t particularly have an agenda I just love learning and experimenting for the sake of it and to increase my understanding, but I really loved your explanation for the alchemist class it might actually fit me more than a wizard does 😂 because from my understanding of myself even if I was a wizard I wouldn’t necessarily like to be limited to a specific school of magic I’d love learning about all of them and have high understanding about how all types of magic work, so alchemist makes sense it does seem more fitting because alchemy or chemistry is extremely flexible I can be a DPS or a support which exactly mirrors the type of player I am cause I can’t choose between dps and support 😂 really loved your explanation!

I see myself as a woods witch. I'm off in my little hidey hole, and sometimes people come seeking truth, though they rarely like what they hear. Either way, the woods witch is just a vessel, no agenda, an observer who would just as well be left alone.

    In my case, as an ISFJ, I am always between a Paladin (upholding justice and supporting family, friends and society as a whole), a Cleric (on its connection with what is right and the desire to help others and smite evil) and a Druid (as it values stability and harmony of all componentes in life about all, independent yet dependent on the state of things around me).

    I have played a lot of rpgs over the years and tend to choose the cleric because I get a lot of satisfaction from helping npcs and other pcs as well as from being the conduit of my deity's power. I also like the wizard class for its interesting powerful spells and I identify with its limitations of having to retreat to solitude in order to rest up and study up enough to be able to face the next day's challenges. Like you said, our individual personality fits a range of types more than it does one specific type.

      Cognitive Personality Theory
      Thank you!
      I was not aware there was an existing MBTI theory pertaining to alter egos.
      I think it would be necessary to have “best of both worlds”, examining both the withstanding MBTI understanding of alter egos, as well as taking into consideration how it would practically play out.
      Covering both foundations would synthesize a framework that essentially functions as a “how to” guide for using the MBTI to successfully craft and use alter egos whose cognitive functions are radically different from your own.
      I think overall, the goal is to become deft at summoning/mastering certain cognitive functions at will for your purposes.
      Hoping that made sense. 🙂

    • @nyx7829
      @nyx7829 Před 4 lety

      Cognitive Personality Theory
      Actually, according to Jungian Analytical Psychology, there are 4 sides of the mind, each side containing 4 cognitive functions and the corresponding archetype (Hero, Parent, Child, Inferior etc.). Therefore we do have access to all the cognitive functions, except that they have a different archetype and are in a different side of the mind. For example, Ti Hero functions differently from Ti Nemesis.
      However, I wonder if we were to "reframe" the archetype of a cognitive function, then maybe we can control how it manifests and call upon at will, like with an alter ego.
      If thinking about it this way, We'd just be channeling certain cognitive functions at a different capacity that we're used to, rather than trying to adopt a function that we don't have at all.

    • @CognitivePersonality
      @CognitivePersonality  Před 4 lety +1

      @@nyx7829 Hi! CPT doesn't use a Four Sides model and it's important to bear in mind that is just one theory - it does not speak for all Jungian Typology, for example. Just had to clarify that :D CPT also doesn't ascribe specific mythological roles to functions, heh.
      But I think I understand you better now! I will definitely put in some effort into creating a CPT adaptation - I have already paved a part of the way through the coining of 'social archetypes' (e.g. favouring one function position over another) so I may extend that theory to encompass alter-ego :)

    Silly question, but in your opinion, how similar would you say an Eldritch Knight is to Star Wars' Jedi Knight? Based on how you described the EK, I found great resonance/similarity in its description to that of your typical Jedi Knight, and I'm curious if my understanding is somewhat on the right track about this. Your response would really help in clarifying this archetype to me. (Thanks in advance!)

    • @CognitivePersonality
      @CognitivePersonality  Před 3 lety +1

      Ah, intriguing question! I see the Jedo as more of a cleric, as casting is faith/connection based - EKs by comparison memorise spells in a less intuitive manner. The combat-casting is similar though!

    • @infinitysconcinnity2418
      @infinitysconcinnity2418 Před 3 lety +1

      @@CognitivePersonality I totally get the distinction here. More of an efforted focus (by the EKs) to gain their understandings (via brute learning/memorizing) in contrast to a more immediate/intuitive/spiritual manner in the Jedis. That distinction only clarifies this that much more to me! Thanks so much!

  • @TheOtherDrManhattan

    I like the interesting angles you have here, first one that seems to agree with the ISFJ being more Druid-like in nature. I agree with the INFJ choice, even though calling myself a wizard sounds too much like stroking my ego, hah. I need more preparation time and specific conditions than most people around me, so I'm likely not to be as adaptive as others, but I can get some considerable work done when those conditions are met. I believe I am an INFJ, anyhow, might have to take you up on your typing service to get an outside perspective :)

    • @TheOtherDrManhattan
      @TheOtherDrManhattan Před 3 lety

      I know it tends to be heavily stereotyped, but I could also see the argument made for INFJ being the Psion type, due to their more abstract contemplative nature. Not saying INFJs can just read minds and see the future, I know that you are aware of how over-mysticized the type is, but that said I could still see it fitting. Psychic type magic, as opposed to spellcasting, makes me think it all forms together more like an overlapping spiderweb, as opposed to singular, disconnected spells. They might both be able to perform similar feats, but it's the model through which it is cast that differentiates it. Psions spend more time forming a baseline to work from, from there creating nebulous free-flowing variations of how they apply that same overarching psychic energy. Alternatively, wizards/traditional mages would be more in the direction of rote memorization and specific, precise study. They study a wide range of possibilities for spells, building off of the old known spellcraft and from there reaching wherever they can to find new ideas, which I think is why INTP is stereotyped as wizard.
      But that said, it is all a matter of perspective and what we think qualifies as a wizard. Would love to hear your thoughts on this though if you have any!

    • @CognitivePersonality
      @CognitivePersonality  Před 3 lety +1

      I know what you mean! Ni-Ti can have an intuitive-logic feel to it so the Psion is an apt choice - I like your comparison of the Psion with the Wizard in regards to holistic vs specific logical styles too. I would say the INTP is in some senses too spontaneous and social, but in terms of experimentation and refinement within a prepared spellbook I do think the INTP is a suitable candidate!

They can hold their own in melee, one shot that pesky wizard from behind or catch their fireball and return it back. They can infiltrate into any organisation or be mastermind of their own organization. There is little what they cannot do

    INTJ's 11:14 The Warlock. Tolkien did not prefer the word, 'Warlock' he called us, The WItch Kings.
    Malbeth the Seer’s Word Said by Aragorn to Legolas and Gimli about the Paths of the Dead,
    quoting Malbeth the Seer.
    "Over the land there lies a long shadow,
    westward reaching wings of darkness.
    The Tower trembles; to the tombs of kings
    doom approaches. The Dead awaken;
    for the hour is come for the oathbreakers:
    at the Stone of Erech they shall stand again and hear there a horn in the hills ringing.
    Whose shall the horn be? Who shall call them
    from the grey twilight, the forgotten people?
    The heir of him to whom the oath they swore.
    From the North shall he come, need shall drive him:
    he shall pass the Door to the Paths of the Dead."
    This is terrific, Cognitive Personality Theory.
    Synchronicity. When I was young, there was a television show called 'Bewitched'
    about a witch who marries a mortal and hilarity ensues. It was must-watch tv for me.
    I may only have been 8ish but I recognized my archetype and Samantha, the good witch knew
    how to do things that mortals only imagined.
    And she and I both liked a bell, a book, and a candle.

    Also, INTP alchemist. Alchemist isn't a class. At best it is a sub-class of the Artificer, and archetypically should go to the ENTP. INTP should be either the wizard or the sorceror, or possibly even the Druid. While there were a few I kind of agreed with, particularly the monk, ranger and warrior, most of these I didn't really agree with. I've studies basically ever major typology theory/system (somewhat excepting Socionics, which is kind of wonky), and you have a somewhat odd take on your system. You seem to dwell more on tertiary and subordinate functions than on the actual primary and secondary functions.
