A convicted felon with a roof over his head AND a job is doing great!!! Praying for him to keep going!!! 🙏🏿
I am from Europe, so I don;t know much about USA regarding this topic (and many others, I guess). Why is it so uncommon for convicted fellon to have roof over head and a job? Here those things are so basic, anyone can have them...
@@ivanangelimajority of people and especially businesses owners here villainize all felons as criminals, also an easy way to discriminate. People would rather criminals just be criminals here than realize they are usually people in need of help.
@@samjackson4640 I agree. But mostly it is a product of society (how goverment is leadin gpeople, and education etc)
This video is exactly why I love the Ramsey crew, instead of putting this guy down for having gone to jail they are supporting and encouraging him for moving forward.
Exactly. The guy clearly wants to right the ship, that is his life, and they were very helpful and respectful to him.
After Cain murdered Abel, God allowed him to start a new life in a different place and marked him to prevent him from being killed by others. Through these acts of mercy, God reminds us that even in spite of our weakness - or outright depravity - God is a God of grace and second chances.

So proud of this young man for knowing that he wants guidance and to break generational curses.
no such thing as a curse. it's about owning your individual decisions.

Hearing his voice really moved me. He sounds like a young man desperate to improve his life. He's scared. Good move, Dave!
Don't give up, my friend done 13-years in jail. He been home for 5 years and came home got his CDL He drive a cement truck now he makes $45.00 an hour, he married and he bought a house.
Sheeeshhh
Excellent
"I shouldn't have been selling drugs" Dave: ok cool 😂. good luck man!
I wish we had more real calls like this instead of people bragging about how much money 💵 they make! Keeping it real 💯
Hey man, im a recovering heroin addict, have been sober for almost 9 years, i spent so much time in and out of jail.
I just wanted to let you know that it DOES get easier. The best advice i can give you is surround yourself with people who CARE about you.
Dont give up. Dont ever give up.
My brother died of heroin OD. He was super rich. Died at 49. God Bless u
@@PInk77W1 I'm so sorry for your loss. Addiction can be just as hard on a family as it is on the person who's addicted. God bless you.
@@PInk77W1 Super Nosey here. Was he thin? How did he make his money? I think the stories I hear about heroin users are that they are thin and can't keep a job. (the non-entertainment users)
I REALLY screwed up my life and end up in prison for 6 years at age 56!!! I surrendered my life to Jesus there and to this day (I'm 70), I'm STILL not rich but GRATEFUL to GOD that HE supplies, not necessarily what I want, but MUST DEFINITELY WHAT I NEED... And I'm not complaining PRAISE GOD!!!
How did you end up in prison if you don’t mind me asking?
May god continue to bless you. Thank you for sharing your testimony.
God is good!!!
Christians, generally, are the biggest perpetrators of prison-worthy crimes in the US. Far more than immigrants, muslims, or atheists.
You surrendered your life to the demons sir. lol
I am proud of you for tryig to turn your life around and the bonus is that you live with your mom, you have no kids, you have no debt, you have a job and you are in a far better spot than a lot of people.
I pray it stays that way. May God guide you to live a better life.
And he’s still young!
Yeah but he needs a good paying job which I suspect will be a huge challenge. Good jobs are not easy to get IMO because specialist jobs tend to require specialists trappings.... all of which is not easy to get IMO!!!!!
Dave did the most important thing he could do for this person who is struggling, He actually did something to help.
It doesn't matter what Dave status is, he has always been understanding of everyone regardless of their background. Great call!
He's in Phoenix: HVAC repair.
My son does it in Chicago and makes well into the 6 figures. Get job and he can learn on the job.
Agreed. I live in Tucson. HVAC certification is like 2-3 semesters at a community college here.
Agreed. Definitely a great career path coming from a former HVAC recruiter.
@@lonestarrk9308👋 fellow Tucsonan. HVAC certification is great, but if you don't have $$$ for those classes, then it don't do no good.
Taking out a loan is bad idea and also, if someone just got out of prison, it's even hard*er* to get a loan.
Along with HVAC, we have several chip fabs being built and you can get trained as maintenance techs for them for free and make good money if you don't want to deal with sweaty, grumpy customers 😂. A lot of great jobs here in the Valley
Congrats to you, sir, you are already in a much better place than you were in a year ago. One bit of advice about how to look at your current tow-truck job: Be 100% grateful for it. They hired you, with a conviction on your record, which very few employers would be willing to do, and are giving you a chance to work, and to develop a positive work history. This job is part of your comeback story. You can plan for your next job while also valuing the job you have. For now, while you also plan for your next job/career, be the best tow-truck operator that you can be. Instead of thinking that $30k is "s*** money", realize that it is a lot more than you were making in prison, and that it's a huge step toward where you want to get to. A bunch of viewers are pulling for you. Best of luck to you.
Well that is your idea but what works for you can't be true for all the rest of us. He does not like where things are now and we both know getting different jobs requires some level of willingness to leave the current one. SO F THAT GRATEFUL STUFF the law is not likely to help him given his past!!!
He’s a tow truck driver. My first thought is repo man. With all these people defaulting on their car loans, these banks are going to need lots of repo men.
There is a severe shortage of repo workers now
"You become who you hang around with." Amen 🙏

“I’m making Sh*t money. I’m only making 30k”. Dude, you’re lucky to have a paycheck PERIOD after service a prison sentence for 2 years.
And, why should he be not offered employment after serving his time?
@@JustinCase780 I was a former recruiter for a company I worked for and if you had a background as an ex con, your applications is shredded.
I get that you are cynical, but bear with me for a second. Pretend this was a family member of yours that you still loved. They f*ed up, but you still love them. You want them to be able to get back on track. Now think for a moment. This caller KNOWS he screwed up. He KNOWS he has to work on fixing things. As a society we have to make some amends and help people get back on track or they get back to doing what they are doing which is why Dave is setting him up with a mentor and role model to emulate. There was no mention of a dad, which I am willing to bet was not a role model or not even present. He is saying he is making sh*t money, not because he isn’t grateful to working but he knows it will be tough turning his life around at his current rate…. AND the appeal of “easy money” (by selling drugs) is out there. He’s trying and kudos to him for making the call for help.
@@theflightsimulationexperie6894 I would hire this guy in a second. He knows he screwed up and he's young. Corporate logic is protecting itself against liability. Some groups are not so stupid and will give him a shot. He could out perform most college grads today if he's serious about getting his crap together which seems to be the situation. What's the only option of ... ah, you sold drugs so can never work? Nonsense.
He didn't seem ungrateful but it honestly isn't good money, McDonald's is paying more. He may have not expressed it they way you'd like but it is in fact crappy money, plus he gets to deal with people in less than great situations all day... sometimes in the middle of 120 degree heat.
I hope the church helps and mentoring. The money the sellers make can be tremendous. My husband worked in the cocaine era as a cop, 4000 a day is not unheard of. Gangs brought in 8.000. They would find 20,000 in a house at times. Horrible life, no security, death/shootings always lurking, turf wars etc. but I can see why 30,000 year to a guy so young seems "shitty". He's thinking guys made that a month. The church and new friends can show him walking with God and living a virtuous life is better.
Love how kind dave is in situations like this
Man I get it! This was literally me. On drugs and selling drugs. I was homeless in my late teens / early 20’s, in and out of jail, on probation, living on couches you name it. now at 37 I’m married, have a great beautiful wife, 5 year old and on year 4 of my small business. While I still have so much more to do and a lot more growing to do, when I’m not feeling grateful I look at where I was 15, 16, 17 years ago, even 10 years ago, and I feel super grateful for how far I’ve come. Don’t give up no matter who you are, keep going.
That’s awesome! God bless
He needs to figure out a plan, such as does he want to go to college or get a trade. He needs to get around some positive men that can guide him in the right direction. I love the advice that was given to him.
Best of luck Jesse!!
Good luck Jessi, dont't buy useless stuff, save eyery mounth money and stay legal.
A brother of a good friend went to prison for several years for drug dealing. When he got out about 15 years ago he decided he wasn't going to do that again. He used those skills though to become very successful.
I would love to hear an update from him in a few years

Stay busy! The devil makes work for idle hands. If you have a job find a second one for your off time from the 1st job. The only time you should be home is to sleep, eat and shower until you find something more secure. Cut off all your old friends that aren’t positive influences and maybe think about leaving the area and completely starting fresh in another city

Start by getting behind Jesus, and letting him lead your life!
Get a job, work hard at it, read books instead of going to bars/parties - it starts there.

Praying for God to give you guidance young man! You are on the right path 🙌🏽
Excellent!!
Love this.
I have relatives who struggle to walk the straight and narrow because it sucks. The sacrifices and mediocrity of the working class lifestyle feels like a let down for those who prefer easy money, but easy money ruins your life in the long run. This man needs to learn the love of patience and short term sacrifice for long term gain. He needs to feel pride in earning an honest but humble living and that’s not easy. Especially when your opportunities are looking bleak. The fact that he even thought to call Dave Ramsey says something for his character though, and I hope he makes it through to the other side!!!
Very insightful, particularly around patience.
The buying power difference between his old income and the new will have long term differences. Tell that to all these RICH CZcamsRS... because they are not interested in giving up their source of wealth either!!!!
What a great advice ❤❤❤
Solid advice!
Great advice
Trust me. I've been there. I was incarcerated 3 times due to mental health problems. Within 6 months that I got home, I was blessed with a full-time job and 2 part-time jobs. Fast forward 2 years, all my charges were either dropped or expunged. Now, I am working on my masters degree that is fully online. Change is possible if you have the right people in your corner. It breaks my heart when I hear of people who go back, but this man is doing great. He is teaching us to have self-compassion. I hope he reads the comments.
One step at a time. The world's pretty crazy kind of like a prison out here in the "free world".
Oh so sweet thanks Ramsey!
Kudos to this guy, i'm sure he's got a very significant pay cut..... that is an adjustment, not to mention having a mark on his record, which makes it harder to land better carrer jobs.... he just keeps chugging along and doing what he is doing....
hang in there fella..... you can steer your course now.....
I remember the show once said plumbing pays well... dude's still young he should get qualified to ensure income and start earning good money as soon as possible...(while applying Dave's principles...) Electrician is a job I'd have tried years ago had I thought about it. 😎

Prison call….perfect timing
Having no friends is better than having the wrong friends. At least he can start anew.
He is in a better situation than most people who get out of prison.
I hope he turns his life around and does well.
I highly encourage this caller to work with a gent like Cal (that Dave Ramsey's contact). The first thing about doing something different is realizing you need help. The gent realizes this. As far as what else to do, figure out how to walk the straight and narrow. You can still turn this around. You can become another and become another George Steinbrenner. Just need to show you have changed and do something positive.
How can I get ahold of Jessie?? I’d like to hire him. I was him 15 years ago. Down to the 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
The most successful way is to have Jesus in your life and u asked the Lord what u need to do, sounds like a used car business will be great.
Ok, did I hear him right that he said he’s making “Sh_t money” 😂😂7:15. We all start somewhere.
Someone mentioned below that he could be a repo man because they are needed and he is already is a tow truck driver. I'll go one farther-He could eventually become a repo compay owner and maybe hire ex-cons that want to go straight. Just an idea.
Dave is spot on with saying “you are you you hang around with”. Surrounding yourself with the right people is the number one way to better your life. Another similar quote is “show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”. You’ll never soar with eagles if you keep hanging out with turkeys.
Sounds like this man has a future as a pharmaceutical sales rep. He would fit right in at Pfizer or Purdue Pharma!
