  • The element14 Community asks, and Clem delivers! In this episode, he's building a project suggested by one of our community members: an affordable, open-source alternative for expensive filmmaker gear that will allow anyone to control the focus and zoom of manual DSLR lenses. It would be similar to expensive professional LANC and focus pulling systems.
Clem wants to one-up the commercial solutions in one key aspect: the unit has to be fully self-contained, so that no external battery packs are needed. That is quite the challenge, as it means he will be trying to run a Nema 17 stepper motor from just a single Li-Po battery cell. Clem really needs to step up his power supply game for this project!
