  • Step by step tutorial to create a must have one page INFO page to answer FAQ with multiple tabs using Power BI Navigational Bookmark tool.
    In my previous video about Power BI INFO PAGE, I have shown you a very useful info page… that has multiple tabs in Power BI
    And we can click the various tabs.. and it will then display various information.
    In this video, I will show you how to recreate the one page info page from scratch....in Power BI.
    A quick and easy way to create navigation buttons that look like tabs on top of each report card.
    I will also show you how to customise your report to include only your desired pages and exclude selected pages from the navigational bookmarks, using bookmark group feature in Power BI.
    I will show you the secret to creating a page with multiple tabs in Power BI using Navigational bookmark feature.
    There are 6 steps involved:
    Step 1 - Create 1 page for each tab
    Step 2 - Create 1 bookmark for each tab
    Step 3 - Group the relevant bookmarks together
    Step 4 - Insert Navigational Bookmark & format it nicely
    Step 5 - Copy & paste navigational bookmark to each relevant page
    Step 6 - Show the page associated with the first tab and hide all other pages
    Once you have mastered this concept, you can also apply them to create multiple reports on the same page in Power BI. For example a report that shows sales charts and P&L charts in different tabs. If there in sufficient interest, I may create a video on this in the future...
    In the meantime, hope you find the video useful & please do subscribe so that you don't miss out on my future Power BI and Excel videos...
    Cheers,

    Unfortunately I could not use this technique for interactive reports as the box is an invisible barrier. I had assumed it would work after deploying. Is there a workaround?

    Why did you not use “page navigator” instead of “bookmark navigator”? (I imagine you could have added page navigator, and hidden all pages except the first one, without having to create bookmark groups).
    Just curious about the advantage of a bookmark navigator in this case.
    Btw, thank you so much for all your videos - I love how thorough and clear all your explanations are, and your voice is perfectly modulated, it is a pleasure to listen to your narration. Looking forward to new videos 👌😊

    • @LighthouseAnalytix
      @LighthouseAnalytix  Před rokem +8

      If we use page navigator... it will create buttons for every single pages, and we may end up with too many 'tabs'' or navigational buttons.
      In this case, for my INFO page, I only want buttons for selected pages, thus why I opted for the bookmark navigator instead of the page navigator

I have a question and I am hoping you can advise - I am looking to create multiple pages with multiple tabs (Ex. 4 different tabs for 4 different categories and information changes for each category+tab) Can you please share the process for the same? Thanks so much in advance!

    • @LighthouseAnalytix
      @LighthouseAnalytix  Před rokem +1

      Yes you can definitely do that...
      You simply need to create separate set of navigational bookmarks for each group of tabs.
      My recommendation is to start working on the first page first. Get it working... with the multiple tabs...
      and then work on your second page.
      All the best.

    Based on your example, when i move from for example Source Data tab to other page for example P&L_Dashboard and then come back to Info page i will see content from Last Refreshed tab but on bookmark navigator the Source Data button will be still marked 😔 This suggests the viewer that he sees different tab than he actually sees. Unfortunately the bookmark navigator remembers which button was last marked on specific page. Is there a solution to have always first button on bookmark navigator marked when i come back to specific page?

    • @LighthouseAnalytix
      @LighthouseAnalytix  Před rokem +1

      Hi Adam, whilst it appears problematic when viewed from Power BI desktop... the report behaves differently in Power BI service. Whenever you navigate to other pages, e.g. P&L_ByGL and then returning to Info page. Power BI remembers the tabs that you last navigated. E.g. if the last tab that you clicked was Source Data... it brings you back to Source Data. Give it a go and let me know what you think.

  • @saurabhkejriwal1765
    @saurabhkejriwal1765 Před 6 měsíci

    Hi Isabella. Very helpful video. However, I found 1 problem when I implemented it on my power bi report. So I placed bookmark navigator of Page1 and all other hidden pages (Page2, Page3) on the non-hidden original page Tab Page1. I clicked on Page2 bookmark and Page2 content got rendered just fine on Page1 Tab. Good so far. Now I went to a random Page4 of report and came back to Tab Page1. Page1 content opens fine but shows Page2 bookmark selected. It should show Page1 bookmark navigator selected because Page1 content gets rendered OR it should continue to show Page2 content since Page2 bookmark is selected. Either should be the right case. Please try it out and help to solve this.

      Whilst it can be a bit problematic in PBI desktop... it may perform ok in PBI Service. Have you tried publishing it to PBI service and then UAT it?

      She's creating the effect where each box is acting as a window for the page she is clicking on. It's not possible to use the area outside of the canvas (the perforated lines), so she is manufacturing the appearance that the buttons are outside of the pages and the pages are inside the box, If that makes sense.
