Peabo Bryson cover - Why Goodbye

- Back in 1994, this was one of the songs that inspired me the most to start writing. Peabo Bryson (one of my biggest vocal influences) recorded this Diane Warren (def my biggest songwriting influence) tune and David Foster (another huge influence on me) produced the track.

Yes, of course, the awesome job covering such a ranging vocal and emotional song but, most of all w/ your assessment of Peabo Bryson being one of the best as well as most underrated vocalist ever. Just have to say one more thing. You don't just COVER this song. You really make it your own; and confidently at that. I wouldn't even have attempted or thought of some of the little nuances you put into this. My mother (who is NOT heavy-handed with compliments) couldn't even get over this. Just incredible. Wow..what a gorgeous voice..best version of 'why goodbye' by far !
Unfortunately, I have to disagree. Zarley did a fantastic job and made it his own, but best version is pushing it in my opinion. I consider the original by Peabo to be the best, and not because it was the first. Peabo's vocals are just hard to top. Zarley's cover is a close second to the original though.

You did Peabo proud! What I heard was a hybrid of Peabo and Johnny Mathis. If you're familiar with Johnny Mathis, he covered this song 2 years after Peabo did. Anyhow, I loved this cover. It was strong and clear but not overwhelming. You gave it a Chicago soul feel to it.
