This movie is basically an extended live-action episode of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Plus, the Pheobe awkward teen storyline
that is APT / ON POINT / 100% / Perfectly Said.

The movie was great. Just like 3. Except the woke maybe gayyyy teen girl story line that made half the theaters gasp...oh no. Cmon. Just stop already.

fun fact dan aykroid said when he wrote the first movie that slimmer is the ghost of john belushi just a guy who wants to have a good time. john was supposed to be one of the original ghostbusters but died before the movie was made. and john candy was originally casted to play lewis

Ernie Hudson was able to reprise this role, because unfortunately he the show he was on quantum leap was cancelled. Which sucks it was good, earned Hudson ran the project quantum leap, and played a character that the original character Sam helped when he leaped into him.
We it got canned cuz of the woke DEI cast. Plain and simple.
The behind the scenes and extras are really cool. I love how this movie shows more of the firehouse. The subplot with Slimer and Trevor was an unused subplot from the second movie where Rick Moranis’s character was tracking down Slimer cause Slimer was eating his food. 7:41 he’s the “dickless” guy. 7:52 that was one of the first movies that Ivan Reitman directed. It was also on the movie theater marquee in the third one and maybe the first or second one.
It’s nice to know that the GBs have a FEW friends in law enforcement.
I really liked this movie. Sure it had problems but it had a lot of heart and was in my opinion fun. Really hope they get to make another one, maybe without so many characters. Just let the new ghostbusters work and save the day.
OG movie is my favourite movie. i was released the same year as the original movie, and my Birthday was on Wednesday so i decided to watch this movie for my birthday. i dont follow the community posts so to find this as a reaction tonight was an awesome surprise.🙂

I enjoyed the beginning and the end of the movie, but the middle seemed to drag on forever! Bustin still makes me feel good.

It waa not easy to take out granka they needed Phoebe and the fire master character and then to reverse the ghost hole and Phoebe was trying to convince the ghost in the basement to help out and maybe she did not have time to put the same iron in the others proton packs
I love that they made the merchandising part of the canon, continuing that we had the song in the kids' party in Ghostbuster 2. This all means that perhaps the cartoon also exists as a cartoon in that world (the eyeball ghost from Afterlife was based on the same character from the cartoon, which had a toy version as well; I had the toy). On one hand, it's kind of a silly/crazy thing to do with the meta aspects. On the other, it's cool, because it also grounds the world somewhat with things that many of us in the 80s had (and may still have laying around somewhere). Sort of a cool way of including all the fans into the world of what we love.
Best way to watch this movie
so this super frost ghost god who can freeze proton pack beams and the city around him can't freeze some fire from a match or fire guy. And his kryptonite is brass. How did they dream that up, throwing a dart at a board? Sorry. They had the chance to have a cool (get it?) enemy in the movie, and really did nothing with it other than having the guy stick his horns back on.
Yeah, just a dumb story to entertain the current dumb crop. Makes me appreciate the cleverness of the dialogue in GB1 & 2 with real stakes and a proper villain.
GB4 aka "Frozen Empire" filmed in less than 2 months (impressive).
It was meant for Christmas 2023, but was pushed back.
In following the events of GB3 aka Afterlife was so much fun.
Taking it all the way back to NYC where the legacy started.
The cast of veteran and newer characters together, the storytelling, the sequences, the effects are pretty good.
This is a legacy sequel to the fullest with the 40th anniversary and so many more homages and nods to the franchise.
Especially the first 2 films, The Real Ghostbusters animated series and the 2009 video game.
I missed the showings in special formats and would've been fun to see it in either way.
Can't say too much about the future of the franchise as the official convention for GB has announced a lot more on the way.
But i will say that bringing it back to glory and still showing love for it has been something.
The one thing we get a ton of in this one are those magnificent ecto-1 driving around the city shots
Honestly had low expectations but really enjoyed this one. I also think they put some thought into the lore and didn't get credit for it.
The tiny Tim nod was awesome. 👏

My favourite ghost is always Slimer.
My favourite Ghostbuster has changed over the last couple of years. It was Egon, but I really like Phoebe more now, especially if she was more like what she was in Afterlife. In that movie, she had a lot more of the Egon personality.
And yes, I'd love to see more Ghostbusters movies, especially focusing on the Spangler family. And Phoebe would be the leader of them, if she was, as stated, more like how she was in Afterlife.

Cannibal Girls is a legit comedy horror film from 1973 directed by Ivan Reitman. The director of the OG Ghostbusters. It was also shown in the marquee of the original film. Its not a bad watch, dated, but funny.

They just had to turn it into a silly cartoon! I lament modern filmmakers and studios that are as much addicted to CGI as a crutch for weak storytelling abilities as they are to coke. I miss the 80's with their practical effects and reliance on strong storytelling to make their films a success (Gremlins 1 & 2; Critters 1 & 2; Invaders from Mars; Krull; The Thing; Aliens; Dark Crystal; Dragonslayer; Robocop; American Werewolf; The Fly; Return Of The Living Dead; Ghostbusters 1 & 2; and so many others) .

I think the new team does very well and worthy of the torch passing. I think the 2016 Ghostbusters failed not because they where women but because they where too close to their male counterparts. No one likes character clones it's like replacing a popular character in a tv show with a similar one just doesn't work. This new team is a little similar yet very different from the original team. Each person stands out yet functions properly as a team.
This movie suuuuuuuuuuucks. I don't know how you make a movie with this cast, and none of it is funny. Sad, I really wanted to love it.
