Looks like standard US MRE parts repacked by a canadian company. The box even said product of the USA and all the sides I could see the label on were from Wornick, which is one of the 3 suppliers for the DOD. You can get the same thing under the Eversafe brand for much less.
picked up some pilot bread a couple years ago. found that it tastes the same as the standard crackers. only difference is the shape & size. also the ration heater is the current generation.
Followed Steve1989MREInfo for a long time and decided to try out some of the other reviewers. I do like Nathans MRE, but I just weep with frustration when I see him just mix up everything all at once and take one or two bites from everything and that's it. I'd give my right arm for almost all of these meals that he reviews and he throws out most of it. Having said that, though, he reviews them quite thoroughly, pointing out which components are worth eating, which are bland and unappealing, and he gives a review on each drink included with the various meals. I like that he describes the flavor profiles a bit better than Steve does. I was pleasantly surprised about his review of the Italian ration that came with the cordial. Everyone who has reviewed that ration has never really commented on the taste of it, only the rarity of having it. I liked the Listerine taste review...and not the minty kind. That, alone, scratched that particular MRE off of my wishlist. Keep up the videos!
I've never seen a video where he says or does throw away any part of an MRE except for those components that are foul and only an idiot would try them.... and end up in a hospital.
@@geneard639 I was making an assumption, I suppose. In Steve's videos, you see him eat everything (or, mostly) in the meals, and Nathan only takes a bite or two of each component, so I was assuming he didn't eat the rest. Perhaps he does, off camera.
These are similar heaters to what XMRE uses. Much more aggressive than traditional FRH's. I like them, but you don't want to handle them once they take off. LOL
I have only reviewed one of these, but the rest of the case is still here. I will get back to them, when I finish the French RCIR. First one was excellent. Heaters are awesome. I hope you like Tootsie rolls. All meals have them. Good looking meal you had Nathan. As previously stated, I will get back to these soon. Some good sounding menus are included. I guess with a better FRH that might increase the cost of the rations but 200 bucks a case? at 16 bucks a meal that's a lot for what you're getting compared to the MRE's we're getting in the US already. From appearance, they seem to be using half of the same components, but I'll take your word for the taste. Higher quality goes a long way.
I wonder why most of the civilian ration companies put in a tootsie roll in it. Maybe the manufacturer of tootsie rolls gives great bulk buy prices 😂 It's really cool to see that ration. I don't think I've seen one reviewed before. Great review :)

I can't stand the apple sauces and smoothies. My problem with them is when they're warm from a hot day in your pack, they are unappealing and if it's below freezing I think they'd set up like cement. For my money, I'd prefer an extra pop tart or oatmeal cookie, then again I have a sweet tooth.

yeah, the reason the ration heater had a fill line that high was because it was designed to work upright. (have to keep it wet, so need more water)
