Placing ALL the blame on Jeremy Kyle is an utter joke. Now, I want to make it very clear I AM NOT saying he or the production crew didn't do anything wrong or aren't responsible for what they are BUT....
After over 10 years of watching the show SUDDENLY viewers have a conscience?
The show was ONLY on the air for as long as it was, BECAUSE OF THE AUDIENCE.
The show was ONLY BECAUSE OF THE AUDIENCE.
There's a lot of double standards here from both those behind the scenes AND in front of the TV.
We, as a society happily support and tolerate something like this, and SOON AS it results in a death we're all high and mighty?
Same as the rise of crime or homelessness. We don't do anything.... until it affects us or we need to make ourselves look good.
The Jeremy Kyle Show (and anything similar) ONLY lasts as long as it does because of US.
EVERYONE has benefited from it. And EVERYONE wants to look whiter than white.
And that's the reason our society is in such a shambles. Everyone cares AFTER THE FACT,
      David

      Television driven bigottry and dehumanisation.
Kyle was one of many programmes that allowed the middle/working class to look down on with disgust those less fortunate.
This is how the m*slim r*pe gangs are allowed to exist. Because the victims were poor or in care.
Also how austerity was easily accepted and the benefits system attacked after the financial crash.

@@MatthewBP Having low intelligence is not a crime, nor is it a moral failing. It's certainly not a free ticket for people of (marginally) greater intelligence to manipulate these people with false promises. This is why we need regulatory bodies and other services in place to try and prevent this kind of thing from happening. In this case, it's clear not enough was being done.
It's not their fault any more than e.g. you would blame an old dear for having her life savings stolen for believing a scammer over the telephone.
It's clear a lot of these people come from atrocious circumstances. However repulsive or unsympathetic they may seem, they're not animals to be trotted around at the human circus so other people can jibe and laugh and feel better about themselves. There is a reason why people have these conceptions of poor people and non-Whites as undesirable, not just in this country but everywhere, because it's grounded in truth. Likewise it's a fact that many problems regarding strains on resoources, housing and infrastructure are caused by mass immigration and dysgenic poor people being subsidised to breed. Unpopular opinion apparently - but I loved the show when it was on, and find it hypocritical and disingenuous of ITV that they canned it after a single person's death, yet Love Island's death toll is significantly higher, yet they continue with the show.
It had nothing to do with the death of the person involved. ITV cut the show to make it looked like they cared, but they don't. Love Island is a huge ratings boost and a cash cow for ITV so what if people die? They don't care.
Was nothing to do with people's lives and all to do with money.

Instead of facing up to what we do, then try to do better we just grab the pitchforks & go for the sacrificial lamb. It's always easier to blame our problems on someone or something else than take account for them & try not to repeat them. We always knew he was hypocritical, but after the suicide he shown not an ounce of genuine remorse that his show driven him to it or even seemed that bothered full stop, all he cared about and focused on was the criticism he got - like his dented ego bothered him more than a person taking their own life because of him.
He forgot his own flaws, always made the episodes about himself (especially with his line "it's called the Jeremy Kyle Show" before telling people to shut up) and he doesn't care that a person died because of his show. It had the hallmarks of a total narcissist, it's so obvious now.

I always found it amusing/worrying that the guests were prepared to make these momentous, life-altering decisions (I'm leaving you, I'm taking the kids, etc) on the strength of the lie detector test, the efficacy of which is clearly dubious, hence it's not being used in courts, police interviews and so on. I can't recall ever seeing or hearing any kind of disclaimer about that, either.

    • @andywhite4111
      @andywhite4111 Před rokem +15

Not only was there no disclaimer about the dubiousness of the tests, I've even seen clips that actually promote how highly accurate they are. If I remember right, it was scrolling text along the bottom of the screen whenever he was just about to read out results, or shortly afterwards. And it read something along the lines of "experts say that lie detector tests are around 96% accurate". I've also seen clips where this text was conspicuously absent though. So I'm guessing they either made this claim at first, but then their lawyer wised up and made them remove it, or they didn't make the claim at first but later repeatedly asked a bunch of different polygraphists (no bias there) to put a number on it until one of them gave them a figure high enough for them to be happy quoting on subsequent episodes. I also remember Jeremy often drilling that figure into the heads of the guests after the initial outburst from the results being read out, in order to prevent any defence from a potentially innocent victim of the test, and to manipulate the spouse into maintaining their anger and continuing down the path of a declaration of ending the relationship whilst the cameras are still running, because hey, ratings. Disgraceful.

They pointed out the strap line at the bottom of the screen that said, "practitioners say the lie detector is over 95% accurate", and point out that practitioners of crystal healing and astrology would also put that level of accuracy on their specialty.
I remember pointing out how strange it was that he chased people out of the studio and down the street when he still had results to read and a part to finish but when everything he needed was in the can he let them go, moaning about how they weren't going to get any attention from him.
I remember guests trying to defend themselves with a primary school education whilst he had 61 people in the gallery feeding smart ass replies into his ear piece.
And finally I remember him screaming at guests that they didn't matter, it was his show and his name was on the wall. But at no time did I ever see him on stage filling a 20 minute segment with his life's flaws.

A girl i know went on JK because the babys dad was denying hes the dad, and because she rarely went to school she genuinely thought that DNA tests were a thing you could only do on TV.
She came on with her then boyfriend and the baby's dad, and brought a long her mom, her brother and her brothers girlfriend. She said when they arrived at the hotel the night before, their rooms were on different floors and there was no way of changing rooms. They were also told they're not allowed their phones "to prevent arguing". The crew would then come in and out of their rooms "to check on them", but each time would come back with gossip between all of them. He said this and she said that. She said she knew something was up when one team member said her mom called her a slag. I was close with her mom and she would have never, ever said that about her daughter. In fact, she was proud of her for having kids with different dads. So while she realised what was going on she had no way of telling the others because each time you left your room a team member would coincidentally pop out and be like heyy bestie where we going? Theyd keep you seperated and continue spreading false gossip right until you appear on the stage.
So that explains why they behave like raging bulls before theyve even started. I cant imagine how many relationships these demons have destroyed and i wonder is the dna test even real?

@@chrishenniker5944 You absolutely can. You won't see them bringing on a Boris Johnson type with 4 wives, 10 kids, and a handful of mistresses on to goad them into embarrassing themselves. They go for the people who they can bribe with a handful of cash to exploit them on national tv with the promise that they will resolve their problems.

Actually Jeremy Kyle started off on North West radio station "Century FM" in the very early 2000's. He was sort of like an agony uncle called "Jezz" on a phone -in late night radio show. A nickname obviously nicked from Corry bad boy at the time - Jezz Quigley. 🧐🤔

It's refreshing to see so many people agree Jeremy Kyles show was terrible now. Back when it was on people would always disagree with me when I said he was a bully who exploited lower class people.
No security to hide behind when someone dies, Jezza.

A neighbours son went onto Jeremy Kyle's show, he was ages woth my son so he asked me to tape it, I didn't like the show is just humiliated and manipulated people. He hung himself, I don't know how long after he was on the show it happened but it wasn't just after he had been on it, however it shows just how fragile these people could be mentally

The show was a guilty pleasure for more than willing to admit, thats why it lasted so long.
Kyle only thought and said what most of us thought about the muppets appearing on it.

Human misery is still being turned into TV entertainment. Storage Wars is probably the worst because it totally skips over the misery part. Someone lost their stuff because they couldn't pay for their storage locker (these things are often used by people at their rock bottom). Then, they make a TV show where people are bidding on it like vultures. They talk about it like blind box prizes, all super happy that they won someone's valuable stuff 👍

You get back what you give out! Jeremy Kyle is getting exactly what he deserves, I only hope it lasts as long as his exploitative show was on air. Having an extreme emotional response to a situation that doesn’t actually effect your life is insanity, it’s nothing more than showboating for attention. Pathetic.

Never liked the show. Somehow it seemed aimed at the benefits class while also poking fun at them. After a while it began to look like people just looking to make a name for themselves or get their own tv show and hard to tell if the show was entirely fictitious and dramatised.
