    How well does this 2014 Honda PCX150 do for high speed riding? I decided to demonstrate the realistic top speed and passing power that you can expect with the PCX. When it comes to roads 55 mph and less, this is the perfect scooter to commute on. It's rather peppy and provides a good amount of passing power. Once you get past about 50 mph, it becomes sluggish. This is especially true if you have heavy winds or if you're going uphill. While the scooter does read 67 mph as a top speed going down hill and a back wind, this is no where close to a realistic everyday speed. Regardless, if you only plan on commuting on roads where the top speed is no more than 50 mph, you will not be disappointed.

    Great video youngman. I purchased the 2015 Honda PCX150 in July this year. I have since did the following mods : NCY variator kit {drive face with variator and 13g rollers} next was the Givi short screen {bug protection here in S.C.} then the Leo Vince Corsa exhaust.
    She would hit the rev limiter at 63mph (GPS) prior to mods and now runs 75 mph (GPS) on top end. I ran the other day 71 mph into a head wind climbing hills so she has the speed needed. It did not mess with the gas mileage but then again I am a hand fisted type rider. Next year I will put new tires on and will go with the City Grips and one size taller on the rear only. These videos and the price are what have helped my decide on my purchase. Thanks for the informative information and enjoy the ride.

    I bought the 2018 version. Its good for freeway only if ur planning to travel no further than a couple of exits. A little too light for freeway riding though especially when there is strong wind. Great for city driving. Good ergonomic design makes it possible to ride all day w/o physical fatigue.

    How does it do climbing hills? My Zuma 50 hits close 45 on flat roads but bogs down to 20-25 with any grade. Need something that can maintain 45+ while on an incline.

      The PCX 150 does well for me. My weight plus all my gear is probably less than 170-180 pounds. I've had heavier people ride it, however they mention it's not as peppy at higher speeds and hills, situations which don't affect me as much. That said, it can probably do hills 55+ on hills for most people without issue.

    MotoXBee I just came from the honda powersports dealer to see the pcx150. It was really comfortable, surprised how big it was and im a big guy. Question, im 5'7 330lbs will this Scooter be able to commute in 90% 25-45mph streets? I would need to occasionally go 50mph to speed up a bit. NO HIGHWAY use though, this will be just a 2nd mode of transportation for me in Arizona. In my area it's REALLY FLAT also no hills

    • @paulAntill
      @paulAntill  Před 6 lety +1

      If like you say you're primarily doing roads up to 45 mph with the occasional 50 mph, it'll be great, especially with flat terrain. Just keep in mind that passing power might be limited at those higher speeds. As long as the roads you're travelling on aren't more than 60 mph, I think you'll have a great time!

      MotoXBee,Yes I purchased my bike brand new from my local bike shop here in penang Malaysia it was the last of the original model and they ordered it straight from the honda bike factory which we have here, being they were already tooling up to produce the new 2015 model mine was there last one in stock a black 150cc one, the only mods it has are that I changed the front screen for the Givi D1136ST and a Givi E370 back box, fitted Maxxis 3D diamond tyres and I have no stability issues even at 70 plus except of course if it's a windy day then of course you match your speed to the conditions right. I've had the bike 3 yrs now it's done 18,000k just over 11,000 miles and has run like a Swiss watch, of course its mostly used around town with the very occasional run on the highway, and I keep it well maintained. Maybe in the US and some Europe country's they have restristors, fortunately here in Asia they do not, just go to CZcams type in Top Speed for Honda PCX 150 you will see examples of standard bike speed tests, some that show indicated speeds of 120k plus, of course how accurate the Speedo is that's another debate.

      @@paulAntill I suspect that an asian market PCX 150 has different govt standards to meet and thus will have quite different top ends stock because they are tuned differently,. with overseas tuning being less restrictive. I have a 13 PCX150 myself. I commute it 60 miles a day in the SF/East Bay of NorCal. It floats right about 63. I feel it being mechanically restricted right about 63 regardless. Perhaps new variator rollers may help, may not. With that being said, during normal morning commutes here for a 9-5 work schedule, (the worst commuting hours) I can make the trip to work or from work to home in 45 mins. That's screaming good. In a car call it an hour and a half. I float effortlessly between cars at just about full throttle. Almost the entire trip i'm screaming past all the other vehicles. Now if it's late at night, few cars on the road, I'm somewhat of a speed impediment-I'm definitely all the way to the right and likely the slowest vehicle on the road. I'm getting 71 MPG, its' got just under 12K miles on it, I have so far never had the valves done, I do intend to get it done asap. I've been riding since I was 12, I currently also have a 2000zx12r, a 1997 Sportster 1200, a 2003 Honda Nighthawk 750, an 87 CH150, 2008 Piaggio MP3 400 (pure junk) a 03 vulcan 500 and a 81 Goldwing GL1100. I hate to commute to the office on anything besides the PCX 150 for its' small foot print. Spiting lanes is insanely easy given the bike's narrow body and small footprint. It's a scream to ride, it's super convenient for store runs, and who can argue with 71 mpg. everything else I have ballparks 38-47 MPG. I don't really care how fast it tops out at. If i want speed I can ride something else. And I checked into it, you can't alter the mechanical restricting that the manufacturer instilled in the design. Just accept it. the only alternative is to buy a Yamaha SMAX 155 CC. The problem is Yamaha is notoriously unreliable. I've had several. Don't buy a Yammy unless you really want to spend a lot of time & $ at the Stealership's service dept.....but then you can hit a GPS certified 75 MPH.

    I’m not really sure why companies aren’t making 250cc scooters in a smaller frame size. Right now If you wanna hit 70 to 80 mph you have to settle for an enormous scooter that’s way to big in size. Companies need to make normal size scooters with 250cc so we could enjoy a little speed.

      Your weight is not an issue. But it's a city bike and not a cruising bike. You won't like it at all if you're going to use it for long trips on big roads. Sure it will do 60mph with some effort (for a skinny person) but it's just not a good experience. 45-50 mph is the sweet spot on this scooter. Take a test ride before you buy it - it's very light and might feel weird if you are used to riding heavier bikes.
