    Drops two amazing videos, doesn’t elaborate, disappears. This tutorial was probably the best I’ve seen for painting Necron blades, thank you!

    This is the first glazing tutorial that told me how many layers it should take. Finally!! Can't wait to see more!

    Absolutely love this paint scheme! I always write down paint schemes that I find online and plan on using, so here's the instruction set for this video. It's "one-to-one" with whats said in the vid
    1. Paint 1:1 black : Calliban green into the recessed pattern in Hyperphase weapons
    2. Base blades with moot green (don't cover the dark green in the recesses)
    3. Using VERY THIN Warpstone glow, glaze the shaded areas
    a. Shaded areas
    b. End brush strokes wherever you want to be darkest
    c. Lots of VERY THIN layers (like, 8)
    4. Using VERY THIN Calliban green, glaze over the areas glazed in the previous step, but in smaller section leaving some of the previous glaze showing
    a. Lots of layers (6(ish))
    5. Mix dark purple and Calliban green, add a touch of black, then thin it. Glaze this over the shaded areas, in smaller areas leaving a portion of the other glazes showing
    6. Thin the dark purple VERY THIN, mix in a little purple ink too and glaze into the absolute smallest shaded areas
    7. Mix moot green and Flashgitz yellow, and thin. Using this, glaze the highlights
    a. Highlight some areas right next to shadows for contrast
    b. Lots of layers (6-ish)
    8. Mix moot green and dorn yellow and thin right down. Glaze the highlights again, but in smaller patches leaving some of the highlight underneath showing
    a. Only need about 4 layers
    9. Mix moot green and Flashgitz yellow and use to edge highlight
    a. Don't be stingy, highlight pretty much every edge
    10. Edge highlight the absolute brightest areas with dorn yellow
    a. Don't be stingy here either, but try not to go overboard
    b. Highlight areas where the light would catch
    c. Don't forget to edge highlight the "crease" down the centre of the blade
    Thin layer of Lahmian medium all over the blade

    Man, you are a dam magician! I ruined my necron and start to looking for a good detailed guide how to pain blades and found this video. Thank god I had most of the paint and I started to follow your steps. Couldn't believe that this is actually working!
    Best glazing tutorial so far! Thank you so much!

    Great intro for glazing! When you mix the glazes, the paint, since it’s so thin, seems to run straight up to the ferrule. How do you stop this? Or do you just rinse your brush immediately and just sacrifice the paint on it?

    • @WhiteoutMiniatures
      @WhiteoutMiniatures  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks so much!! I have a separate old brush that i use exclusively for mixing paint, that way it doesn't ruin the ferrule on my painting brushes.

    Fantastic video! Gonna try this on my void dragons tail after i messed up my last blades. Do you know if vallejo ice yellow instead of the ak interactive one and the vallejo royal purple 2 instead of the scale 75 would work?

  • @alienatedbeing7513
    @alienatedbeing7513 Před 3 lety

    Great video! Do you find Ice yellow better than Dorn? I’m using Dorn yellow but it’s super thick, I always mix loads of lahmian medium with it as it always seems to curdle when I just use water.
    I hate painting the line down the middle of the blade, so easy to mess it up! 😂

    • @WhiteoutMiniatures
      @WhiteoutMiniatures  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, apologies for the late reply. Yeah I much prefer Ice Yellow over Dorn as it's a touch brighter and much easier to thin and glaze with. It and Vallejo Ivory are my two most used paints!

    How does adding a clear layer of plain lahmian medium tie the colours together? Isn't it just the same as adding a matt seal/varnish?

    • @WhiteoutMiniatures
      @WhiteoutMiniatures  Před 3 lety +1

      It's ties the finish of each colour together, some will have more shine than others which will look really weird, the medium at the end removes that by giving every colour the same satin finish

      @@WhiteoutMiniatures ty. I think another problem is the brush I'm using. I have trouble keeping the points on them. I'm still learning how to thin down the paints to the right consistency and getting the proper amount on the brush. I literally started this hobby last year when the shut down started :P
