The tree is about 45 years old and almost a meter (3 foot) tall, planted in a simple Chinese pot. The exact species is "Wisteria Floribunda".

Fell in love with this tree. I ordered some seeds to grow my own. Now waiting to see if it will grow .

It's best to grow them from cuttings, as seed grown wisteria can take up to 20 years to flower. If you see someone with a wisteria, just ask them for a cutting or two, as they are regularly pruned and a lot is thrown away.

Ok great! is this one yours? =) im starting a wisteria and have it at 1/2 a meter at the moment. (still in its first year of life grown from seed) should i go past a meter then cut it back to thicken the trunk? or just have it thicken over time?
