He also took drugs which if he was craving for his next high would make him fidgety and anxious. Great actor but clearly troubled, after this interview he probably went home and took lots of drugs passed out on the sofa.
I understand his joker role was his best transformation and performance, but please everybody stop commenting things like "oh look at how much he fidgets he's the joker alright" and "oh when he said this he sounded just like the joker, he really is the joker" His joker role shouldn't define him, he was an amazing actor before his joker role, it only solidified it even more after the fact. I much the same way having mental health issues myself... It's a common theme in hollywood guys people turn to drugs to handle the stress. Imagine the most stressful personal issue in your life, such as a divorce, and imagine reading untrue accounts about yourself and peoples opinions and hate on every single thing you do. That shit is fucking hard and to many people NOT worth the high pay which wont take away that kind of pain and discomfort.

The most amazing thing is that, despite the fact that he looks nervous and kind of shy, you can see how he immediately seizes the opportunity to play the didjeridoo and he even adds some humor to his performance, showing complete confidence in doing so. I think it is this combination of hesitation and agitation with boldness and self-control that makes his persona (and his acting) so hypnotic. I miss this guy.

Just cause he took pills to sleep doesn't mean he had a pill problem or was a drug addict. Back then the dangers of self prescribing medications wasn't emphasized as much as it is now so he may not have even realized what he was doing was dangerous
