You cant beat old school because every sound and every note is Real! No digital or enhanced sound. Just the raw natural, actual sound of the artists voice and heart.

In a 2012 Lionel Richie tribute (where Lionel & Kenny beautifully sing Lady together), Kenny begins with the back story. He & Lionel didn’t know each other, when Kenny called Lionel, to write a song for his new album. When they met the 1st time, in Kenny’s hotel room in Vegas, Lionel had a bit of a song (just 1 word, “Lady” & a few bars of melody), which had been rejected by the Commadores, but Kenny liked it. 6 months later, in the studio, Kenny recorded the 1st verse, asked where the 2nd verse was, & found out that Lionel was in the toilet, writing the rest of the song. In a later interview, Lionel adds to the story, making it even funnier. He said, the 1 word he had was actually “Baby”, but when they met, Kenny kept going on & on about his wife, repeatedly calling her “a Lady”, so when Kenny asked the name of the song, Lionel blurted out “Lady.”

Yes, women of ALL ages just melt at this song and we can see why between Lionel's beautiful lyrics and Kenny's (as you said) soulful voice, it's one of the top love songs of all time. It's in my top five. John Denver's "Annie's Song" is also a goosebumps love song. And really any of Lionel's love songs "Truly", "Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady", "Endless Love" that he sang with Diana Ross... SO much talent!

Lionel wrote this song and said he could only hear Kenny Rogers voice singing it. Also, listen to Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sing "Unchained Melody" live in 1965. He was 25 yrs. old and his parents were in the audience for the first time. His performance is AMAZING!! (P.S. The 60's were incredible as well... Motown was in power!)

Yes Kenny was fantastic. We lost him last year. You definitely need to check out Righteous Brothers. I highly recommend Unchained Melody which is a solo by Bobby Hatfield. Then You've Lost That Lovin Feeling that is both of them with Bill Medley taking the lead. Then You're My Soul And Inspiration.

Not completely accurate. Here’s the link where Kenny Rogers is honoring Lionel Richie and he tells the story of how this song came to me. He called Lionel Richie and told him he wanted him to write a song for him and Lionel said no. You’ll see that he ended up changing his mind. Lionel Richie had sent this to the Commodores Inn one of them to do a song. The only part of the song including the music that Lionel had at the time was “Lady.” )with the notes. Kenny was sold and wanted to know how The Commodores could turn them down. Kenny said that he had the first part written and Lionel was working on the second part in the bathroom on the toilet. In any event, this song was the bomb before it ever got started. Watch the link below to see what Kenny and Lionel had to say about this beautiful song.

@@LadyGator1983 one of the best tails I had ever heard. There is a lot to it and one must watch numerous different interviews to get the entire story. Also the original title was Baby. Because Kenny had been chatting about the new upper class woman in his life that had fallen in love with him, the idea of the title hit Lionel and he changed it to Lady.

Yes! And Kenny took an instant liking to Lionel and Lionel moved into a guest house on Kenny's property. They became best friends from the start. They wrote lots of music together which became huge hits. So, they made each other become exponentially better at their craft. God blessed them with raw talent and each other! Yes, He had a plan.

Major goosebumps! And you’re right, the music was often more thoughtful perhaps, no autotune, and from the heart. Much of the music didn’t refer to drugs or use profanity which feels like a simpler time. They put so much work and heart into each song, making it as good as it can be. (i.e. BeeGee’s and Queen as examples). It’s just good.

Young people are always amazed by old school songs and singers. They constantly berate "auto-tune" and overly produced artists of today. Guys, I understand that it is difficult to express what you are hearing that seems so different. I will tell you. Before digital recording and computerized production, music was organic. The instruments being played were real, the musicians were real, the singers voices were real. The tempo isn't always perfect, the pitch isn't either but it sounds so amazing because it is natural. This performance is just one man singing live backed by an amazing full orchestra performing a beautiful song in a fantastic arrangement. It came out the way it came out. There was no "post production". Yet is seems more perfect than perfect. Why? Because it is REAL!

Philip Arabit covers many Kenny Rogers songs. See She Believes in Me.🤠
Many of the female Filipina singers are beasts. 🙄🙄 Morissette Amon 🤯 (Akin Ka Na Lang, Fly Like a Bird, many Mariah Carey covers 🤯), Katrina Velarde 🤯 (Ho the Distance, Reflection), Julie Anne San Jose 🤯(My Immortal, Adagio) are 3 of many great Filipina singers! 👩‍🎤
