- There's a lot of good (and bad) in my cheap Mercedes W124 / S124!! In this video, I'll show you how to replace the wood trim, move the dash buttons, and evaluate all the problems in my cheap Benz!! 1995 Mercedes E320 wagon restoration can be expensive, but if you know where to shop you can save a ton of money.

I spent over 50 years refinishing and restoring furniture. Wood is wood and in the mix were many sports car dash boards and parts as well as six Rolls-Royce interiors. The earlier cars had a lot of wood in them and the finish they used on all of them cracked like your Mercedes do. Getting the old finish off wasn't a treat but doable. I polished the finish to a factory finish. Great video. You and Randy are doing well with the less expensive cars but the $125 Bargain Benz will be mighty hard to beat. Thank you.

Had a 94 White wagon, loved it , bought with 99,000 miles , after we wanted a newer wagon both daughters had it and then we got it back with over 200,000. Still miss it, ended up with 3 other wagons before switching to ML’s. Would love to have another one. You will fall in love with it if you fix it up and drive it every day, good luck.

TE stands for Touring (yes, we Germans probably invented the word; ) with petrol injection ("Einspritzung"). In Germany such a TE was also called a TEE, because we also had a train back then called the TransEuropExpress. Fast and Luxurious (my father remembers that ;) Keep going mike👍

Whoa, those parts were a snip and have transformed the console, nice work Mikey. Looks ten years younger after a wash and new centre grille. Those wheels only need a plastic scourer and a soak with soap/diluted bleach and will come up shining. Looks nice underneath too. I envy you for having the electric steering column adjust, mine is static. Really looking forward to the next instalment.
All the wagon needs is a nice set of AMG wheels. Dope car!!
While it needs a front/rear headlight, rear glass, but for the age, I agree that the body/paint is in quite good condition!

keep it up, for the left quarter panel, make a wood block or (Lowes or home depot) trim molding piece of hard wood. then take a slide hammer a gently pull it back into shape. just a thought

Try Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner, goes on clear and turns purple as it cleans. Stinky but effective. I buy it in the 5 Litre container, but available in a spray bottle.

My secret method for under bonnet cleaning is WD40. It dissolves most oil based accumulations of dirt. It helps keep water from getting where it doesn’t belong as well and quickly evaporating water left after the wash. Then I use a general purpose degreasing cleaner for either spraying onto the areas to be cleaned using a spray bottle and/or a water hose and nozzle or pressure washer. Doing it at ambient temps minimising steamy liquids from getting into electrical and electronic parts. As the engine bay is left open to dry, I spray it liberally with WD 40 again. This helps to drive out dampness by evaporating and dispersing water. It also leaves a pleasant semi gloss shine where applied and does not leave a sticky residue to attract new dirt.
I have always wanted a car in my life and like this I hope that one day I can have it.

Looks like somebody went to town with a sawzall on the ignition key tumbler! Some tow company employees are totally ignorant on where the tow rope/cable attachment points are on various car makes and models! Is the lower radiator support bar removable? I hope so! Have you tried to find a rear hatch glass for it yet? That might be a bit difficult. She already looks a lot better Mike and great prices on the interior parts!!!! Wow!!!
For the wheels use black magic whitewall tire cleaner, it works amazing on brake dust etched into alloy wheels, with some brush action they will come out really good!
You’re doing a great job keeping up the momentum with all these new cars but still working on them to give us a variety of content.

Had this in Brilliant Silver, the 320 engine, with Sador rims of a W210. It was perfect.
clicked for the benz wagon lol i have an s212 but lust after these older versions
W124 has an over voltage relay behind the battery and plastic cover and ovp has a blade fuse under a transparent plastic cover. I don't know of other problems, but if the fuse is blown ABS light is on all the time.
I presume that you know all the problems with W124 wind shield wiper system.
Mike you are lucky to have a local junk yard with the parts you need. That makes your life so much easier.

Between this, the Barbie car and the old 740i, this channel feels like it was made just for me. Love all 3 projects. I think the reason I enjoy this channel so much is that your mechanical skills are about on par with mine. But I have to say, your patience outweighs mine by lots. A red scotchbright pad with some wheel cleaner (the iron remover type that turns purple) is pretty good at cleaning off the “gold” from grinding brakes.
I’m a Mercedes guy and had a number of them over the years, and when I bought each one, I would always go to my Mercedes guy and get him to put those chrome spats on over the guards, particularly with that model which had a very very a little chrome and it needed it to make it look Nicer in my opinion 👌Those screws are not original on the spats as they come with bendable clips takes one minute to install each one👍
