- DIDGE-ITAL DREAM TIME is a series of videos that explores the sonic possibilities when adding digital effects within the didgeridoo itself, via the didge-ital instrument.
In this Episode, I attach the speaker of the Didge-ital to a 12 foot agave plant (didgeridoo), creating a low key of G drone. Then my friend Patrick Stevens plays overtone notes on another didgeridoo into a microphone that's sent back into my didgeridoo, so Patrick's rhythm is simultaneously amplified inside my didgeridoo as I play. This experiment was really fun for me because each note Patrick produced created hits of high air pressure inside my instrument that I could feel. As far as the listener's concerned, not too extraordinary... at least not any more impressive then the sound of a low frequency enormous didge and patrick's skillful overtone rhythm.
Patrick and I planned to create this video after we discovered this rhythm one day while experimenting with the Didge-ital. We picked a weekend day to shoot, and then my friend Oliver Jacobson called me and asked if he could come and jam with us on that same day. I told him sure thing, but he'd have to be in our video. On the day of the shoot we recruited Matthew Westergren to assist us with a little djembe beat. With about 2 hours of practice while setting up the cameras and microphones we worked out this song. Big thank you to Oliver for taking our simple didgeridoo rhythm to a new level. Big thank you to Zack Benson and Billy Cornish for helping me shoot this video and to Tim Flood for taking my rough sound recordings and giving them a proper mix. Couldn't have done without all you guys :)
More to come, stay tuned!

Well done guys. Nice rhythm. Ha, much older now. Hope you still make experimental music. 🦎👍from the Netherlands.
44 years?! WOW!!! Respect!
Great sound, guys! While I am a very experienced didj player who has played with violin and many other instruments, your electronic setup is new to my world. Nice blend!

Blown away. Awesome playing by all of you.
strambolic, fantastic,magically executed....
Really love where you all are going with this. I appreciate how the integrity of the didge (true droning) is kept while adding modern advances to enhance the sound. Lest we forget the didge is about the drone. Keep it up - just great.
